on my server I turned on all the western weapons but they only spawn in the containers, its a good idea to have the stuff just there, otherwise the boats will be useless.
Not yet, I have roughly 25 hours played and the best I have found was an sks, it's alot better to get decent clothes and boots and a simple shotty from Livonia then hop to the new map as finding things is fewer than previous.
@@zvosburg0991 i didn't but I'm guessing it's the military island where I'm finding AKs. I've only seen AKs so far and it's possibly I'm wrong but I could have sworn they said the VSS would be on this map. I know the Valykr is on this map but who knows. Haha sorry if I mislead you I realized the only gun I've seen that uses the 9x39 is the Valykr.
@@F3ar3ss Sadly no. I have looted it all in my private server with two other friends, and we have yet to find a VSS or SVAL. Tons of 9x39 ammo and 30rd mags, but only the vikhr to shoot them out of. That's a great gun, but the integral suppressor versions are better.
This happen in all versions, console or PC, you can use your loot on any official server, at least 3rd person server loot don't to to 1st person servers and vice-versa.
@@captainhadd0ck Thats the only good thing about officials that you can visit different maps with same character. there was only one community server that allowed that and you had to travel from certain part of the map and arrived to certain part.
I like how this adds rarity to western weapons. I think we need more map unique things for sure. Like western weapons only spawning at nato structures/events. Already have it w the helicopter but itd be cool if it was with structure specific like the green tents ac130 care package etc. But one day i hope the game gets specic for only food to spawn in kitchens and clothes in bedrooms. High hopes
Thanks, I hate it.. :D Removing fun for the sake of lore is certainly a decision, not sure it's a good one though. I'm 100% on board with adjusting the spawn values on each map to support the lore but removing the content completely is just silly. Every weapon should at the very least have a nominal/min value of 1, and if you want to keep them really rare bring back the count_in_player/count_in_cargo/count_in_hoarder flags. Then these items will be so rare to the point that the maps feel similar to how they do currently, but you can still have an exciting moment every so often when you bump into a player with one of these rare guns or find it in their stash. IMO you should always have a CHANCE to get any weapon in the game (even if it almost never happens because it's so rare), tailoring the loot tables like this achieves that while maintaining the feeling that the map is different due to its lore. As you pointed out we already have the M4/M16/DMR, so why not add the rest of them? Just make them mega rares. PS: What is the lore reason for the ASVAL not spawning on Chernarus, even though every other weapon does? BRING BACK THE ASVAL!
Thing is, you could just bring an M4 over by server hopping and if it's not completely impossible it shouldn't be an issue, I for one appreciate it, I like it when lore affects gameplay... Infact I hope lore is more impactful in future developments, be nice to be able to learn more about the lore through stuff we find on the map also, another reason they need to bring back readable books or texts in general, could have some documents or newspapers regarding the outbreak
Server hopping is so ridiculous and it’s astonishing to me that it’s even a thing. If it’s a server hop between the same map then sure, but jumping onto sakhal with a 60rd m4 that u found within an hour of Chernarus gameplay just isn’t fair
@@azedes it's not fair on people who solely play on THAT Sakhal server no, but it is fair because anyone can do it, I think it's cool to give a sense of travelling between maps, also if you do hop between maps you'll get a random spawn anywhere on the map
@@azedes it's still a gamble, other players have always been the biggest threat on DayZ, if any fresh spawn vets see a fully geared guy near one of those spawns they're gonna hunt you, then if you have to blast them and cause too much noise it's like flies on sh!t from there on out and you haven't even gone inland yet... I dunno personally I'm just not bothered about it, I think the idea of travelling between maps is cool and any unique gear that only spawns on that particular map being carried over is also a cool thing imo, punch cards, yellow king helmet, filtering bottle etc, having player traffic bring those items into circulation on another map that wouldn't usually spawn it is interesting.
@@flexdon5188 I’ve never been on the receiving end of a map hopping player myself (or at least I don’t think so) and you make good points. I guess I just forgot it was a feature and i think it’s surprising that it’s been brought over with sakhal considering the weapon pool discussed in the video. I’ve got no major complaints though, there’s plenty of other changes I’d rather see
i love the lore. i love the idea. i think you guys are doing great with the direction of the game. I've never been a fan of the pvp armband sweat lords of the games community but i do respect their playstyle. I've always enjoyed the grimy struggle of having barely any ammo and getting into a awkward fight with a damaged gun with no mag. i tend to get bored once I'm all geared up with everything. my main enjoyment really is the struggle to survive and loot and make a nice camp and once I've done that and I'm all healthy and geared I've beaten the game and want to start over. pvp is more like any other obstacle and not something i actively seek out. if that makes any sense. i was in a 5 man once in official that ran to every gunshot. it got boring real fast and the server pop died.
I play just like you, but i also seek out the pvp, cause i love that shit. The struggle and the combination of pvp and pve is why i love dayz and Sakhal is just fantastic when it comes to all of these things.
I feel like there are better ways to create this kind of PvP and cutting a lot of weapons out of the map entirely and limiting many of them is a fairly bad way to do it. Really, this games gunplay needs to be reworked. It's simply too easy. It doesn't have to be as floaty as previous DayZ gunplay but there needs to be more inertia, changes to ADS, etc. Everything about this game's gunplay feels like it's on rails. Very rigid and arcadey which seems to be the exact opposite direction the rest of the game has taken.
I really like how they make loot make lore sense, I would love to see them do this in Chernarus too tbh. Needs to be in a different way there tho - different factions in different bases, Western weapons from the US helicopter crash and so on. Not difficult, would just take a little time...
Wouldn't a better lore be that the containers are washed of a western military cargo ship wreck in the area? And maybe eventually that wreck would be a spawn on the map at random locations? Like a high tier convoy
Dude that actually sounds like a sick idea. Have a ship in the middle of the ocean as a toxic zone where you can loot more western ammo and weapons. Too bad the devs don't have imagination like you.
Because the value is set to zero in the types file. This is also the case for the LAR(FAL), VSS ,SVAL, UMP45, SG5K, and the MLOCK(Glock). I maybe missing a few but i run my own Sakhal server and have been modding it for a week or so now and i've noticed quite a few items that are set to zero including some ammunition types.
This is a great design decision. Gives a more unique feeling for the map. And in the future, maybe there will be another DLC with a map more centered on western weapons... Great job on Sakhal for BI, we are having a blast.
Great design decision ? This map is already boring on its own but now you tell that there is only 50% of the weapon ! Most people will go back on the previous map
Unique feeling? How is having only 3 different guns making it unique (ak47/akm/vikir). Yes you can get m4 and m16 but the time it takes to get one and have enough ammo to use it makes the whole gameplay painfully boring.

Crazy tho u have to go to a shipping container to get 556 ammo for a nato gun tho makes the game crazy so if you looted the container got ya m4 and run out of ammo on the main land you screwed 🤔
There's approximately 14 Weapons that don't spawn naturally. The only ones that I disagree with are the SVAL and VSS, but I also don't like that the revolver is missing especially considering the Desert Eagle spawns but No 357 Ammo, so you can only sustain a Deagle by cannibalizing other Deagle Magazines... I'd also really like to see the older AUG A1, and MP5 brought in for a little more variety with the justification of rare outdated equipment but not just missing. As this video notification game through I was actually out in a boat and found a washed up camo crate with an M4, and a 60rd.

I have to make a correction about the lore in Chernarus. There was marine invasion to help chernarussian armed forces to fight prorusian red star movement that wanted to declare independence of south zagoria which is the whole playable part of chernarus. That's why we have USMC zombies around as well. UN might have been involved but its not the main reason why there are western weapons. Besides Chernarusian armed forces used mainly exsoviet tech they did use occasionally western weapons like M16a2.
Thank you! A lot of people do not understand the lore. This is why I think NATo weapons should be hard to come across on Chernarus, like only available at the Air Force base (NWAF)
Is this lore considered canon? I truly appreciate the team's work on Sakhal and the incredible attention to detail that went into the map’s design. However, this decision feels somewhat rushed and disconnected from the overall quality of the rest of the project. It reads more like a justification for a design choice rather than a carefully crafted, believable narrative. From a geopolitical and logistical standpoint, it doesn't quite mesh with the rest of the world-building. I think there's a real opportunity here to enhance the story/gameplay in a way that supports the design decisions more seamlessly.. hopefully this is something that could be explored in a future patch 👍🏻
Please make the high-tier military weapons rarer on Chernarus and Livonia too. Those maps now need to be rebalanced relative to Sakhal, which should be the future "standard" for all official maps. Harder survival and rarer high-tier weapons would be a huge improvement for Livonia and Chernarus IMHO - it might help make cheating less prolific on the unmoderated servers too.
I love the idea but I think there needs to be more variation in eastern weapons if this is how it's going to be. The weapons really do feel nerfed, rifles are very hard to find and scopes even more so, Aks are the best auto fire weapons to be found unless we spend hours touring the outer islands by boat. I'd like to see eastern guns as good as the DMR/FAL/M4/AUG/FAMAS, they could still be rare or bullets/mags hard to find but, plate carriers seem easier to find on Sahkal, nothing wrong with that but fights are harder with lower calibre weapons
Thx for the explanation of the lore. By the way the control for the inventory for console players is so much better than 3 years ago. There is still some improvement to do, but it's almost perfect 👍 I really like the new patch !
My friend has a private server. 100% vanilla, zero modifications and a fresh loot economy. My friends and I looted 10 of the dynamic shipping containers and found nothing but 2 boxes of 556, knives, sheaths and pouches. Not 1 weapon
Iam on console and for me this map is awesome and I think you should keep making dlc maps in future and I think much bigger bunkers to explore be great also
Hi Mark, I noticed something up with loot table with this update not quite bug ... loot items are all messed up. many same items spawn in same area like I found nothing but 7 GPSs in 1 camp site or all the shack in town has oil barrel. dambag barracks had 4 black assault backpacks. not quite bug but same kinda things as last very sensitive Zets few months back just strange and got to deal with it. you might not notice playing Sakhal but Lavonia is crazy found 6 sprite today (didnt mind that...) ... love your contents.
I like the idea of there only being Russian guns on the map but there really is no reason to travel off the main island. The bunker is cool but small and not a lot going on other than guns and ammo. I thought there would be some type of super weapon or even a way to drop gas on a town. There is nbc loot but nowhere to use it. I love the map but just wanted more.
They only spawn in the shipping containers on the small islands get a boat and check all the small islands I found m4s and ka 101s in the shipping containers
Yo, Marks, are there going to be heli crashes on Sakhal official in the future? It would be nice to have at least a couple of heli crash spawns. I played on Karmakrew server and they had heli crashes on the ice sheets, was really cool. This map is amazing, but heli crashes are missing on official servers.
The "proper way" to do it, would have been to add a couple other Russian weapons (for instance : PP-2000 (9x19) Winchester 1895 (7.62x54R) and keep the Western weapons to remote places and make them rarer. I'm not against making them rarer, I understand the logic behind it and would spur going to some place to find rare loot. But setting spawn to "0" and totally removing them is really waste of content and a real bummer. Why every-time something new is released, there's an aftertaste of economy of means ? I really hope all this will be tweaked in the future.
I like the way it is, no need to change it. It gives a reason to go to the islands. Looking forward to what the next update brings for all the maps but especially Sakhal.
There are western weapons also exotic russian stuff too, in containers on the northern islands. There is the biggest chance they spawn, you ofc need a rhib fully loaded with fuel, there will be a lot of sailing for you captain lol, took me about 4-6 hours of sailing around and I have found m16, dmr, anpvs scope and some other small exotics. Buddy I was playing with claimed he found svd and val tho I believe he was referring to vikhr.
I think they should add more Eastern Gear, Groza, GP25 standalone and VOGs to replace m79 and 40mm. Also the 9mm Ak submachine gun should be added, maybe a pkm and Vepr, and theres tons of more russian weapon choices to be added. Was also severely disappointed on the lore aspect of sakhal but loving the map otherwise
Q? for anyone who knows. when you spawn in on Sakhal map what direction are we facing. i dont wanna look at the iZurvive map or watch any content. i wanna get lost and just explore the map blind
And it is to easy to find weapons and russian ammo. I did a loot run on a full official server at the military peninsula and came back with 8 5.45x39 boxes. It will be hard to keep bases up, finding raiding gear is too easy right now.
I understand trying to follow the lore, but at a certain point it dulls the gameplay. Using the same few weapons all the time (AKM/VSD/MOSIN/AK47) is already getting stale. I ran the ice sheet on foot after gearing up and looted a m4 with a 60/30 mag with only 31 bullets total. I ended up throwing it in the ocean after using my ammo killing someone because i wasnt going to go BACK OUT to the islands just on the off chance of finding ammo. The little variety in weapons has already turned me off Sakhal.
Plus I've been having problems with ping iam in uk on eu servers and glitches like waiting good few seconds for doors to open and selecting a gun etc and my Internet is pretty good
At least we know why now. The problem is the PSO scope - it’s dirty! It’s the number 1 reason players prefer nato guns, the SCOPE. Get them to add glass cleaner so we can clean the scope. PigeonUK community server definitely added some nato guns. Marks - maybe there were some American spies on the island and we could find a secret stash, say M-lock,Aug AX and mp5. It’s not a bad thing to be fair but players will eventually miss their favourite guns and go back to chernurus.
There are no western weapons on consul because ALL the AM Camo Containers on the islands DONT EXIST, so much for basic game on PC and consul being identical !!!!!!!!
Love the map. But they need to introduce new weapons or something we need a larger choice of weaponry. Also the inventory got reduced a bit much in my opinion. Keep up the good work marks
The inventory is one of the best changes imo. Now when i find a field backpack i'm like, hell yeah, before i didn't even use a backpack bigger than 30-42 slots. Now it actually make sense to pick a bigger backpack.

But it wouldnt let ppl join any server where the "join" button is, it was a "get dlc" button even if the server didn't run Sahkal....Players had to use DZSA launcher....Might be fixed now haven't used it in a few days... Wasn't trying to be a complete dick was just trying to bust balls
Marks if your reading this I hope you’ll hear me out but I’ve been a consle player for 5 years and we really need to be able to wear a ghilli suit with a bag like if you really think about it , it doesn’t make any sense that you can’t like I can do it in real like lol also I’d love to see the ability to use cammo netting for like covering cars barrels and make a ghilli that cover the whole player and let’s us wear a bag bc with the new inventory system I think it would make sense
Containers are great! I only want they spawn .308 ammo and little bit more 5.56 ammo. Also this map needs a wetsuit that spawns in containers. It would be nice if this wetsuit was as good for swimming in the cold water as fireman clothes. This wetsuit might be the good way to escape those island if you lost your boat.
Dayz has limited content? Are you fecking serious? Bruh, just the backpacks are 19 different types. And each has 3-4 different variations. And each of THOSE have 5 different condition states. "limited content"... HA HA HA!
The developers definitely need to speed up the spawn rate because nothing can be found at the spawn points or anywhere else, as everything is close to each other and it’s easy to get everywhere quickly. Take the prison, for example, and other ‘military’ stations. There were times when I went through five villages, and not only did I not find a pistol or a weapon, but I couldn’t even find a knife. I thought the smaller ‘capacity’ would solve this problem, but it seems it hasn’t.
not a hate comment: there’s golden desert eagles spawning in grandma’s houses for years now, realistic & lore based??? definitely need nato weaponry spawning in military areas on sakhal, on top of that it’s virtually impossible to find anything better than sks or saiga on the main island.. going to get stale quickly. if i had known over half of the game’s weapons weren’t available i probably wouldnt have spent $30 & just stayed on namalsk. 2 thumbs up for map design & effort by bohemia but 2 thumbs down & and an ass out for this horrible “lore based” decision.
No good reason... It doesn't make sense. This is what makes me not want to play in Sakhal, and if I want to first I have to go to another server to find the weapons because in Sakhal the weapon variation is very low. They invented a lore to justify not having all the content on the map.😑
Dont change anything!! The ones complaining are the ones who dont know how to survive a hardcore survival game. Stick to y'all community servers if you cant take the heat.
I only play official with a group of 6 others and trust me, surviving its really not that hard or even the reason we dislike sakhal right now. The people complaining right now are justified. Running the same 3 auto's (vikir/ak47/akm) has made this map just....dull. there's no suprise after a week of playing now. I ran the ice sheet found a m4 with a 60/30 with only 31 bullets. Found a boat, hit every island found maybe another 30 bullets after 3 hours. Killed a player and left with half a 60 mag which I used to kill a swarm of zombies. All that effort and now the gun is useless. It's a tedious effort at this point.
