@@Swagkia_Kuchiki Did everyone just forget that theirs a whole ass story going on lol. How do yall expect Lee and the troops to keep up with everyone wielding lightning and shit. You can LITERALLY put Lee in anything you want plus there are 3 other presets if it's too much of an effort to use the CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION lmao.
I see Max was speechless to see our first early look at Hachi as future DLC later. I joked around the idea of us getting a “robot-Heihachi” in Tekken 8, and Hachi could make a good case of that happening. Just slap its head onto a viable body and we’re golden.
That live action trailer was the most 2011-ass trailer for a video game that I've seen in a long time. They could've hired a bodybuilder and put a King mask on him, and we would've lost our shit.
I don’t think it’s marketing to us. It’s to random people this is gonna be a commercial spot on tv. Not all marketing is to people who know what the game is
i haven’t touched tekken in years and i came back recently to play tekken 7 to get ready for tekken 8. that live trailer was so buns 😂. i will say that the message was conveyed kinda weird that “anyone/everyone can pick up tekken”. the head touching thing…? but i mean it showed the game and some peeps ig so 😂
...So, Zafina has become basically a demon-possessed version of _King of Fighters'_ K9999? 5:31 ...And I only *just now* got the pun with the "Hey, Hachi!" 😅
@@Swagkia_Kuchiki Heihachi only ever say "Yes or Understood, Master" toward Lee in Tekken 5 Lee Ending. This particular combot was model and named reference to Heihachi hence the pun "Hey, Hachi."
the "Jump In" commertial was filmed in a train station from Argentina. It so fun to walk there and imagine what a cool day that must have being to be part of that piece of gaming history.
I feel the big missed opportunity in the live action ad is having people re-enact the Kazuya-Jin punch stand-off. Just tons of people slow-mo swinging on each other would have been amazing! Also, I like Lee’s new costume. Makes me want to try him.
@@SpikeTheWolf is the anime weeb terminology of teenagers going through an edgy and cringe phase where they believe to have hidden dark powers, so they wear bandages in their arms or an eyepatch. There' an entire anime about it too from Kyoto animation
Ngl, while I love Lee's playing style (though absolutely hate playing against him), I could neeeever stand his personality. I don't wanna say his outfit is great (I agree it's very overdesigned), but I do feel this is the first time he looks visually interesting
Well it may be recency bias for me but I've been watching Kamen rider and I can see Lee's new costume are very inspired from that. He might be the Kamen rider or Batman of Tekken. Another note is that Lee loves to shows his other strength, which is his brain, it's not out of character for him to develop a super suit for himself, just to prepare himself for the upcoming war that Kazuya started.
I believe Lee's outfit....is in character. It would be weird for HIM to go on the battlefield in a suit. People could...but hes not going to ruin his suit out there. Which as someone that wears alot of suits....does make sense.
Lee's costume makes me really sad, but then I remember what all of Paul looks like and realize that I am blessed knowing that it could have been worse.
Lee's outfit is so good though. His personality is also heavily apparent through it, plus it shows his intelligence. He's usually comedically portrayed vs being a genius. Glad he got the wildest outfit change to match his personality. I will say however, it does remind me of Nina's outfit.
Lee is wearing that because he'd technically a tekken force soilder now for lars while them both being like half brothers and all so I'm sure he's probably right under lars. Lars outfit is more akin to a general or tactician. Their special intro is badass.
@Kragneel the Point is lee is in armor for a sensible reason and lars is depicted as the general of that rebellion like it or not. He literally led the charge on a bike and everything in the trailer lol
Right? People complain about the customizations but street fighter gets fewer characters and costumes are paid dlc only. I’m pretty happy they kept customization despite it being so time consuming to implement.
I wonder if there's something like a "devil Zafina" of sorts in the cards for the future. It seems like she has been progressively losing the battle with that beast.
@@johans3164 I think it would be cool if at some point a new supernatural character showed up in Tekken, one that is basically a reinveted, playable Azazel, but not going by that name, to keep a sense of mystery, and you could see some traces of Zafina's moveset in that character's moveset, kinda like the whole "is the character Q actually the character G?" thing in Street Fighter. That would be a spooky and interesting development.
To add to that, Reina can be the character that connects T8 to T9. They wrap up the Jin-Kazuya plot, and then Reina will be the one that goes "oh yeah while you guys are fighting each other, this bad thing is happening", and thats how they re-introduce neo-Azazel or something like that.
It's nice to see the big three finally step up to the plate. I think they realized that the FGC is 1. Very dependent on them to stay relevant, and 2. That the genre as a whole could be something massive, more so than it's been in 20 years.
Kinda interesting how SF6 took off and has gained a lot of respect. Many people consider MK1 to be in a bit of a slump for now. I look forward to seeing the opinions people form about the full release of Tekken 8.
They should've just added the tekken 8 theme song on this ad and it becomes a million times better + plus your idea of having the extras say dorya! would've been the icing on the cake. BANDAI NAMCO, HIRE THIS MAN!
I actually thought Max's editors put placeholder music over that live-action trailer because of licensed music or something... and then Max talked about its PSP3 music and I'm like wow, that doesn't match the Tekken vibe at all lol
Thankfully I’m not one of them folks that had a problem with Lee’s redesign. I’ve learned to accept it. Like you said he’s dressed appropriately for the battle/war. So it would make sense for Lee to be in that outfit. I feel like people’s whole argument’s disproved here.
@@xavierstewart5756i don't think anyone cares about appropriateness they just think the design is wack which i agree with i mean they got freaking bears in this war for crying out loud
For the live action trailer, I was waiting for the usual character trailer announcer to start shouting: "Get ready for the Next Battle! Tekken 8! New Challenger!"
3:32 Okay, seriously, why are people hating the fact Lee is wearing tactical military armor? Did they forget that he's literally in the middle of a war right now?
Yep, it’s makes me wish to play Tekken again after all these years.. Lee choalan was my favourite in Tekken 4 and I want to play with every character and specially King
Tekken 8 wins from the perspective that they handled every single character of the main game as a character that could be included in a DLC. From Jin to Lee. From Kazuya to Zafina. They all look like, by moveset, their special, their whole appearence as they are something unique and you wanna learn every single character from the very beginning as you paid 6.99 for each. This is not just marketing (sure it is), but it's a whole new character recreation and reimagination that every fighting game needs but none have done it till Tekken 8.
I still believe Kiryu will be a guest character. It makes too much sense considering he was rumoured for 7 but it never happened, but one of the DLCs HAS to be a crossover. And Gon would be great too.
@@WolfieMemoKiryu has been in a game where he literally shoots at females, the dude that made that dumb ass comment got fired a while ago, people in a higher position than him said "Harada san can have Kiryu" years ago. Stop spreading false information based on some random ass comment that makes no sense from a dude that got fired over bullying japanese nerds (being involved in a video games company, that's freaking dumb).
@@AlaaHbSam a good looking not overlydesign armor outfit in that case?its literally just too overly designed like the french(i think it was french) dude with the futuristic katana that looks horrible as well and not fit together his whole design.
@AlaaHbSam King, Xiaoyu, and Hworawang are all fighting in the war with their regular fits...They could've done a better design. But ofc we can change that costume.
This trailer made me realise something, Heihachi might really be dead this time. I made a quick search and found out that the name is written (平八), the first 平 can represent "even" or "flat/plane", but also "peace". And the second 八 is literally the number 8. That said, you could read his name as something like "peace on 8", maybe that's was the way of the Tekken team to mark the expiration date for him....
