I am a psychologist and you are correct.. bags are our adult security blankets. Also, who wants to shop for jeans? You are correct. Bags fit everyone..I have also always loved bags and boxes. I am 52 and went from coach to LV at 47 and cannot turn back. 🤣
I agree with the other comments, fantastic topic and it should be a tag video. I was born this way . . . loving handbags! I recall being very young, holding ladies’ handbags (family and friends of my family). I recall loving the sound of ladies reaching into their bag looking for something. My quality of bags have stayed within my budget so the quality has gotten better, I’m in the contemporary, mid-priced range and happy with that. I don’t see myself purchasing luxury yet I enjoy watching others’ share their collection on YT. I feel an awesome bag pulls a look together no matter what you’re wearing, it’s easy styling. Bags make me smile! I can rock Target bags as well as Coach if I love the design! No one in my personal life shares my bag obsession so its nice to know others share the same admiration. TFS
Completely relate to the ‘always fits’ statement. I don’t think I even realised that until now! Through 2 pregnancies and massively fluctuating weight, bags have been my only constant ❤️
Great question!!!! Honestly, my obsession with handbags started this year. The quality and the designs of my coach boutique bags are impressive. As of lately, buying handbags are pure excitement for me. It brings me joy buying, wearing and accessorizing my handbags. I just love it.

What a great topic and yes I think for me it was when I was younger I worked in cosmetics on counter in a store and used to see all the rich ladies come in with their bags and I used always think I want to be like that and that’s when it started after I finished my education and got a real job🤦🏻♀️😂and yes this community is so kind too ! My obsession started when I was about 4 years old in the early 90s when I saw my Dad gift my mom a big Dooney and Bourke purse , she was so happy ! I became so fixated with the duck emblem , the leather etc. I always used to have my dad buy me these cheap purses from K Mart when I was elementary school. Then in middle school Dad got me my first Coach bag and it all snowballed from there. Purses are my all time favorite accessory and collection art!!
I just started my addiction after I got my son. During pregnancy, I suddenly crave a pink handbag and basically never stop purchasing pink handbag for two solid years. Now I’m etching towards black bag fascination phase again.
My obsession started a year ago with Dooney bags. I sat down and thought about it and realized that this is filling a childhood lack. I grew up quite poor and I desperately wanted a particular brand of school bag as a child which I never got - funnily enough that brand was called “duckpack”...many decades later, it’s manifested into a D&B addiction 😄
I’ve always loved handbags. I remember being a little girl and I wanted to be like my grandmother. She would always have a purse to match her outfit lol. So as I got older I would purchase bags of all styles and colors. About two years ago I purchased my first MK bag and the rest is history lol. I love that I’m. It alone in my obsession lol.

Only in last two years have an obsession for handbags, mainly because I can now afford them, tho personally won’t buy luxury as can’t justify the price (have three kids, eldest at University so a few more years to come with the other two), but love watching YT on luxury. Love the Rebecca Minkoff & Fossil bags and as I don’t spend on hair colour, nails, facials, shoes - I can justify my spending 😂 🇳🇿
I always loved bags. Nice to look at no self issues. I used to buy the cheap ones then after my career change I could buy real leather ones. I find myself liking a bag and then rotating it by selling and buying others. Keeps the clutter down but I opt for a bag rather than shoes, makeup or jewelry. Oh yeah I have a tiny perfume collection...lol
My obsession with handbags started about 5 years ago. I blame it on RU-vid videos!! I have always been a collector. Starting as a child with barbies! As a teen it was nail polish, earrings, perfume. Then as a young adult diamond pinky rings!! Next the handbags started after watching youtube videos. It does not matter what size you are, it always fits!! Thats the first thing I always say when someone asks me why. I had collections of shoes as well but as soon as I had my kids I out grew them all!! I also say that it's an addiction. I love the whole process involved. Watching the Videos then searching for the bag, negotiating prices sometimes. I started out strictly buying them brand new, but the Lv's and Chanels are so expensive!! Plus I get over a bag so fast sometimes that I want to sell it without losing money! I have realized along the way that I like all bags expensive or cheap. Like you, they don't all have to be luxury bags! I have one for every occasion!
I have been obsessed with handbags since I started my cycle at the tender age of 9 been carrying one since that day. I also love shoes because no matter how much weight I gain or lose my beautiful handbags and shoes fit.
I am the same here I obsessed to hand bags I agree with you no matter what you wear but if you have a nice luxury bag even if is a cheap bag but luxury leather bag. No shoes I can't step on a 1000 dollars shoes😲😲😲😲😲 I don't wear makeup at all, no expensive clothes.
My older sister used to buy purses all the time and the habit was passed down to me , she gave me my 1st purses and now that she is passed away , the obsession is real
Shopaholics my first expensive bag was from coach and it was a patchwork bag lol all over pink with different patches of leathers 🤣 very ugly now that I think back 😂
