Electric Fuel Injection on a two stroke is a reality, but will it become mainstream? Here is what we know and here is what you have asked.
How heavy is the motor? How much does it cost? Will it be offered on other motor platforms like the Atom 80? Is it waterproof? Can it be purchased as a stand alone motor or on as a package? How efficient is the motor and what is the maintenance schedule? Some of these we can answer and some we can not, but what we most certainly are is STOKED! One of the tests I would like to see is how it will handle abuse. Ran hard and constantly. Long climbs, high altitude, powered G maneuvers, and what happens if you do go down in water? Will it be as easy to get going again if you went down in water after a foot drag?

A good test would be to take two otherwise identical setups and see how long you can fly compared to the Moster Plus. Same weight pilots, same frame, same wing, same starting fuel, fly level formation until you run out of fuel. It would prove the fuel economy benefits. But you'd have to try with either bigger pilots or smaller wings so we can get an idea of the fuel economy improvements across the RPM range, in particular above and below the high jet operation on the carbureted model. The fuel economy improvement suggests XC but I do think the size of the battery or the inability to charge in flight will be an issue for some. Imagine going on a trip where you'd have to refuel. Either you have to carry the charger with you and land somewhere you can recharge the battery, or you have to carry multiple batteries. It's a small population I'm sure but something to consider. The weight increase is already getting negative feedback so you probably wouldn't want to increase the weight for everyone. In my head I'm thinking you could carry one of those turbine generator they advertise that you can drop in a stream to charge your phone, fix that to the paramotor somehow, and have the air stream spin the turbine. If memory serves, some models of the F-4 used a similar idea to supply additional electrical power.

Just can't justify it. Added weight, so many wires and added parts to break, no back up of a pull start, limited flight without charging, display screen takes away from simplicity and adds snag points near carabiner, increased price, etc. I prefer carb and pull start personally.

Compare the fuel economy, power and temperature to the carbureted 185. I've been waiting a long time for an efi system to come out!

Can you fly without the display? I would love to see the failure states of this new motor controller. Like what is it equivalent of a check engine light? What happens if the temperature sensor falls out mid flight? Things like that. 2 stroke failure states are predictable, I fear this thing wont be.

I think the "safety start" is going to get someone killed. I would not be keen on that, i can see situations where turning the motor on and needing to go to full throttle before 4 seconds would be needed. There should just be a safety switch you have to hold for 4 seconds without any restrictions to throttle useage. Like an over ride or something 4 seconds is a long time when the ground is coming up or powerlines or a multitude of other obstacles. As is only having electric start w/out pull start backup. At the end of the day its a 2 stroke and theyre not known for longevity id rather have everything at my disposal then be hindered by what an engineer came up with cuz "safety". Idk put an override or a different way to "lockout" the throttle. If you want full throttle maybe double tap and hold? Or something? just shutting off the motor seems..?😅

Correction: All Vittorazi engines are covered for a 1-year warranty from the date of purchase of the engine or aircraft. Only the Moster 185 MY'20 version is covered by a 2-year warranty, this as a result of a promotion.

There has been some miscommunication about the warranty period on engines other than Moster. We clarified this morning that ALL Vittorazi engines have 2 year/150 hour warranty. This is stated in all the user manuals as well

Honestly unless they did something weird with their throttle I bet you would be able to no problem. If anything that probably be the best reason for them to go with a 1 button system for the starter.

As much as we want to take this sport into expensive carbon cub territory it will never be. lets continue to push the right segments of PPG.. Simplicity, reliability, affordability. Performance will always be in the wing. Electric like everything else will soon take over this segment for what this EFi is trying to cover as battery tech advances.

Can you test it by leaving untreated E10 pump gas in it for 12 months store in a shed and see if it runs like crap or doesn't start and then go in about wanting EFI to solve these issues of neglect 😂😂

@@Ellwoodsss1 Ya and experienced paramotor mechanics will say things like "rebuild your carb once a year" because of fuel system neglect. Use rec gas, avgas, or be on top of fuel stabilizer goes a long way, like years and years. Help the EFI last with proper fuel. I built a fuel transfer pump and I drain the fuel system (tank and carb) always unless I'm at a fly in or something where I'll be flying daily. If you fly daily, new fuel is constantly flushing out the old fuel.

@@BG322 the computers in commercial aircraft are not programmed to kill the engine if you give it throttle within 5 seconds of startup. If a paramotor engine dies and your able to start it 5 seconds before impact it’s too late. If I start my paramotor engine 1 second before hitting the ground, I’ll just fly away
