I think the popularity of the new TCGs are due to the success of Pokemon. People don't want to miss the boat on the first editions and releases. Their successes needed the success of Pokemon to have led the way first and set a precedent.

The OP cards have been around since before Pokemon. The game began in 2022. The Anime has been around for a couple decades. These current OP cards are going to drop like a bad habit. Mark my words.

People saying One Piece is a bubble or “Metazoo” aren’t paying attention to local and regional play tournaments. One piece is crushing with actual play, most of demand is centered around deck metas. Manga Rare pops are pretty low compared to all other TCG case/big hits.

Very interested to see how things play out in the future with these newer TCG's. I am honestly happy Pokemon is more stable and that we can still get boxes for under MSRP when they come out. I am a lot less worried investing reasonable amounts of money on Pokemon boxes rather than paying 4x MSRP on a new TCG that may do great, or could get obliterated by a hefty reprint.

Look at prices in a couple years and see which one is underperforming. Pokémon has a proven track record. It was also outpaced by MetaZoo and Flesh and Blood when those TCG’s released. Now who’s left? Pokémon is as always.

Lorcana set 2 & 3 not doing as well, considering the volume. Non -players are hording set 1. Chapter 1 dip is because tournament store can order a few cases of chapter 1. I think Lorcana will make it long term. With that said, I am happy I did not listen to you and sitting on 3 cases of the First chapter, in at under 150 a box (and a load of sleeved packs), haha. Would look into the coming Union Arena (preorder is low) set and get in early (bigger risk than Lorcana).

I think it's a combination of s few things like age of the card, the popularity of the pokemon, the scarcity on the market and in existence and then yes the price point. Very hard to tell and varies.

Ya that new yugioh box rarity collection 2 box is pre ordering for more cause msrp in higher on that one cause they increases the number of cards and hits per pack but the box itself contains fewer packs

You are 100 percent on par with my thinking on this video. As soon as I seen Pokemon going flat I started looking into other TCGs such as the ones that you mentioned in the video. Another company with a great track record that has established a name is Weiss Schwartz. Now these cards are based on a ton of different IPs such as anime, Disney, star wars, mobile games, ect. As an example of what I've been hot in are the Weiss Azur Lane cards. These are based off a mobile game and they do have a short anime run. Some of the cards are pretty lewd however there are multiple hits per case that are valued in the range of $500 to $1200 cards. Notice the word "Multiple"! Not just a single Umbreon or Charizard. MULTIPLE CARDS! I've been making a killing off these signature cards

For One Piece, it is such a popular anime and manga, makes sense that it is doing so well, but you also got to look at pop rates. One Piece is smart about their print runs and they don’t flood the market with a new product. I do think One piece is too risky and a lot of the prices just don’t make sense so I avoid it. I can see it having a major correction kind of like how DBS masters did. I mostly collect DBS masters and fusion world cause that is where my passion is but did pick up 151 and excited to open them and keep some sealed product and grade some of my favorite cards in the set

Lorcana just announced a first chapter reprint which is resulting in a 30% drop but it will probably stabilize. We were close to mooning but it will take another year or so now.

Ya I think I was the first to talk about investing in it but unfortunately it's gone too wild and is so risky buying in at $150 $200 at release. But I agree I don't see it stopping.

Just sold a case of fusion strike for 1708€ i had it on cardmarket thinking "oh if i price it like this no one will buy it until the end of the year and i can put it higher if i feel like it" Then boom some dude bought it, even tho i had it way over market price when i did put it up a few weeks ago. :D so wild. so ive had it for like a year bought it for 620 euro. so that is a pretty good ROI afterall.

I agree with your idea that these boxes and cards move faster because its just a way smaller market, with less boxes and singles than pokemon. Im not certain how much overlap there is with disney and pokemon though. My subjective feeling is that most of the people into disney are not also pokemon people. They may just be on there own wavelength and not own any pokemon🤷‍♂️. Im not convinced substantial market share is being lost from pokemon in favor of disney. We need a poll. Lol

I have been collecting and ripping packs of Pokemon since 1st gen and I buy a bunch of Lorcana. Go to a Lorcana tournament or game night at LGS and its ALL pokemon fans. There is almost exclusively overlap. There are collectors that are buying into Lorcana just because its Disney and Disney stuff is always collectible. But they people really chasing cards and playing the games are also into Pokemon. My buddy sold off his entire pokemon collection to pay for his wedding and is only holding onto Lorcana now.

This is all supply and demand. These are hot prices and they will definitely come down. Will they crash? I'm sure some will and some will last its just figuring out which ones will. Happened in 2002 with Walking dead issue #1 which had a print run of 2500 to test the market. By issue 50 their print runs were in the 20,000 to 35,000 an issue making the demand for older issues so high that early issues stayed high and are still high to this day. Will it be One Piece, Lorcana, Dragonball or Star Wars that catches on? Too volatile for me so I stick with Pokémon and Sports card sealed products. With a little bit of knowledge quick flips in these newer TCG's can be lucrative.

One piece biggest downside is that its made by Bandai. Lorcana made by Disney. Disney is quick to dump when anything underperformes

little did you know, OP card arts aren't really "original", basically copied from pre-existing manga artworks.. meanwhile pokemon arts are all exclusively made, hand drawn from scratch.. thats why they're very2 unique and special.. meanwhile, arts from OP card are something that you can find either on the manga, or quick google search.. lol..

Ya for sure. The boy reason those prices are high is the supply is so much lower on the market. If those games printed what Pokemon did they would be worth very little.

Seems like a bunch of those graphs for other games you showed are taking a nose dive off a cliff in the last few weeks. Wonder if that trend will keep going. Also a lot of those games have just way less availability. Lorcana cards got 7 listings . No one can find the cards. It’s manufactured scarcity.

All of this is true and ya some are giving some of the gains back but they are still so much higher than Pokemon. I agree long term Pokemon will most likely always be better but lots of plays out there for sure.

One piece sucks. Tried it finally was like a ripoff of wiess and dragonball at same time. F for me. The cards are tacky and i wasn’t impressed with any card from entire box. Its like metazoo with > than what 70 to 80% are flippers likely closer to 90%.
