Journeys definitely had a writing problem. This was Ash's final season so wanting him to go with a victory wasn't bad just needed better execution. It feels rushed or they didn't care like they wanted to just start to work on Horizons. Ash's team wasn't bad they just needed more interaction with each other, heck Sirfetch and Dracovish had some good interactions, they just needed to expand on that with the rest of the team and do it earlier in the show. If they focused more on Ash instead of Goh and put more focus on the World coronation battles and training maybe Ash's victory wouldn't feel as hollow.

The main issue here is that Journeys was only decided to be Ash's finale the moment they wrote his Leon victory. Which was in June 2022, when the M8 began, 9 months before his retirement in MPM, very unceremonously too. A show about Ash's ending should've been just about him and the Pokémon he met along the way, not the new. Goh and Chloe barely had any character to them due to this factor. They would be better of in another series tbh. Or just not existing. Or making JN about them with Ash already being in the M8 facing Champions due to Alola. He could've been ranked as 6th with Alder as 5th, Anabel as 7th and Karen as 8th. Leon would be seeded as #0. Imagine a JN set in Galar with the Cerise Labs in Motostoke with Goh and Chloe exploring the Wild Area together. They could've met Lugia who flies South to meet the Crown Tundra Galarian Birds. Ash would be the side protag. Like how Alain was in XY's SME Acts. It would make the audience get used to the idea he was going to leave soon. Or have Ash travel alone (or with Gary) worldwide with Goh/Chloe doing Galar side stuff like in PKMN Chronicles. My pitch for Ash's team are the Kanto mons he once left; returning to give him one final eternal hurrah VS Leon. Pikachu, Mimey, Haunter (Sabrina), Primeape, Lapras and Pidgeot (Mega). Butterfree would GMAX in Darkest Day. Tyranitar could've been in Mount Silver for the epilogue with Ash mirroring Red, probably facing Lance in Johto. How come he never battled the first Champion he met? The one who upgraded his E4 position to dual-region rep? The one we know Kukui lost to back in Indigo if game lore is accounted for. This show just ruined everyone IMO. Iris gets crowned offscreen, leapfrogs Ash's position in SCHEDULED Ultra Class matches offscreen, only to lose. JN was written for the casual viewer/player/fan and not the veteran audience, despite the several callbacks it did. I would bet they wrote this show as controversial as is on purpose so that Ash's farewell can be spoken for eons. Heck, Ash's team doesn't even reflect the "world motif" with 2 Galar, 3 Kanto (4 since Lucario debuted in AG, not DP). Imagine a team of Pikachu (IL/SM), Lucario (DP/XY), Volcarona (BW), Espeon (GS), Alcremie (JN) and Flygon (AG). Or even all-star: Pikachu (OS), Sceptile (AG), Infernape (DP), Krookodile (BW) Noivern (XY) and Melmetal (SM/JN). Because the main issue is that these mons were written to win, not to grow. They feel like Victory Road catches! Imagine Ash only having 5 at a time (Melmetal excluded) like in Battle Frontier with the 6th one being on rotation. We could've had new evolutions like Typhlosion, Gabite, Servine, Dewott, Seismitoad, Gigalith, Scrafty and Dartrix. Only for Riolu to be his last catch in MPM, like an Aipom situation, evolving in the final episode as they see Ho-Oh! Imagine the M8 being Ash, Alain, Iris and Nemona defeating Cynthia, Steven, Lance and Diantha, as Leon is at #0. The grand motif of SwSh was the passing of the torch to the newer generation. So the young blood >>> old guard.

First off I just want to say thank you so much KiroBlitz for taking the time to watch my video it’s a huge honour. Secondly I agree with you 100%, journeys wasn’t the best series and it felt like a “have to” series instead of a “send off” series of that makes sense, Ash was badly sidelined in favour of Goh, Goh wasn’t the best character of all time but he could of been so much more given the right story line and arc’s to evolve him as a character, I feel that the writers didn’t put much effort into Journeys as a whole or the Masters 8 to a certain extent, it seems like all they cared about was getting Ash off the stage and bring in new faces, the 12 episodes to allow us fans to say goodbye wasn’t done right in the slightest, truly disappointing considering how big of a franchise Pokémon is and how reliant they can be on the fans at times. 1 series being Journeys as a fully fan service series wouldn’t hurt the mainline AniPoke series as a whole as it’s Ash’s send off, I genuinely don’t understand the thought process behind half of the choices made by Game Freak. Once again thank you so much KiroBlitz for watching my video and taking time out your day/night to comment it means so much as you were one of the first Pokémon RU-vidrs I ever found and one who inspired me to make a channel in the first place, much love ❤️

Anytime! The honour is mine. Always appreciate seeing new channels take the lead on these topics. We love more of XY's Mairin then JN's Chloe. One was short and sweet, yet safe. One is a risky mess. We know more of Orange and Decolore then of Galar. And it's clear MPM was just JN damage control. Only made things worst since Team Rocket, the villains who profit PKMN mistreatment, are still around.

I doubt this. As soon as I saw the Pikachu origin story as episode one of Journeys it screamed the ending of his journey. Ash looked a lot more of a Mentor to Gou and its not hard to look at it. Dragonite was caught to break the route 1 bird tradition. Rowlett did, but it was the reason Pikipek wasn’t caught. The Dragonite capture blew up the internet so it showed a lot more hope. Idk why Dracovish was chosen but would not be surprised if it correlates to it being very monstrous in the actual tourneys. Also most of his team in journeys was taken based off the most popular pokemon poll and Greninja (returned temp), Lucario (a big one everyone wanted since D/P), Gengar (That Haunter part upsetted many, didn’t think it would happen). They also broke many traditions which were as follow Caught a legendary (that is now confirmed during M8 finale): Solgaleo An Ultra beast: Naganadel A Mythical :Melmetal An unexpected capture that wasn’t confirmed until the final season: Mimey (Mr.Mime) A regional forme: Farfetch’d A Fossil: Dracovish A Mega Pokemon he should’ve had in XY but Greninja was a special treatment to give him a fighting chance) Bring every single companion back than the traditional 1 or 2 per generation. They built it up because Alola as much as I enjoyed it didn’t feel like a proper closing to his story. Only made sense to carry over his title into Journeys (which took a long time to confirm that he remembers he is champion than us seeing the Masked Trophy in his bedroom). I felt M8 was very rushed and a full 6 v 6 for Steven was proper. Or just swap out Steven with Alain. Cynthia and Leon were very good. I am just glad that the opening was real on it being Mega Lucario and Charizard in the final showdown. Pikachu was the sendoff for our trainer for 25 YEARS. I do agree he should of put his reserves in and mixed them with his current team. As to why the writers didn’t is unclear but if I had to throw my guess into it was to not overshadow his current team. They fixed it after the tournament which was not seeing a rotation but I do feel that with the m8 knowing his current team could have legitimately out played him which is why the rotating could of kept Ash’s opponents at bay.

It feels like the reason journey sucks as ash's final season because the writers got so used to the way they did it the first 6 regions, that when they took a break from the pattern in the 7th region. When it came time to go back to the pattern for region 8, they lost the ability to do it. So they had to make a free from type of story were anything can happen so can they write what came to mind of following the expected pattern. They realized that the change in writing brought by region 7, made them unable to follow the pattern they used in the first 6 regions. So instead of thinking how the show's plot will progress in real time instead of the planned ahead pattern, they made journey ash's final season so they can start over with a new character. So they made ash win, despite nonsensical it is.

I never liked the idea of Ash benching the pokemon that literally got him the right to even be in the masters 8 tournament just to give attention to a team of aces that already got the spotlight in their own gens to begin with but that for some reason some fanboys think it's a good idea to bring back to the current show. It isn't a good idea, like, at all. A full team of aces sounds good on paper for some people, but it just doesn't work. None of them can G-Max except Pikachu but Ash needs Pikachu for the Z-Move. Aside from raw strength none of them have special traits that make them difficult to deal with like Sirfetch'd's sword and shield or Gengar being a ghost. The team you're suggesting has no real synergy. For the most part is just fast heavy hitter after fast heavy hitter whereas Leon's team is massively strong, has several different strategies and counters. Infernape and Lucario basically fight the same way, as do Sceptile and Greninja. Charizard is barely different just because of his flight. But more importantly, the point of aces is that they're aces. They are supposed to be the big final clash. If a team is full of them, then they lose their magic. The aces aren't supposed to lose, and when they do it's supposed to be a massive event or loss, but if all of them lose until the last one, they don't feel like aces anymore. Narratively, it cheapens beyond belief everything that makes these pokemon special to put them all on the same team. Not only that but if he would've used reserves you need to consider: How do you do that though? How do you unbiasedly rotate reserves without: 1)Reducing the amount of spotlight each mon has, which is already very little in Journeys due to Goh and Koharu's B Plots 2)Reducing the amount of training everyone gets, leading to even more complaints about JN's power levels. 3)Having to pick only 2-5 reserves at a time, especially during the Masters 8 Tournament, leading to fans of those not chosen being angry that their mon, their "ace" or whoever didn't get the spotlight vs Steven, or Cynthia, or Leon, or whoever. 4)Having the reserves be jobbers or lose at times to establish a threat. Are the Sceptile fans going to be happy when it becomes the one that loses to Dream Eater Spiritomb 1v1? Or are the Infernape fans going to be happy when it becomes the one that jobs to Bea's Grapploct or Hawlucha? Are the Greninja fans going to be happy when Leon's Mr Rime casually sends it to the grave with Freeze Dry early into the battle? Or are the Charizard fans going to be happy when Dragapult beats it in the middle of the Leon battle? Which two are going to get their shit kicked in by Leon's monster Rillaboom? God, imagine the uproar. Ever wondered why Ash only started rotating reserves in his Aim to be a pokemon master special send-off episodes, where there are no more high stakes battle he has to train like crazy for? Because there'd be no such situations. Even then, in Aim to be a pokemon masters, due to the sheer amount of reserves Ash has, not everyone gets to shine there. Krookodile? Gone. Snivy? Vanished. Scraggy? Disappeared. Torkoal? Never met him. 5) Having it look like Ash is playing favorites. In universe, what does it say to the fans about the other reserves when Ash picks and chooses whoever goes against, say, Leon? Or Steven? Or Cynthia? Or Iris? "Why does X mon specially get chosen and picked out of Oak's lab mons for the chance to fight against Champions, but my favorite reserves from his past teams get left out?" "Is my Ash playing favorites? My favorite pokemon only got to fight Volkner but this other mon gets to fight Raihan, a Masters Eight?" It worked in Sinnoh because ultimately, even the likes of Tobias were nameless trainers at the end of everything. At best they were a League winner with zero personality and development, at worst they were literally nameless trainers. But now Ash would be picking and choosing who gets the chance to shine on the world stage, and who gets robbed of that chance against famous characters in-universe like the Unova Champion, Hoenn Champion, Sinnoh Champion and Galar Champion. Again, JN solves this issue by having Ash pick and choose no one. He assembles a team in JN itself and doesn't choose between his reserves. That way, he's not playing favorites. And despite your opinion about them. I personally think they defeated some pretty strong opponents in order to reach the masters 8. He fought against elite four members, Bea and the rest of the Galar gym leaders are canonically considered to be elite four level trainers as well and overall there were some pretty interesting trainers taking part in the tournament despite the occasional random trainer.

it kind of upsets me how he didn't use any of his old pokemon, like greninja at the very least (seeing as they have this insanely strong bond that literally causes greninja to take on a new form), and instead used absolute trash like DRACOVISH and sirfetch'd... ash had not only bad bonds with his pokemon but the pokemon themselves were bad. excluding pikachu :D they should've let goh have dracovish as his little pokedex collection thing, and it also kind of defeats the entire "to be a pokemon master" goal. to be a pokemon master really means to win big achievements and tournaments and stuff, but it also means to be the very best of friends with his pokemon. sirfetch'd, lucario, dragonite and dracovish didnt portray this at all in my opinion. gengar kind of did but y'know. you'd think that in the biggest tournament of ash's life, to be literally crowned as the world champion, the bestest pokemon trainer in the world, he'd have better pokemon, or at the very least a better bond, i think in reality if ash was like an actual person and pokemon was real blah blah blah then in the championships he'd either have lost at like 6th or 3rd or something or had won by pikachu giving it everything he's got because his other pokemon don't have that big of a bond with him as opposed to his pokemon like bulbasaur back in the first season. maybe im just sad theres no greninja / charizard comeback :[

they should’ve made galar the series in which ash catches sirfetch and dracovish and wins the tournament but lose to Leon. @@EliteTrainerJay Aside from maybe general rules on say lore and worldbuilding to keep the Pokémon universe consistent across the different media, GameFreak have zero influence on the Pokémon anime and expecially on story and writing decisions. And honestly it wouldn't make sense as to why they should be heavily involved, as their branch is just the mainline RPG games and not the anime. Heck sometimes it's actually the other way around, as the anime staff sometimes asks GameFreak to make certain Pokémon simply so that they can fill some role within the anime (like Audino to serve as Nurse Joy's partner in the BW anime). Instead of using "GameFreak" to refer to a lose, general entity that controls all of Pokémon, it would be better to say "The Pokémon Company", as they are responsible for managing the multimedia aspects of Pokémon including the anime and thereby probably have more of a say over it than GameFreak. If you are curious as to who is actually making the anime therefore who probably has the most say over it however, it's an anime production studio named OLM

@EliteTrainerJay 25 дней назад
Correct a lot of people did want Ash to win, but the way he won is similar to how he lost the Unova league, Ash had 6 Pokémon and lost to a character who forgot their 6th Pokémon, another way to explain it is like how Ash lost the Sinnoh league, he should’ve won but got bodied by a trainer with legendaries who as yet to be seen again. I’m one of the people who wanted Ash to win, but the way he did wasn’t right, he had Pokémon with little to no bond with him, 4 of his Pokémon type overlapped with at least one other, and they barely trained, so what this video was trying to say is that writers thought that we’d be fine with Ash winning a the biggest test of his life by using weaker then his opponents Pokémon and Pokémon that have no bond with their trainer and their teammates, the only Pokémon on Ash’s team that did what was expected was Pikachu. I understand what your trying to do, but as a lifetime Pokémon fan I’ve watch every series and have my own reasons on why I like them and dislike them, and if you disagree with what I’ve said in this video about Ash’s team and Journeys as a whole then that’s fine it’s your opinion, but you need to realise that a lot of people feel the way I did in this video. @guardzoma5857
@guardzoma5857 23 дня назад
I got what you mean and some people even say that before. I also not into comparing it to Unova League. But what pokémon did Ash have in the World Coronation? Fan favorites,right? So,they clearly want Ash to be “THE VERY BEST THAT NO ONE EVER WAS” at some point in that series by using some of fan favorite pokémon combined with gen 8 pokémon(because that’s the latest bunch when Journeys happened so you know the drill). Knowing that people are craving to get Ash that “biggest trophy” as a proof of becoming a pokémon master because people are like “he took seven gens to win a local league and he never beat a co-champion yet”,the writers don’t have a choice then but to let Ash be in rank 1 not knowing that will sensibly trigger Ash’s farewell as a protagonist. What can Ash do if he’s not the World Champion? Become a tutor for the next gen? Grow up and have kids? Is he really ready for that? He’s still ten years old after all this…and being a pokémon master is still lackluster for most of us. AND NOW YOU GUYS CRY HARD FOR ASH’S FAREWELL AND FUTURE RETURN? AND NOW YOU HATE JOURNEYS AS A WHOLE? AND NOW YOU THINK ASH BEING A WORLD CHAMPION IS JUST “AN ILLUSION”? Heck,even combining all six of his aces(including Ash-Greninja),he CANNOT still beat CYNTHIA AND LEON at that point. We are the one who push this result,not the writers. I bet the writers have different ORIGINAL ideas for Journeys when we were just starting there. Fans genuinely love Journeys in the beginning because it becomes an open-world,open-story,not just focusing only on one region and the game plot. But because of OVERHATING GOH to the point they don’t want to see him anymore just for Ash to achieve everything even if it’s unnecessary or unrealistic,fans and writers’ ideas are conflicting to the point the writers just obsessively pleased the fans to satisfy them and the show’s ratings…which just worked temporarily,not for a longtime. Anyway,you said it’s my opinion and you respect it so I can respect yours as well.😌
