I think the most telling thing about Aspas's skill is when you hear IGL's that faced him previously like FNS say the plans against his team was to pretty much avoid him (or use every bit of util possible to overwhelm him). When a single player can get that much out of you that speaks volumes.
There is only one thing in this timeline missing: you gotta watch Aspas interview with Michel. Basically, Mch (huge csgo/valorant expro player, huge friend with gaules) called Aspas on a twitch live and asked him a lot of questions, asked him to clarify his ban on csgo, asked him what he wanted, asked him to explain his "weird clips". MCH said "aspas, you are going to stream everyday, you are going to buy two cams, one for your fucking face and one for your hands, and everybody here will watch you motherfucker, and one year later you gotta thank me, deal?" Pretty much the biggest deal of brazilian valorant til this day. Everybody started watching aspas, a former "cheater". There is not a single soul like this anymore, where an entire server thinks you are cheating and you are not, this is insane. And he won champs not a year later. I just fucking love this story
Aspas was called a cheater in Valorant too, everyone on the scene was skeptical of him until he played on Lan, then on his first lan he won the tournament doing crazy shit, Pancada was os his team at that time, even Sacy believed that aspas was a cheater, Less would say that Aspas POV on ranked was just odd and Less was a upcoming talent on rankeds too (but Less was know to a very toxic kid on ranked lmao). He is not only the best duelist but the best player overall. He is so disciplined with his game that its just crazy, rarely he overpeaks, he choose his spots perfectly basically all the time.
During masters Reyjkjavik, Mixwell (then in G2) asked between maps for Riot to check Aspas' PC because he was stomping them so hard they were sure he was cheating.
@@fish25290he’s looked insane on neon the few times he’s played her this season, i think tokyo was just an off tournament because of all the behind the scenes stuff and bad team environment
Great video! Just one additional point. I think for a player to be considered the best in role, they have to be able to play all the meta agents at an extremely high level. That's why in this case, i think if we consider duelists, they have to have shown that they are able to play both Raze and Jett at a world class level if they want to be considered the best. So as an example, I think while Jinggg is one of, if not the best Raze in the world, because we haven't seen him play Jett at a world class level, I wouldn't consider him to be the best duelist (as a PRX fan it absolutely pains me to say this but it's the truth). World class duelists who fit this category would probably include names like Derke, zekken, and ZmjjKK since they've all shown they can play both agents at a world class level. But despite that, at least to me, Aspas has proven to be the best duelist in the world simply because he is just mechanically better (aim, movement, utility usage, etc) than them, and has been consistently great for a long period of time. Some people might say Derke could contest for this position, but while I think his Jett is great, he honestly does not look nearly as comfortable on Raze as Aspas
Only Emea delusionals think derke has a shot of being the Goat duelist when he rarely ever diffed his opposing role in the biggest valorant stage even while losing. (Grand finals of lock in and Masters iceland). Atleast Jingg and Aspas did even when losing. And Zekken has been diffing others even in his flex roles. Forsaken is more deserving to be there than derke
Great video, managed to translate well the path of Aspas to the top, I would like to add two interesting points, the team "Pancada e Amigos" was a risky bet by Sacy and Saad, and during an interview for the MD3 podcast, Sacy revealed that in the first contacts with Aspas he asked if he was a cheater or not and even asked to test him to see if he was playing fair, as Sacy and Saad were responsible for assembling the team, they studied Aspas and Less A LOT
4:39 never have i ever expected someone to even mention my boi nivera. He wasn't very popular and mostly overshadowed by his older brother scream, but i personally think he had immense potential. It almost felt like if he bought an operator he would've bought a guaranteed kill, if not more. Phenomenal op player. I wish he still was in the valorant scene. 😢
Me as APAC and PRX fan, the only player that i am okay to be called best or better than my goat (Forsaken), it is only ASPAS. Even in 2022 where people say yay is undisputed MVP, i still think Aspas better. He is so consistent with his frag, the only think i can argue that my goat is better is HIS IMMENSE TALENT AT MASTERING ANY AGENT HE WANTS.
In the beginning, I was 98% sure that he was a cheat, until he received an opportunity to show that he was legit, Sacy called him and gave the quoter a new mouse to see if he was legit, another computer, everything was different, then Sacy thought ''if I catch this kid I'll turn him into the best player in the world''
@@quemuraa some of c9 players blatant cheated against mibr back in CS, but Aspas there is no evidence that he cheated only accused and he was manually banned by GC the faceit of brazil.
In a stream, Saadhak, and in a Thorin interview, Fr0d, both stated that Aspas is also a “blessed” player. Everything he does just works out for him. On top of all the skills he has too.
If the questions like the title of the video is 'Who is the best duelist" it would have to be Aspas because of consistency and mechanical skill over different agents. Jingg is considered the number 1 Raze in the world. Just because he has a title of best Raze does not mean his other duelist picks are that great. For example Something on PRX is really good on Reyna and Jett but Jingg beats him at Raze. Meanwhile we bring Aspas in the mix he is really good on Raze, he is insane on Jett and he can play Reyna great as well. Aspas flexibility to play the top 3 duelist over this games life span just shows how he can be considered the best.
2022 was aspas or yay 2023 aspas or derke, aspas or demon1 2024 aspas or zekken Overall, aspas or etc. This is the exact value that shows aspas is the goat
@@soulphantom3986hard to say for sure because of lev not making madrid and choking in shanghai. while it mostly comes down to his team underperforming, it’s still hard to say he’s he best after his performance against fut
i saw a video of Sacy talking about aspas, he wanted to play with aspas but was still skeptical about him being clean, so he flew aspas to his house for him to play in his own pc to see with his own eyes that he wasn't cheating and was just absurdly good, and well, he is just that good so sacy oficially called him to loud
The thing with aspas and something is they are very vocal and they always call for what they want last year was a rookie year for something but i reckon he will do good this year and also he is flexing other agents because they have jingg but aspas just plays everything his neon his jett his raze he tmis the goat 🐐. And it isn't even close
Fun fact: SLICK (Aspas's first real team) was actually a project secretly funded by LOUD when they were, at the time, studying the possibility of joining Valorant. Talk about destiny.
Aspas in brazilian rankeds was an EVENT. EVERYONE even brazil's biggest val content creators accused him of cheating because it was unbeliavable to see such a high level (he was grinding 2 accounts in radiant and got top 1 with his primary and top 2 with his secondary). When saadhak and sacy recruited him they said it was basically risking their entire career because of the rumors and even in masters reykjavik G2 valorant team asked to check the PCs from everyone on LOUD after they lost LMAO.
Not number 1 duelist, but definitely number 2. And he's been number 2 for most of the valorant scene. (Trust me, you want to consider him the number 2 duelist in valorant, 'cause every number 1 duelist in valorant immediately fall off the next year :D)
Something is upcoming duelist? no way you put something and Oxy in the same conversation. Oxy is still trying to prove himself while something already proved himself.
Well said and I agree with you, what I meant to say was that both of them are in talks of being the “best” duelist. Also it’s not fair to compare both of them or even group them as one..and I’m aware of that. But Oxy doesn’t have to prove too much, the only reason you see something over oxy at international events is because of the insane core of paper Rex setting him up and having his back.
He is the best.. if u put Aspas on tier 2 team he will still frag the f out of his mind, while if u put Yay on tier 2 team he will start bribing the coach
unfortunately you are not a friend and if you keep saying that you would just be a fan boy, it's not about opinion it's about data, it's about statistics it's a bigger issue than your opinion. quote, he has been the most consistent duelist in the world for 3 years. and everyone knows this, including other duelists. everyone recognizes him as THE GOAT
