Bitcoin isn’t “currency”, just as gold isn’t. It’s “store of value”. It’s honest accounting; there can never be more than 21 million. You know exactly what portion of that is yours.
It's a currency, Even Satoshi was part of this discussion... Cryptocurrency. Don't give Fiat some precedence like it can be the only thing that is a currency. It's a store of value, like gold that is also money like Bitcoin. A lot of it really depends on how you use it and even how you look at it. I've bought it and never spent it and it's not a currency to me, It's a store of value.

yes you may not have counterparty risk by holding your own bitcoin, but you have op-sec risk since you need to 1. make sure nobody finds your seed phrase and 2. you don't die without a beneficiary plan. it needs to be thought out well.

The amount of BTC is capped at 21 million, guaranteeing scarcity and it being a store of value. But the amount of XRP is capped at 500 billion. It allows international payments in the blink of an eye. Why would BTC be a better store of value than XRP?

Why do you think Bitcoin core is centralized? Taproot and segwit did not appreciably harm Bitcoin unless you're still fighting the block wars... And are still a Craig Wright fan Too much Adam Back and block stream? When China lost 65% of the hash rate due to their profoundly stupid decision, Bitcoin was quite rapidly Decentralized... Are you worried about foundry? Any of these big pools are a function of a lot of people in them with no one person controlling it all... They could all pull out. It's kind of like the dumb argument about Black Rock owning so much Bitcoin... No they have custody but not ownership for most all the Bitcoin that represents their ETF... Huge difference that would never afford them abuse without being destroyed themselves.
