This game is 10 to so many people, some elderly Chinese who never play games or with prejudice against games is watching live stream of it happily cause they love the original story, it reached a very high level in both culture and entertainment.
@@Weloveyurii It's important to note that the language and literary prose used in the game is old Chinese poetry style (classical Chinese). Dialogue and journal entries are written in a very sophisticated manner that most Chinese players probably won't understand completely. It might take a Chinese literature professor to fully appreciate the in game writing. Sadly, this means it doesn't translate well into English. It's like reading Shakespeare and then translating it to Chinese, you will get the definition of what is being written but the artistry is lost.

Most Chinese kids who finished high school can comprehend this writing just fine but to get it 100%, that takes a lot more knowledge since the game has a ton of material taken straight out of old poems written hundreds of years ago. Heck, even the Chinese characters flashed on screen when you defeat a yaoguai king is actually scanned directly from ancient calligraphy scroll.

Really enjoyed your analysis, definitely feel like some people are so quick to say a game isn’t a 10/10 and will pick apart every single detail but a 10/10 game is whatever game you just loved playing imo

The only game where reading the Journal Entry for bosses and even mobs is actually worth reading. A lot of games I never check cause they don't feel like they have anything to add, in which surprise surprise, they don't but this one, every Journal Entry has a meaning and really does give context on why a certain interaction in the game for stuff happened.
@@Mrwhomeyou agreed, it’s definitely something you need to look into to appreciate even more. I’m bias because I know the lore. If you go in raw and skip rush the game then people are their own enemy atp
it is totally fine though, the way i see it is 8/10 score is for people who dont know or dont care for the story/culture, 9/10 for ppl who knows the story and lastly 10/10 if u know the story and some understanding of asian culture elements (buddist/zen/daoist)) which will give u even a stronger punch or feelings towards the game. since they set the bar very high even without considering the story. the game can still be 8/10 just for play mechanics and boss designs, music, graphics. which IGN rated at one point? lol
In my opinion, what actually makes Elden Ring feel harder to play, is that it is easy to fall off the cliffs, and there are many mobs around everywhere, I feel stressed everywhere except standing on the bonfire spot. If you kill bosses in ER with Let Me Solo Her's or Ongbal's style (dodge, melee attacks, and parry), it is difficult. But to be fair, you also need to compare with the same style in BMW. If you kill bosses without using a lot of immobilize skill and transform, only use the melee attacks, See Through, and Hardening. Then it is also difficult to play. And in BMW, some bosses are easier, some are very difficult. ER fans don't need to be angry. Coz BMW made many players who never played ER or Dark Soul interested to have a try after they finish BMW. Because they heard that BMW is similar to Soul like game, and they finished BMW maybe they can also challenge ER too. Same for God of War.
Exactly!!! 100%. I think the comparison is null they can both be made harder or easier technically. It’s funny that toxic souls players will say summons is cheating but use all the spells and even “pluck of many” (a summon) in this game but say it’s too easy. Spell binder existing is the games way of saying here’s a slightly harder way for you combat lovers.
The music，the graphics，the art works，the story，the authenticy…are on the next level. The last time I had this feeling was back in 2019 playing RDR2 for the first time in my life，now that young boy is replaced with a sorrow old man like that old monkey.

In RDR2，you can make the choice to abandon the old lifestyle of being a crook and seek redemption in the remaining lifetime；in BMW，the journey is destined to be challenging and uncertain. If the player isn‘t as bright as Sun Wukong in the book who figured out clues based on small details，the young monkey will never be able to overcome his tests to find Erlang and retrieve the last relic. Basically RDR2 represents redemption and BMW represents destiny.
Not all people realise each chapter is based on the story of the Chinese Classic Journey to the West. People who have read the book or watched the drama series could relate to the game more.
exactly as i went through i noticed the game essentially found a very smart way to tell the same story but having Wukong as the main protaganist and go through the same journey. thy couldn't tell the same story everyon knows so they made us go through it again but the future. what wa your favourite chapet?
To Chinese players the music is fantastic, the theme song literally gave me goosebumps. Chinese players have the culture background privilege, we understand better of how much efforts the dev team made in details, especially on story telling and literature. 冯骥 himself is a huge fan of traditional Chinese literature.
Yea the music is great and there’s a lot of great songs I just wish they were used more or maybe pushed onto the player more so you can appreciate it. I think my point got misconstrued so I’ll work on communicating it more effectively in the next video. Music is great I just wasn’t remembering it which I usually do look out for it.

Even though this is a linear game it has a lot of replayability value, I replayed it to get all achievements and I still didn’t get every weapon, stance, spirit, transformation or armour there’s still a ton to do in this masterpiece of a game
Yea I did majority in my first playthrough so all I had to do was an extra staff and bull armour. Deffo has a lot, if it was in my living room I’d be playing it casually for fun all the time
If we really want to compare the two, the big difference is that i wanted to finish Wukong, but i felt like i had to finish ER because i already paid for it.
I agree. DLC made me feel that way but maybe was because I was recording it & was tired of it. The games amazing but having to work so hard to just get the full deep story is not the best for me personally. Still a great game though.
I played the first 2 chapters.... at that moment i was like ok, this is a 8. 8 max. by the time I beat the game first time, this game is easily a 10. EASILY.
agreed, my love for it was from the tiger vanguard. loved him in the book and loved the clever way to make it a new character. took me a while to realise though i must admit
You are totally right… it’s on you, because some people said this game is harder than Elden ring… I say the game is very easy/ very hard… and yes some of the bosses can take up maybe 5 hours or longer based on you .. but like he said it’s very different then a lot of others … for me the easier bosses were harder while some of the harder bosses only took me a few times… so everyone is different and if people said this game is super easy don’t feel bad and give up because if it did take you let’s say 6 months lol bet…. Well now that’s money week spent…. Very addictive game I say have not been this hooked since sekiro
Oh don’t get me wrong they are amazing and in my gameplay (all in my playlists) I definitely react to how great it is but I’m always listening for the score in everything and I was surprised I wasn’t blown away more. For example Ghost of Tsushimas score was a 10. Hope you see what I mean now
imo elden ring is easier cuz of summons. also in Elden ring i can just turn away and run from the bosses attack. In wukong, if you try to run away the bosses track you like the IRS
Combat could have used work. I did like the skill trees but most of the skill involved is working around the animation locks. That + as you mentioned, pretty bad hitboxes - I had a lot of fights where I got sucked into attacks even though I had input dodge a good half second before connection. The quarterstaff doesn't have impact (audio issue) and I would expect flashier martial moves and combos. The invisible walls everywhere also speak to the mediocre level design. There's a lot of room for improvement.

It could definitely be perfected but my main take is overall the game and combat was fun and I loved playing it and every game that’s viewed a 10 has a lot of flaws in the same degree. Tho the game was cut short due to budget too so I’ll give it benefit of the doubt What your saying is true though for sure my reviews are just never overly in depth as the average gamer for fun won’t care about combos
Yea that’s fair enough brother the game definitely has a skill requirement but is beatable by anyone who has time on their side and a lot of people don’t or would rather spend it on something less gruelling
Absolutely not a 10. A solid 9 though. A couple updates and they can make to get it to 10. There are some frustrating mechanics and design ideas (and frame drops, and camera issues) that can be adjusted, still, I say GOTY for sure. I don't compare this to ER. Except that they both have no kind of map or direction. I think the boss fights in this had too much scripting and interruptions with health-stealing cutscenes that look cool, but took away from the flow, where in ER you have very tough bosses, but many more approaches to defeat them.
Ahahah don’t worry I’m aware if you want to pick apart the game entirely it’s not perfect I just think anyone who actually enjoys playing games and story games especially will consider it a 10 and because everyone can play it and enjoy it it’s most definitely a 10 in the bigger picture.

Oh I’m for sure bias, I’m very aware how much I liked it and know the book influenced my choice but my whole ethos for the video is it’s actually a 10 people just look into details a lot when sometimes it’s not necessary. No game is really perfect but this comes close (to me) but 100% has some issues. I like how broad peoples experiences were and glad people have mixed reviews

Imo I'd give it a 4, chapter 1 and 2 are 100% A 10, The other ones are so un fun its not funny, every boss from after chapter 2 is a fucking gimmick, and also even SOME bosses that aren't are just downright REALLLY REALLLLY HARD, like harder than sekiro and elden ring's dlc, every boss in chapter 6 has like 6 billion health, and they are all gimmick fights, not fun 4/10.
no maps, no exploration, repetitive combat, poor performance on console, awful potions system, boring Boss animations, obscure cutscenes with meaningless and bland lines, game is hyped asf🤣 this game ain’t winning goty and doesn’t deserved to be nominated, 7/10 at best. The only good about this game is visual due to UE5. Y’all are delusional for saying that this cheap souls copy is goty, it’s just not.
