How clean are your brake rotors? Have you checked recently? Do you feel shaking when applying your brakes? If so, you may want to watch this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hG6f-ybO3nU.html Thanks for watching. You know aswell as i do its just as important doing the back with the front. It still gets pretty dirty and build up behind the rotor. But good video

Good point. It’s worth trying to spray some brake clean in there even if it’s hard to access. Thanks for watching! 👍

Is this something that should be done as “maintenance” or only if you’ve been working in the area with the wheel off?
@HandyHudsonite
@HandyHudsonite 3 года назад
Generally, when you've been working in that area it's a good idea to clean it off when you're done. However, if you notice any grease is on the rotor you should clean it off, front and back. Thanks so much for checking out my video!

Can you use a metal brush to clean rust off rotors
@9piecewood
@9piecewood 9 месяцев назад
I’d say no, you don’t want uneven scratches on the stopping surface
@keenanryan8735
@keenanryan8735 10 месяцев назад
My rotors have a coating of rust around the whole outside edge - so I guess I will have to remove the rotor, remove the rust carefuly with a wire brush or file, and then clean and reinstall the rotor

I just bought a vehicle and before I bought it I test drove it and heard like a grinding every time I’d hit the brakes coming from only the back brakes and rotors. I asked the man who sold it to me about that issue and he said it’s just dust on the rotors cause the car has been sitting in the lot for a while. He told me to drive it for a while and I’d go away, would spraying some of this help it out ?
@asylumofghosts672
@asylumofghosts672 3 года назад
No you need new pads. And since its been 8 months since this comment, probably new rotors too. If you feel your brake pedal pulsating when you press it, you need new rotors. That pulsating is warped rotors.
@eduardo13405
@eduardo13405 3 года назад
@@asylumofghosts672 thanks I did eventually change the rotors they said my brakes were still pretty good. But even if I don’t move the vehicle for a whole day I can still hear a little of the grinding but goes away after I drive it for a little bit.
@asylumofghosts672
@asylumofghosts672 3 года назад
@@eduardo13405 in the future if you ever replace rotors go ahead & do the pads too. The pads are usually around 20 bucks. Rotors are much more. If you're absolutely sure the pads are okay then the last thing to try is a brake fluid flush. Cars been sitting too long, fluid gets messed up. Usually cheap to have that done at most places. Goodluck.
@asaelalvarez7987
@asaelalvarez7987 3 года назад
@@eduardo13405 you might need to check your calipers if it still makes that noise. It could be pushing your brake pads together even if you’re not pushing on the brakes. I had that same problem and it was my calipers. Bough a new one and don’t hear that sound anymore.

Similar thing here buying a 2nd hand car that was sat on the lot for 3 months. Was told it’s dust & rust and would go with driving it. Seems quite pitted though. Could you take some sandpaper to the rotors to smooth it out then some brake cleaner fluid? Thanks
@cenkaytekin
@cenkaytekin 2 года назад
Nice video! If using CRC Brakleen Pro, would it damage the pads or anything on the brake assembly? Especially plastic parts if any. I am asking this because I am considering to spray it like you do without disassembling the whole brake assembly. I feel that it could be a routine to clean it this way after tire change. My only concern whether it's safe to spray without disassembling.
@chang.stanley
@chang.stanley 2 года назад
Probably shouldn't get it on the rubber piston boot inside the brake caliper. Not sure why you would even be dirtying the brake rotor surface during a tire change though
