Maybe I saw a different interview but the interview I saw the coach went on and on about Trey Lance. He definitely believes in, likes and supports Trey Lance. He said he was proud of him. He said Trey has gone through a lot having been injured twice and how Trey got down about it but didn't stay down. He also said Trey Lance has a bright future as a quarterback. If I can locate the interview, I'll post it here. I watched it a few days ago. It is a recent 2023 interview.
These guys like to paint some ulterior motive like they secretly are not wanting Trey Lance to succeed, kind of like a Kaepernick. The reality is if you connect the dots between Trey's injuries, throwing mechanic issues, accuracy it's pretty obvious that he's more of a long term project. He still has a big upside the question is can he do it right now. Trey still is throwing some wobblers, he still might not have his mechanics still 100% locked in. Really how can he be better than Brock or Sam with some fundamental throwing issues, and the 49ers know this, but they also see him getting better.

I tried to mute/block this account but it keeps popping up in my feed. The 49ers would start Trey Lance in a heartbeat if he could out play Brock Purdy, or any other QB. They're going with Brock Purdy because he demonstrated he was ready to be a starting QB but not just a starting QB, a starter that can win and win playoff games. Haason Reddick and the Eagles took out both 49ers' QBs for a reason. They didn't want to compete against a healthy, fully equipped Niners team. Darius Slay said as much in a couple of interviews. Brock Played almost half of a season and was one injury away from the Super Bowl. The 49ers' organization can't ignore this reality. And, it is reality. It has nothing to do with the 49ers not liking, believing in or supporting Trey Lance. When Trey Lance started the Niners were prepared to go through a development phase with him. Then he was injured. Then Jimmy G was injured. Then Brock Purdy came in and exceeded expectations. What are the 49ers supposed to do, go back to the development phase with Trey Lance because they drafted him as they did? No, that's sunk cost fallacy, and it would be a HUGE mistake. Things happen in life, we all know this. All of the 49ers' QBs have had a difficult time, not only Trey Lance. It is what it is. I like all of the Niners' QBs. I want them all to be happy and succeed. But the QB position is a position for one man on the field at a time. It is Brock Purdy's time until it isn't. He's already demonstrated he's ready to roll. But this doesn't mean Trey Lance won't ever have another opportunity. I believe he will. Especially, with how the 49ers' QBs get injured.
Like I said on another guys video. If I was Trey I would be looking forward to getting a trade to somewhere they actually want him. Why do you think Trey kept saying is all I want is an opportunity. That alone tells me theirs a lot of politics going on. I can almost guarantee if Jim Harbaugh had Trey we wouldn’t be in this position.

Brock Purdy was ready to go immediately! I don’t care how many draft picks we gave up for Lance he wasn’t ready, we didn’t lose a step with Brock at center, just an unfortunate injury…. Burrow came back from his and Purdy will as well.
Griese just doesnt like the fact that Trey is flourishing with another coach LMFAO. Having said that i do hope they trade Trey and he balls out somewhere else. Great synopsis guys, I believe if given the chance to develop and play without looking over his shoulder he could be proficient in our system.Guys look who he is working out with and is utilizing Patrick Mahomes quarterback coach for he wants to get better but is not getting the support he needs which is unfortunate. I truly believe Kyle doesn’t knows what to do with a top tier quarterback for he doesn’t invest in the O-Line in order to keep the quarterback healthy and given the fact that Trey may never materialize in Kyles system and go somewhere else and flourish same old habits I just hope that it doesn’t come back to haunt us .😢49er4Life🏈
When jimmy got hurt it was because Debo didn’t block when he was supposed to. If you’re in the backfield you have to at least touch the pass rusher. Debo is the absolute worst blocker in the nfl.
Griese knows that and improvement shown by Trey won't be credited to him; his body language shows him low key rooting against the kid smh. I know some will view this and wanna throw shade, but idk who's the QB as long as we win, so take your negativity elsewhere please ✌🏽
When asked after he was named QB coach if he was excited to be able to work with Trey or if Trey was part of the reason he came to the Niners, he responded by saying that he didn't consider it and that he just needed a job. Shows his true character and work ethic. Guess he is only there for the paycheck.
They are talking about Trey Lance as though, they know an uncomfortable situation is in the winds. They want to address the world and the team as though the issue is settled because Brock is the guy and they wish the media would stop asking questions that force them to talk up his backup...even though they dont actually know that and they also arent REALLY running this off season as if Trey has a shot at taking the spot. But they cant say that. I guarantee there is far more to this whole situation than we know lol

It's a hard thing to convey correctly in a comment but what I am suggesting is, even though everyone involved in the entire 49ers sphere, from players to owners to fans and ball boys, knows full well it is very possible for Trey to go through this off-season process and be the clear cut best option, there are a few or maybe even a bunch of the coachs/team that have already made a choice and want to completely disregard Trey as an option. The discomfort comes whenever asked about Trey and the competition because they REALLY don't want to have to go backwards and admit they were wrong or someone else was right or whatever. It's all speculation obviously because we aren't in the organization obviously but, that's the sort of behavior/language I pick up. I also wonder about where exactly the choice to move up and get Trey came from in the front office...if it was an ownership decision and Kyle was basically overridden in his preference, this whole scenario starts to make A LOT more sense. Kyle's play calling.....the lack of coaching Trey up beginning day ONE. The failure to treat Trey as if he was the biggest investment in draft capital the team had made in years/decades as is evidenced by the "don't bother" mentality toward his mechanics....
Trey should just ask for a trade . I'm a avid Niner fan since 1980... and despite this - I'm hoping Trey leaves and excels with another team . We deserve to suffer at this point. 3 # 1's ..and all of the sudden we're treating our investment like an unwanted step child. First I had to deal with Santa effin' Clara housing the team in a broken rotisserie stadium ... then the management points Harbaugh to the door....THEN they allow Jimmy G to become a mega millionaire. Trey was a 2nd year player and Brock was a rookie but Griese came in Brock's rookie year so yes Brock and Trey we're the first young QBs he coached. He couldn't answer that question because either way it was a shot at one of his QBs!

Greise has not taken credit for anything. He worked with Brock bc he was the QB1. He didn't work with Trey until now bc he was hurt. So much blaming others related to Trey. We don't yet know about Trey's progress and won't know until camp and preseason. This narrative that the coaches want Trey out is not factual.

If Sam Darnold was good, why didn't any other team didn't pick him up besides the 49ers. Because he knows he's not the long term answer at quarterback, the 49ers feel good about Brock Purdy being the long term answer at quarterback than Trey Lance.

Curious, if mechanics or finger were a problem. Why did Niners start Trey last season. It seems the Niners did give Trey a chance. Unfortunately, he got hurt. The main job of the QB is the the ball down field to the open guy. Like the coach said, the QB is going to throw the way they have been throwing especially when things breakdown. The head coach had RG3, he got beat up running. Niners don't need a Murray or Lamar or Wilson (in his prime) like QB. Niners got to the SB with Jimmy. Niners got RB, TE, WR stars, use them. This is the NFL or not for long league. Its win now, there is a short development window because salary cap, rookie salary options. Trey came out early, got injured, couldn't develop, but unless he shows why he was worth 3 #1s. Niners have to move on. Just can't afford to pay for his development as Niners will lose their stars to salary cap. Brady knew the QB needs a team to win, so he didn't take the highest salary. Niners defense lost many players this off season, will the replacement be as good. Every yr the team must decide who they can keep within salary cap. Everyone will be replaced eventually. Montana, Rice, etc....

It is so dispiriting to hear here over and over how awful the niners organization is in general and the coaching staff in particular. Their blindness to Trey's elite potential and amazing talents is an abomination. Maybe more sophisticated organization can offer us what Trey is truly worth and Trey can win there SB after SB after SB.
Did you watch the first game last year that trey lost. Trey can have all the talent in the nfl but if he doesn’t learn the playbook you can’t play. Quarterback coach is upset because it’s 3rd year and he hasn’t learned the playbook where Purdy learned in 4 months .
Give me a beak. Trey had one good year of college football, 4 years ago, against inferior competition at North Dakota State. It ain’t the 49ers, it’s Trey. If it wasn’t Trey, there be plenty of teams trying to trade for him. Or maybe no other team in the NFL is able to understand Trey’s elite potential, much more likely than Trey just not being a starting caliber NFL QB.

If Lance is great he will win the job. Competition is good for all 4. Best healthiest person starts. His problem may be accuracy. The coaches, players and media know what they see. Time will tell.

Trey doesn’t know the playbook. Trey doesn’t make the quick decisions that Purdy makes. Purdy has a faster split 40 than Trey and the highest rating in the nfl.
Someone needs to ask Kyle, why does he have a drill that makes QB's use their upper body and not their lower body when they throw? This is huge, I guess the Shanahan's both like this drill (QB's shuffle back and forth with a bag between their legs). Talk about practicing bad habits.

I watch 10 worse QB in NFL by nonstop. All were highly rated. But all were bust. Just show how hard its to evaluate a QB. Arm strength isn't the most important factor. Its reading n reacting n ball placement. Many of these QB played at higher level college than Trey. Even played more games in college. What did Niners see in Trey, that was worth so many #1 picks. I would compare to existing QB. Is Trey is good as Az Murray or Baltimore Lamar. Its unfair to Trey, but that how it breaks sometimes. He played at a lower level of competition. Same at higher level too, was it the competition that made a player look so good. Niner need to win now, salary cap prevent n time prevent them from going with unknown. They just don't know what they have in Trey, not his fault. He was chosen by a different group. Current QB coach didn't pick him, so he would be his top choice. Assume the niners brought in Griese to help Trey, but he maybe couldn't help him improve because of his injury n mechanics. Sounds like Head Coach likes Prudy if healthy. I heard the Head Coach wanted the Pats QB before draft. Wonder who convinced him, that Trey was better n worth 3 #1s. But talk about bad QB choices, Cleveland keeps picking QB that don't turn out. Is it the coach, team, scheme or system, or plan to develop the QB, or just the player they choose. Or is it too much to expect a QB to win games with a so so defense n suspect offense. Maybe, all of these factors. Some teams have been bad forever. Niners are so close to SB. They just need someone just a liitle better than Jimmy, who can get the damn ball to the RB, TE, WRs. No Kap n RG3 runs.
Griese will sit there and be down on Trey and once Trey is winning watch how they all change direction and say how great Trey is. I think Griese will be fired after this season.
