The Roebling industrial complex that manufactured the cables in NJ is now a marketplace and an apartment complex called Roebling Lofts. There's still cable tensioning machinery and artifacts in the buildings.

The decision to march a parade of elephants across the Brooklyn Bridge goes beyond the obvious. Even into the 20th Century, people widely believed quite a number of bromides as being axiomatic - chief among these was the belief that elephants had something of a 'sixth sense' and that they would never step upon anything which couldn't reliably support them. (There appears to be some veracity to this belief, as there were times when an elephant absolutely refused to cross a bridge and it was found to be structurally deficient.)

Your graphic conflated suspension bridges with cable stayed bridges in a pretty misleading way. It's only a suspension bridge if the road hangs from suspension cables strung between towers. It's cable stayed if the cables directly connect from the tower to the road

please post timestamp - I can only see a graphic that shows a road hanging from suspension cables.

2:26 the cable on the top is the suspension cable, but instead of also highlighting the cables that connect the deck to the suspension cable (suspenders), they instead highlight the cables that directly connect from the tower to the deck (stay cables)
