@@philmanke7642 go look up their blade battery yourself. It uses LFP I believe which is the safest chemistry at the moment, and the structure of the blade battery can be physically shot through and not catch fire.
Even a nut on this car may have been made by BYD itself. In addition, BYD has its own complete technology in circuit design, electronic control, and battery, and has been deeply cultivated for many years.
I think BYD will be a force. They build basic, no frills vehicles. None of that lifestyle nonsense, or overpriced premium features. They made their name on heavy bases, trucks.
Yes, BYD is definitely the Chinese sleeping giant. The mainstream manufacturers wouldn't know what'll hit them when BYD goes all out and encroaches into the low-end/budget/entry level segments with their EVs 👍
I also think this is where people will consider Chinese vehicles, atleast for the coming years. If that succeeds they might have a chance in the luxury segment
I am a Chinese. I sold my old car last year and wanted to buy a BYD, but it was sold too well at that time. Wait for 3-6 months to collect the car after making a reservation. So I didn't choose BYD and chose PHEV of other brands, so I regret it now. The sales volume of BYD is actually restricted by the production capacity of the factory, so that at this moment, it still takes three months to buy the popular BYD models in China. BYD will have five new factories put into operation before the end of this year, which will be much better at that time.
Great video mate thanks, I’ve gone with an extended range Atto 3 to replace my 24 Kw Nissan Leaf for all the reasons you listed as well as the Australian importers look to be setting up an expanding dealer network for BYD which I think is important in encouraging uptake in regional areas, reports on build quality seem good so far.
Men they're doing great we all drive a byd I have 2 years driving a yuan 400 and a 2020 tang 500 and I can tell you the unique fail and is suspension is to solid but that's it they do what they sell you the economy is giant the warranty here in Costa Rica is 8 years on batteries and 6 yeand in the car and chasis and also we have free superchargers for gbt ports so is quite a nice business so am in byd for sure and I will keep on buying them cars
Unfortunately I live in the USA. With the 25% tariff on Chinese cars currently in place, we are stuck with few choices. We are limited almost exclusively to higher-end vehicles and no economic choices. No ID 3, No Dolphin, No MG, No anything that is smaller more efficient or cheaper. Even the Chevy Bolt which recently saw a 6000$us drop in price requires a monthly on-star subscription for standard car functions of 50$us per month. The basic service is 25$us but only covers OTA updates. We are being forced into the 40,000$ plus price range for behemoth cars which are inefficient and expensive.
@@GlowingTube the Seal long range is advertised at 700km range. A very nice looking sedan however I think it will be priced at just a bit under model 3.
BYD has experience in building EVs, BYD already building Electric buses, and most advanced batteries for EVs, I would buy a BYD EV if it is here in America, before anything else.
I will be taking delivery of a red Atto 3 as my fist EV after a long wait of 7 months. I look forward to experiencing the benefits of EV technology from this car and after watching your video, I am even more confident of my choice. Thanks.
Chinese EVs are actually extremely cheap, but the tariffs and local dealership markups raised the price significantly. Too bad this isn't a free world and normal civilians are paying the price.
One of the features that attracts me to the BYD Atto 3 is the ability to interface it into our alternative powered house ,having a 240 volt outlet plug on the car. During the day the solar panels can charge the car battery and at night the car battery can run the house. Not sure on the amount of energy you can draw from car battery but should be enough for lighting and fridge etc. Will be test driving one very soon!
On the parts while EVs may be more robust mechanically. However all cars can be a fender bender/accident parts such as a taillight are still likely to get broken.
I have a 2023 BYD Atto 3 long range and had a towbar fitted to it so I can tow the trailer which all the other 5 EVs that I have owned you couldn't tow with and the Atto 3 is the best by far for comfort and handling, I have owned and imported EVs for 7 years now and their is no going back to the old ICE vehicles now. New Zealand
Yes, this is the Chinese sleeping giant which is going to overtake mainstream car manufacturers, who are so used to the car dealer/servicing revenue model. Toyota is probably just starting to realise this as they have pushed for hybrids continuously
Lol fudge Im old, ICE driver, for 52 years! First lessons on the dirt road besides the Honiara airfield and the WW2 control tower built by the Japanese!
BYD definitely is a game changer. If mainstream manufacturers ignore this, they might get themselves in a difficult situation 5 years from now when EV adoption is even better 👍
Personally the Aptera is first choice due to the ideas of designing for efficiently moving through the air and two seats plus sleeping area…with the Atto 3 second due the BYD batteries being safer and the KISS design principle as I dont need the expensive designs…although I don’t need the self drive lane thing as. i can do this myself for free…cant afford any of these yet anyway…darn! Stuck in ICE mode! Thanks Laurie Tokoroa NZ.
162.5k byd ev sold in the single month of july. plenty of people know why. best value for the buck, bar none! some of the best technologies in the world, bar none.
If I was in China I would consider BYD but I'm in California so I'm in with a beautiful Tesla model 3, most likely has the LFP BYD battery in it as BYD provided Tesla with batteries around this time.
In my country, Malaysia, many house are landed property. I heard that BYD do have wireless charging technology that allow charger install in the ground and auto charge when you park. Not sure if this is true?
no, not at this point. wireless charging sacrifice efficiency for convenience. it makes more senses for buses - a little bit at every stop without getting pluged in.
Here's why China now owns Ford, GM, Tesla, VW and Toyota. China now controls most of the materials that make new cars, is this end of Ford, GM, Chevy, Cadillac, Dodge in America? Chinese BYD builds new EV for Toyota, and they also makes blade batteries for Tesla. Will Chinese cars replace American cars in the future?
Yeah, I think that car will be a game changer on the lower end. It will eventually eradicate the overpriced 3rd gen Leafs we have here in NZ, and bring forth more EV adoption.
🇬🇧 company quality is one thing, design and control ergonomics is another. I am regularly baffled with stupid design decisions. Indicators that the designers/stylists have 'lost the plot' : No rear wash wipe. Ridiculous! Often used functions on a screen menu or sub menu. Often used controls should 'fall to hand without the need to look' Touch sensitive button rather than mechanical buttons and knobs. These are often accidentally touched, especially on steering wheel. No handbrake. It was easy, instinctive and analogue. Flush pop out door handles. Try opening your car when it's iced up. Generally overly complex. If you hire an EV, are you safe to just get in and drive ? Or should you spend hours with the manual?
Generally, new ones are fine. I suppose the only ones you need to change are tyres because of weight + instant torque. BYD claims their batteries last longer than other EV batteries. 👍
👍💪👏🇸🇬 Tesla emphasized on AP and FSD, whereas BYD emphasized on blade battery. Which is more important, safety or auto-drive? Taiwanese singer Jimmy Lin injured after his Tesla crashes; car burst into flames
Gotta disagree here, at least in Sydney. The average car travels 30-50km a day. Trickle charging overnight is enough to cover this. Plus, trickle charging is better for battery health.
@@elmohead Trickle charging is just doggone inconvenient. Level 2 charging to 85% a few times a month isn't going to hurt battery health and I've been driving an ev since 2018.
@@TrainsFerriesFeet like I said, the average car travels about 40km a day. Unless you travel 300km a day or smth, you don't need a lv2. But then again, you'd be going to the servo everyday if you travel 300km a day...
Yeah no kidding mate.. when I saw the Philippines pricing.. I was like 'This is crazy', I mean the infrastructure is not there for charging and they're already pricing it out at the cost of an arm and leg.
@@ChargingStation1337 all cars are expensive in phillipine, more so in singapore. i guess consumers have to compare laterally and decide whatb offers best value within their market. otherwise, everyone will be grumpy if they pay too much attention on how affordable evs are in china.
You do sound like you are quite smart in this dissertation on BYD cars. Why are you professing that BYD have parts available? Why do you think that extra parts means better cars? I doubt that having extra parts means that BYD build better cars. In the world we live in right now that extra part mantra simply put means that they are designing those parts to fail and that you will need to replace those parts because they were meant to fail at some point to be replaced by YOU. BUT with a TESLA they have the best charging infrastructure PLUS they use less parts and do not design their cars to fail. Being Cheap does not mean being frugal. Cheap means CHEAP, and you sound like cheap is the way forward. More BYD cars whether they are an EV or an ICE vehicle are built cheap so that they will break and they are sold so inexpensively because they are going to do what all of the traditional automakers have done for the past 100 years. Sell a car inexpensively because they get you to come in to replace parts. Nice video, but lacks content in the correct direction. BYD is no better than a legacy auto manufacturer in this case.
Extra parts I'm referring to can also mean panels, headlights, etc. which you would need when someone has rammed into your car on a typical insurance claim... These parts, because they are bigger, are usually shipped via sea, as will be very expensive through air and therefore will take time if there are not enough available. 👍
@@ChargingStation1337 Those parts are not what your video implies. You made allusion to spare parts. Body panels are not ever considered to be parts by anyone in the automotive world. I may appear to be dumb, but I did not fall off the apple cart yesterday.
not true. new phev's run mostly as bev's, meaning no gas consumption, 0. only on long trips you turn the motor on. toyota junks don't move unless you burn some gas.
@@SuperFredAZwell, 95% of the time their fuel consumption is 0, just like bev. that is the point. the rest of the 5% time, they keep going while bev stop to charge at rest area.
@@qilu2004 I personally think these hybrids are very good, you can build 4 of them and use the same number of batteries as a full-battery electric vehicle. The point I was making is the Chinese government made it seem that BYD is leading the world in Battery electric vehicles. The two categories should be separated and reported.
@@SuperFredAZ what does chinese government have to do with it? byd has been very respectful to tesla, and only focused on doing their own things. the race is on, and the race will be long. so no need to rush any conclusion.
Not sure why Chinese EV buyers are still buying Teslas. They should support Chinese EVs like BYD, Xpeng, Li and Nio. Guess Chinese are not so patriotic as we believe
@@MegaTonyng Tesla is the gold standard in electric cars. I have driven them and the finish is perfect. BYD seem promising but still got a way to go to catch the quality of Tesla.
@@qilu2004 The efficiency, power delivery, handling performance, motor performance, battery efficiency, charging speed, software, app controls. All of it is better. There's more plastic in a BYD, for sure. Almost everything on a Model 3 is soft-touch vegan leather.
@@britishmalayasociety i drive a han ev awd, cheaper than a base version model 3, I can assure you pretty much on every aspect it beats model 3 easily. range, power, size, luxury features. there is no plastic in my cabin, all fully powered nappa leather seat with heat and ventilation, real wood trims, premium sounds, making my bmw x5 looks pitiful in comparison. you just don't know what good evs look like because you have no access to them.
Good byd commercial … obviously … and my first choice would be Tesla … as only Tesla is really innovative beyond the Automotive basics… byd would probably be my second choice … and as a stock investment too Or a Kia eventually … But TESLA IS A TEN BYD Is a 5 … as is Kia GM is out of business they just don’t know it yet. Ford might make it VW just slit their own throat And Toyota is still pretending they have lots of time. Tesla … Byd … will rule the industry … software is why Tesla is so far ahead and chargers …TESLA FSD will not allow CLOSE COMPARISONS… for 10 years … and by then the rest will be irrelevant!
All cars are combustible, mate... like literally an ICE car has petrol, which is highly flammable. Supposed you would put in consideration the % of that occurrence relative to active units. 👍
