I sold my FE501 Husqvarna for the CRF450 L and do not regret it in the least. It is simply a better engineered bike, more precise, reliable and after market support is best in class. This bike just needs the engine to be opened up a little and it can be compared to the exc450 or 500. It’s a Honda so it won’t breakdown
Great video. I own a 450RL with over 18,000 miles of absolute reliability and the valves are still in spec with the original shims. I’ve got it setup as an ultralight ADV bike. I tried the 500exc-f but that motor is way too buzzy. The GET SX1 ecu and Graves exhaust is crazy good! And I’ve owned them all. Keep up the good work.
I traded the AIM ECU for the GET ECU (SX-1). That fixed the quirky low rpm stalling issue. With an FMF Muffler and the air box lid removed, my 2022 RL goes plenty fast for me. Very torquey too. The great suspension, smoothness and reliability makes the Honda a winner. I wouldn't trade it for any KTM.
I have the 450L and I adore the bike for its intended purpose. What a fantastic machine. I tried the KTM 500 and for my riding, I much prefer the Honda.
Love the quality of this Honda bike! Once I modded out ECU, exhaust, tires and put on the RSC clutch lever, the 450RL just feels more engaging and quality than the KTM. Just planted and goes straight through desert whoops at 4th gear speed. It is very durable, including the stock turn signals, kick stand and headlight- all of these are annoyingly poor quality on my buddy’s ‘22 KTM 500 EXCF. Fixable tho.
All in all this video really nails all the major points, you're doing well young man. So I've mentioned my T7 before, I'm most familiar with dirt bikes from 30+ years ago, I had a Kawasaki KDX 200 and a yamaha WR 200. Those bikes did well on hair scrambles. But now I'm 60 years old and I bought a T7 as an all around bike that I can also take my wife on rides. But that's what the Harley's for so I've got to ditch the T7. I'm going to my local dealer today to check out the two CRF450RL 's they have in stock. If I end up buying the Honda, I want to add some graphics to cover up some of the red. What are some good graphics companies that are still in business? I'll keep yeeall posted.
Great information Rodney! Would like to own one - almost bought one, got a 300 Rally instead. My decision was based on some of what you covered, maintenance schedule. The solutions you have installed have added much better maintenance intervals. Very smart! Thanks.
I was contemplating getting a 450RL in October, I nearly did, I called the dealership and got all the pricing. Last minute I changed my mind and went with a 690 enduro r because they were $1000cdn off at that exact time. So actually was cheaper than a 450RL and that was a no-brainer. The 690 has 74 horsepower.
I started my Honda career with an ATC 110 that I put about 10,000 miles on as a kid that thing was a tank! CR 125, then I got an 89 TRX 250 R fourtrax which I owned for over 30 years and sold it for more than I purchased it new. Now I’ve been riding an XR 650 L for the past 10 years. I was going to get a KTM 500 EXC however I’m going to stick with Honda and get one of these instead, Honda has never let me down.
Still on the fence about this one. Have a couple of friends with them. Did all the mods and still ended up selling. The other one is "mostly tolerable". I get the emissions requirements but still disappointing, grew up on Hondas as well. At this age the pain in the ass factor weighs heavily.
This reflects my views on them. I recently sold my old CRF450X and looked hard at these. There are too many doubts around them, particularly given that a proper test ride on one was not a possibility. Also, I'm sick of stalling and flameouts. I ended up with a Beta 480 and am most happy with that choice.
They are about to hit showrooms in Australia after being discontinued since 2020. Have a feeling they are going to sell well, lots of people getting tired of the big expensive heavy adventure bikes , that are basically too heavy to pick up after being dropped . A 450 sub 145kg wet bike that can do 60 mph on the highway easily all day and night ,and tear up the dirt, plus wheelstand at will , and can actually do jumps with stock suspension ..should be a hit down under .
Yes, the weight issue is very scary off-road I’ve been riding an XR 650 L and I’ve dumped it over several times and even that is very difficult to pick up, which is why I want something lightweight as possible like this
How great was the wr250r back in 2008.....not lightest or most powerful. ! The CRF is awesome.. We need yamaha to build the wr350/400/450r. So many great choices depending on your needs
So sad I'm in South africa 🇿🇦 this bike was on sale one year 2017, and then they stopped selling them. I want to buy one but there's no stock available. I wonder if I could import one for a good price.
Great Video!! I have a 2023 CRF 450RL, with almost everything you have except for the exhaust and flywheel weight. Would I notice a difference adding the flywheel weight to a my highly modified 450 (I have a Taco Moto Get ECU)?
if youre happy with the throttle response I wouldn't worry about it, but I like mine and feel its the cheapest way to fix the stock throttle response. Thanks brother
My favourite bit about the flywheel weight is how it improves the L's 1st gear game. When you're slipping the clutch in 1st deflecting off rocks it just keeps chugging. Something the light MX style engines aren't great at. It makes it more forgiving to poor clutch work and easier to ride at slow speeds regardless of ecu. @@MobMoto
Why buy? Where are you guys even finding these things? Haven't seen a 450x or 450rl on a show floor in months out here. Tons of 450r's but I want the 6 speed transmission of the x / rl.
@@MobMoto Sounds good. Looks like the 2024's are hitting shelves cuz a couple phoenix dealers just got them in today. (or up on the website, anyway) Gotta call tomorrow
The quantity of extremely low milage used CRF450RL's for sale make me believe that this bike has problems... A local dealership has 3 for sale with less than 800 miles on each one.
I think its more performance than the average honda buyer is used to. The only problem is the throttle response, some say its not a problem others fix it with aftermarket parts. Its still honda reliability.
My 2022 450. F.R.L Is The stiffest suspension on any bike on the planet and I already had $900 of suspension work done to it. And it is Stiffer than a covered wagon
Hi Can you tell me the part number of that Reckluse clutch cover? because i asked my local dealer and said that clutch cover doesnt increase oil capacity
The Beta RRS bikes stock are light years better than the Honda 450RL and you don't have spend thousands of extra dollars to make them a good bike . No thanks Honda!
Haha, no suspension is perfect, but this suspension will cost less to get where you want it. You're probably used to a 300L suspension, but good suspension is stiff, and its easier to soften a suspension than stiffen them.
I’ve owned the husqvarna fe 450 and now the Honda. Honda feels better built, higher quality fit and finish. More durable engine, and better suspension. The husqvarna was great for tight trail riding. Super light and a fun overall bike. For me, the Honda is the better bike but it all depends on how you’re gonna use your bike.
