you can contact a publisher in India im sure one book will cost you 3-5$ depending on the quality(can go as low as 2$) if you have enough orders here than the publisher will print and ship your books in India. I remember a friend buying salman rusdie's book midnight's children for 3-4$ on a traffic signal when the same book was selling at 10x price in bookstores.

I do not know US tax laws but in Germany, you can import duty-free for a certain amount or price per item and trade. Maybe there exist also a duty-free export limit. Perhaps you can receive money as a donation and send a few Books as a gift or a sample declared on the envelop (Customs declaration). In this case you can act as a private citizen and not as a buisinessman to free you from export tax. Anyway losses should decrease your tax. Maybe these are useful keywords. But your acountance should already know that. You started that ? Holy moly. Contact a printing house in India.
Here's an idea to simplify the whole process. Professor, how about just sending the signed photos in a regular envelope - the postage will be much cheaper as well as less work for you, rather than stocking and packing the books.
Good day Professor, i just downloaded your Free EBook, and going through it right now. I am a big fan of your videos, which would have probably motivated me 26 years ago when i was student to go further ! I have a proposal to you unless you already have it in mind. As French, although in University most of the students have a fair level, learning english is still not seen as important as other matters. So there is a significant amount of students with good interest and knowledge in Physics, Maths...but lacking basic english to make your book accessible to them. I am sure they would love to see your books and will take a lot of benefits from it. I propose you , as a fan, to translate your book in french on my spare time, free of charge of course. Most books sent to the US have arrived and many in Europe and Australia have already arrived. However, long delays (several months) to Europe and Asia are possible in particular to India.
