I was working with a guy, and he is a Harley guy, I have a Honda VFR, 800, KAW ZX9R, a BMW K1200 GT, and we would go riding together, he was really the first person I went riding with, and he was a die hard Harley only guy. But I didn't like them. But then I saw the V-rod. That bike just blue me away. The prettiest bike I ever saw. I have the night rod. I had to have it. Out of my 4 bikes, it is the most fun to ride. Peace..
Everything expressed in this video is on the money !! I own a 2007 Vrod/Nightrod and it's the most fun I've had on any motorcycle ever. No matter where you go it gets lots of attention . My most favorite Harley . Will never get rid of it !
Hey, first time checking out your channel. I've been considering a V-rod for a while, and am pretty close to pulling the trigger on one available locally .. and you basically look a heck of a lot like John Cena, and I like John Cena, so I think this is what pushes me over the edge towards making that decision to buy. Thanks for the cool review!
I bought mine used…2012 V-Rod Muscle in Vivid Black and it only had 350 miles on it when I purchased in 2015 and was completely stock….I love it ! I’ll never sell it. All I added were the usual items…the old super tuner, exhaust, opened up the air box, Legend Revo-A rear suspension and HID headlight.
Was that new suspension affecting ground clearance in your cornering? Thought about adding it but need every inch here in the North, GA/NC mountains- some nice twisties up here.
If you watch that documentary you’re talking about. You’ll know exactly just how American and Harley Davidson the VRod really is. I actually bought 2 V Rod’s. One is identical to your white one, I’m keeping that stock other than the Vansen Hines duel exhaust. The other is an 09 vivid black muscle, that I’m gonna custom out. I already have a 200 mm front tire on and a three 330mm tire is going on the rear this winter.
I just bought my first Harley! 2004 VRod 😊 the price was right but I do need to spend some money on reduced reach controls . Seems like altered state is the only company out there that sells such hardware.
I absolutely agree, Torque and Power: there's no other power cruiser that looks as good, has the performance and rideability of the VROD. Evvvvvverbody Always lovvvvvve to gawk at .y vivid black 2016 Night Rod Special, whoever I ride!!!
I had 5 harleys and a wack of sport bikes. All were modded pretty heavily but I never truly gelled with them. Bought a low mile 2009 vrod last year for $6000 and it’s the best all around bike that I’ve ever had. Can’t ride like a typical harley. Has a much higher power band. Once you ride like that, bike wakes right up
VROD birthed out of the VR1000, which was mostly a gem due to Erik Buell, was his idea to do a water cooled bike (on top of a ton of HD R&D), They sought out porsches assistance in sorting out cooling issues (as porsche was well known for moving from air cooled to water cooled and perfected the processes). Porsche took the modified vr1000/rev and then tweaked and perfected the cooling for HD. In many ways the VROD is more buell than porsche, but still a harley throughout with a lot of great minds thinking outside of the traditional harley mold and creating their best bike ever. I own a VROD and an XB12 and they are 2 of the best / most functional pieces of American artwork that almost anyone can still obtain/own.
Seems like now with the vrod discontinued, there is more repect from the geezer glide riders. And yeah most people that dis the vrod haven't jump on one and crack the throttle and rev the rpms up to 8 - 9 grand through the gears.
I bought my new harley vrod 2015 i feel its getting really hot just after 5 mins i called harley showroom and asked about it they told me it was in showroom for a long time thats y keep running the bike it vl b ok ??? Is that true??
IMO the VROD looks European, hence the hate on this bike. The first time I saw one I fell in love. With this bike wear a nice pair of pants, shirt and tie and watch the other Harley riders lose their mind, watch the ladies drop their panties. Nice video bro.
I was going to buy one not too long ago but I could not get over the looks and the design. In my opinion it is one of the worst looking Harley Davidson’s ever.
I bought a 09,ordered it,came in a box, basic black with roll bars and abs brake as extras...my black stallion..every summer since..120,000 km .adjust valves every 50,000 km...went through lots of tires...and many magic moments...best bike on road
This was a fantastic explanation of the bike and ownership! The night rod was my first dream bike. Hopefully will finally have one after I get a house.
This is arguably the most informative video on the V Rod that I’ve seen, after doing a lot of research I’m going to buy one, as soon as I found out about the V Rod I wanted one. Thanks for all the info
I loved the V-Rod I wanted to buy one and then it was discontinued. I then turned to the Breakout because it had the same style and then they reduced the fuel capacity... ugh. At any rate the V-Rod was the best thing Harley ever did and yes I was coming from a sport bike at that time and those bikes were visually stunning and performed well. Give me 5 gal or more!
I just picked up my 6th Vrod. These are my absolute favorite Harley. The classic Dyna Wide Glide, Night-Train, Road Glide, And the Sportster are other favorites. But when it’s Harley versus most other brands, Harley really shines with fit and finish.
@@battlefennec sold and or traded the first 4. An 04B, 07DX, 09DX, 12F, 13F and an 08D. I have the most recent 2. I traded the 12F for the 13F because my MOS in the army was 13F and I really like the Vrod Muscle. I recently got the 08D. It’s one of the rarest Vrods. 2008 was a really lean year for Harley because of the economy and production was way down. 08 was the last year of production for the original Nightrod. But it was the first official year of the wide frames with the 5 gallon tank and the 1250 motor became standard on the Vrod. However the 08 Nightrod kept the narrow 180 wheel which allows for better performance in the corners and is considerably lighter for the horsepower to weight ratio. That’s why Harley went to the 1250 when they went to the 240 wheel, to maintain the 125ish horsepower from the factory on the Vrod. The 08D was also the last model to come stock with the mid controls and forward highway pegs, but first to have the lightweight 5 blade/spoke wheels that they started putting on the Muscle when it released the following year. Overall the Muscle is my favorite but I do love the performance and rarity offered by the the 08D and I just happen to find one for a smoking deal with less than 5k miles on the clock. One other thing about the original Nightrods, other than the Screaming Eagle editions, it’s the only model to come with a black and chrome engine and even the SE models are gray and chrome. So in my opinion it has the best looking motor too.
I’m so happy to own one of my dreams Harley Davidson Bike ( Night Rod ) 🎉 this bike is so amazing &. Still don’t under stand why Harley stopped manufacturing the VROD !!
Have you tried to buy a tee shirt that actually fits? YEs i know you looked Jacked in your wife shirt but this is going around the world and its just kinda sad lol
I remember when I was test riding one. Just before I left there was a little bit of a crowd at the entrance of the dealership. I can remember this grizzled old guy saying right to my face that he wouldn't touch one of those bastard Porsche motor harleys.
Ever since i saw the documentary, i was hooked. When i finally able to get one in 2011. Pure love. I still have my baby, and i still love it. No other bike compares to it.
V-Rod does not get the credit deserves it has a revolutionary frame most don't speak on and also a revolutionary engine that was the best bike Harley-Davidson ever produced and they dropped the ball I don't get it .... But we have to remember Harley-Davidson is an apparel company that happened to sell motorcycles enough said.
Great video man . I'm on my second Night Rod 16 now and my next buy is the 17 Muscle . Can't wait to do my new NRS single seated drag kitted out , then turn around and build up a 17 muscle hard bagger ( one piece with the rear fender ) . Gonna have the best his and her bikes with my wife .
Great review. I've been thinking about buying one of the Night Rods...Beautiful bike. But I have a XDiavel now and have to say the style, function, beauty also puts it into the mix as a top do it all cruiser.
@@hypefxx9011 So far it's been bullet proof. But I change my own oil and the first big service isn't until about 18k miles so besides a set of tires it's a been everything you could want in a sports cruiser. But let's see how I feel after that service...
Here down under they are the preferred HD. These bikes are machines and they are in my top 5 list of best Harleys. I would love to another one when I find the right one for me
@@TorqueandPower I had a 2016 night rod, I regretfully sold it 4yrs ago. Either a muscle or another night rod i would love. They are so pricey here (40k aud) lol
I own a 2012 10yr Anniversary Edition V-Rod. Love the bike!!! Quick!!! Looking to purchase a Fat Boy now. Thought about trading in the V-Rod but I just cannot get myself to do it. Once it’s gone, it’s gone!
It actually came with it the holder when I bought it from Fuel Moto. I believe power vision/dyno jet makes it in either black or chrome. Couple well placed zip ties holds it on the bars cause the muscles handlebars are so thick. Hope that helps you!
Great video - I couldn’t agree more 😎 One question about the headlight: I have been looking for a LED headlamp fitting my V-Rod 2016 Muscle. Have you retrofitted a new LED headlight ? If yes - will you be kind enough to share the information? Thanks in advance from Denmark Niels
I watched the V-Rod documentary. I was taken with them when they first came out. You didn't do a video pan of your bike so I can't be sure but it seems that the 2017's radiator is not as aesthetically tucked in as the earlier models.
Hey thanks for the video your story is me to a tee I have a 2012 muscle plus I’m 6ft8 I flipped my foot peg brackets from one side to the other pushing pegs forward 3 to 4 inches
Had my black Night Rod Special for five years now. It does everything that I want from a motorcycle. Comfort , flexible power range , handling and great looks.
Help me understand a little more about these. Are thrse bikes carbureted or EFI? Have you had any issues with the fuel pump? With multiple throttle bodies do you have to still synchronize them like multi-carb or does the computer take care of that?
Fuel injected, no fuel pump issues at all and one dual 52mm throttle body that is connected to the throttle by cable. Very little work and maintenance it is a very reliable machine!
