I’ve got an old, chubby kitty that seems useless, but she still pulls in a few birds and rodents.

Aaawhhhh!!! Isn't it a marvel how they can seem so lazy, fuzzy, and totally zen at one moment, like a little senior... but when you are not watching, they dart and fly and jump, keeping those bones supple and those muscles lean. What's the name of your chubby buddy?

What does your cat do with the kill ? Is it hungry ? Or does it kill because it’s exercising, something to do?

@@greenserenity Her name is Wanda. She just wandered into my home one day and wouldn’t leave. A friend of mine suggested the name. We were sitting having beers and this cat wandered by and sat down and started cleaning herself. My friend said, “When did you get a cat?” I replied “I’ve never seen this cat before.”

They go from beng household pets to wild animals once they step outside your house. At that point they become like tigers in a jungle. But the jungle that your pet uses as a blind is suburban shrubbery as lethal as the Sundarbans.

I came here after watching a short video of the black footed cat, which has a 60%+ kill ratio. Still, that's nothing compared to the frogfish and dragonflies, the latter having a 95% to 97% kill ratio. I stopped walking near the river when I heard that about dragonflies, I really don't want to be eaten.

Disclaimer: I love cats. According to the current cat science, cats are indeed hunters. However, this means they want to do three things: 1. Claim prey (whether it’s a mouse or YOU with your “owner” delusion). 2. Kill their prey, usually by snapping their neck. And 3. Eat their prey. Pet cats are known for trying 1 (licking, head-bumping) and 2 (biting), but most pet cats in a sheltered domestic setting, couldn’t even finish 2, much less approach 3, when interacting with their owners or other people. From what science can determine, when cats rub against a person, fellow animal, or inanimate object, in their view, they own it. When a cat meets a rival or another but unfamiliar cat, caterwauling, or yowling, sometimes ensues, and oftentimes leads to physical altercations. When so engaged, they could appear oblivious to their surroundings. I submit that this is because they’re arguing over who owns all of it. A cat’s claims of ownership may extend to nearby people, places, potential mates, other objects, etc.

The Cat's success rate is WAYYY more than 32%.Have no idea where the narrator came up with that low percentage. It certainly DOESN'T apply to cats in general. It more like 75% minimum. My cat is at least that or higher. In other words, if she tries to kill something 10 times, she succeeds close to 8 times. she is a killing machine. LOL

Dozens of small birds have gone extinct from house cats hunting them
@greenserenity
@greenserenity 8 месяцев назад
A cat does what it’s nature tells it to do. Yes birds have gone extinct but humans have played a bigger role in that than cats. Taking away natural habitats, nesting grounds, and by machinery such as cars and planes. It’s not our furry friend who is to blame here…

Cats do not go on boats and invade islands, or do they...? ans even if they did, would be nature, a lot of predators surge and extinct preys that can't adapt, always happened and will always happen, but why blaming the house cats?
@pineapplepenumbra
@pineapplepenumbra 7 месяцев назад
Usually, when cats have done the most damage, it's because humans introduced them to an ecosystem. One cat wiped out an entire species on an island, and human stupidity was the reason the cat was there in the first place. We're wiping out dozens of species, if not more, every month. Some species will be wiped out before we even knew they existed. The speed at which we're wiping them out dwarfs the damage caused by the asteroid that caused the Chicxulub crater. Animals are doing better around Chernobyl than when humans were there en masse. We are worse than radiation and asteroid impact!
