24 Frames Of Nick In an interview someone brought up their cloghes switiching and it's confirmed they wanted Ryan to be gay but Disney was obviously like oh fuck no. So they added that part in as a fuck you to them! :0
I realize that this song was most likely written to be a spiritual sequel to "get ya head in the game" but the conflict in that song is Troy having a hard time choosing between basketball or singing (Gabriella). By mirroring that with these characters and baseball, the logical conclusions that they are flirting is completly fair. Also we know that wardrobe switch was not an accident. They Fucked.
Pauline Eichner the joke is how much he praises the movies I think. But of course they are gay, the creators confirmed it was their goal (but Disney was like "nope" so they had to be sneaky)
Disney: we don't want the gay scenes here, its not PG. Take it off. Director: haha. Try to stop me bich. Woops here's some sprinkle of gay, hers another- and I- oops they switched clothes.
Kenny Ortega (the director) wanted Ryan to be openly gay but disney was against it, but he still managed to make everyone ship these two! He's such an amazing director!
Adrienne Williams Yes. They were meant to be a couple I’m pretty sure but Disney said “what do we look like Cartoon Network? Fuck that!” Idk pretty sure you can look it up pretty easy. Also even if there is a heterosexual reason for it I doubt it was unintentional. How would you fuck up wardrobes that badly without anyone noticing?
Technically, the sexual tension lasted longer than just four minutes and twenty seconds because it takes place during *the whole game* . We just get an edited version of this game, which probably lasted 47 minutes, maybe even longer.
They spent hours together, if not the better part of a day. - as rivals, not friends (remember this, it's important). You'll notice that after the gameday, the pair are often seen standing next to each other or close by, and share silent reactions to other characters. They became comfortable enough to share food, clothing and a verbal-emotional shorthand. In 10 hours or fewer it's very hard to become close to an antagonist in your life, but something so strongly connects Chad & Ryan in that short time that animosity between them just..goes away. So in summation, the power of Friendship(TM) truly is awe-inspiring.
Ryan tells Chad to “Hit it out of the park” implying he WANTS Chad to get a home run or in other words run all the bases. What else do bases signify? Ah yes the progression of a sexual relationship. Need I say more?
March Stars I don’t know if this is serious or not but it’s hilarious and I know in my heart is also true. They switched clothes omg please let them be gay
Pretty sure when Chad means "there's only one little thing that stops me everytime" he was talking about his friends, they are framed everytime he said it.
Cyrus wasn't the first gay Disney Channel character, Chad and Ryan were CLEARLY gay. Edit: I think Chad is bisexual because he does really like Taylor, but he also seemed to really like Ryan too.
It was probably the director (Kenny Ortega) and the actor (Lucas Grabeel) trying to sneak in another small hint that they were gay. Both the actor and director wanted Ryan to be gay, but when they pitched the idea Disney shot it down because they didn’t think gay people were appropriate for a G rated movie.
@@adareif4450 It is sad that things were that way. But at least we have High School Musical The Series where there actually is a gay couple and the protagonist has two mothers.
This is old but legit the actor of Ryan wanted him to be gay, him and the guy who bakes were supposed to be a couple but they cut it out so in the bloopers they both kissed.
RU-vid: why did Chad and Ryan switch clothes in high school musical 2? Me, who has never seen any high school musical movie: they did WHAT?!? I demand to find out now
M. B I’ve heard and I’ve taken it into consideration but I’m too anxious to watch anything I’m not familiar with so I shall go back to watching Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban again and recite each word like the annoying bitch I am 😌
Disney: *makes chad and Ryan switch clothes after a whole song filled with sexual tension* Viewers: lol they gay! Disney: *insert surprised pikachu meme*
I love how over analyzed this is, but like it’s true- like Chad is like “i’m gonna show you how i swing” or somethin like....ya know buddy, that’s a little gay....and i’m here for it
I love how StRaIgHt peopleTM are pressed about the fact that we want to have us a gay and possibly bi character in an old movie like y'all legit have about 8 other cast member you can still keep let us live a little, what does chad being anything less then straight make him unlikable???
No titan. People just find there a diffrence between wanting representation and thinking everytime two characters have an intresting interaction they must be in love. Same for straight couples.
@UCa3WwjWtlPKD-3YCi_0dv7w see this reply might have some to weight to it if I also wasn't equally critical of baseless heterosexual ships and if people also didn't costantly ship characters of the same sex since fandoms existed, but that isn't the case. The reason why we can't just agree to disagree the same way people do when it's a man and woman; is because whenever it is a same sex ship people like you go YOU HATE RPERESATION, YOU JUST CAN'T LET PEOPLE LIKE WHAT THEY LIKE, REEEEEEE, and then you allegedly cackle. I am minding my own business. My business is laughing at emotionally fragile shippers who screech whenever someone says there ship doesn't make sense; instead of simply shrugging there shoulders and continuing to enjoy themselves.
@Gabriella Macieyowski oh boy, first off saying there are hundreds examples of something without listing one of them isn't the best look. Second there's a diffrence between wanting something to be cannon, even if you worked on it, and it actually being cannon. Case in point, the head writers behind phineas and ferb liking Beaufort and baljeet ship but not making it cannon. Third, what if you're just projecting. The beauty of these speculation discussions is that when guess and claim until were blue in the race, but not of that equals confirmation. If people want representation, then they should ask for well done representation.
@Gabriella Macieyowski I know this might be hard for you to understand, but you don't actually have to use a term in order to reference it. My phineas and ferb example was me referencing head cannon.
“There’s just one thing that stops me every time” *Cut to a group of his own peers* The only thing that’s stopping him is his fear of acceptance. He’s scared his peers won’t accept him.
me when I watched this scene: omg it's like when the gay dude is trying to tell the deeply closeted gay dude that he IS gay but he keeps on insisting he doesn't swing that way.. wait... swing WAIT-
Hey folks it is 2020 and the director confirmed Ryan is canonically gay!!!! It was obviously very clear in the movie but now it is. Very Official!!!!!!!!
You know I was like 5 when I watched the movie and I didn't know what "gay" meant, but I knew Ryan had it. I was so confused when Ryan brought a girl to prom when I was little, I didn't know why I was confused at the time, I just was. I know now and it's beautiful.
DS not that young tbh it came out in September 2007 that was like 12 years ago that means if you were five when it cam out then your 17 or turning 17 now.
This actually has valid points, though. This is beyond satire, and I'm not exaggerating. This is a fantastic video essay. I'm legitimately convinced they're gay for each other now.
So true, he clearly had a thing for Troy in the third movie. He mentioned to Troy to stop worrying about Gabriela going to Standford as Taylor was going to Yale and to focus on them going to college together. He said it in a way that he didn't mind that Taylor would be leaving him after graduation.
@@homiebob6160 Disney realized he had created two gay icons and tried to get them both out of the way by pairing them. My 10 year old self never accepted it as canon
"But Ryan took a girl to the prom!" So did I and I'm super gay. I was going to high school around the time HSM came out, you couldn't take a same-sex partner to prom whether or not you were out.
Yeah, and like another commenter mentioned, Kelsey might have been a lesbian. I remember her wearing some tomboyish clothes throughout the series. Might have been a genius move in a time when things like same sex relationships would have been very controversial for a kids movie.
You could take this a step further and find evidence that Chad may have had a thing for Troy in the first movie too. Which is why his aversion to Troy joining the musical had nothing to do with the singing, but rather it was Gabriella taking Troy away from him.
