I've been watching you for quite some time and you have never steered me wrong. I always learn something new when I watch your videos. Plus the fact that you're so open about your faith makes me comfortable watching you.
I don't have a niche. I just have 3 different topics I rotate. If a topic doesn't get much views I'd fade it out. I also see if that video got more subscribers I do more videos on that topic. But I only started a year ago and under 400 subs. I do this so I don't burn out.
Yes, I can relate. I also have 3 pillars of content topics. It definitely keeps me from getting burned out. I'm glad I didn't limit myself although I know it's taking a risk. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this 💯🙏🏽
@@Stevonjbiz np! A lot of people told me the same. I rather grow slowly and enjoy what I'm doing then gain a lot of subscribers and feel like making new content on the same subject is a chore. I want to say "I can't wait to do a video on this topic" then "I need to think of something interesting this week".
@@JustMikeTV I just realized I've actually watched some of your videos 😁. I went on & made it Official, glad to be subbed to your channel. Stay with it, we got this 💯.
Honestly, I just wish RU-vid's algorithm learns how to crawl through a creator's public playlists so that they we don't need to create separate channels for every niche. 😂 But from what I observed lately from the algorithm, as long as what you're uploading is specific to an audience, it will reach that audience regardless of how many subs you have. ✨️
I’ve struggled a bit with this. I built my channel on metal guitar. But a few years ago I started presenting tips for playing live solo acoustic shows. It’s still guitar based but two different spectrums. I’ve considered starting a separate channel and brand for that.
New subscriber here (just a couple of weeks) and I've learned a lot already from your videos! Thank you so much! I have 4 subscribers and I'm hoping to gain more in the coming weeks. 🙏
I have 97we will reach million subs one day bro. We just have to keep going. And what do you guys think about having a main niche and a side niche. Like cooking and gaming in my channel.
@Sugoicooks Many have side niches, either within one channel or one on each channel. Depends on your personal energy level and your ability to navigate the extra work.
CHANGING MY NICHE WAS THE BEST THING I EVER DID FOR MY CHANNEL!!!... MY CHANNEL WAS STUCK AT 1000 SUB AND 300 VIEWS AT MOST... I CHANGED FROM PERSONAL VLOG TO A BLOGGER JUST FEW WEEK AGO AND GOT OVER 3000 PLUS SUBS AND ALL MY VIEWS ARE OVER A 1000, WIITH ONE OF MY VIDEO GETTING OVER 60K VIEWS.. I CHANGED MY CHANNEL NAME AND EVERYTHING BEST DECISION EVER!!!
I like your channel because you have tips that relate to ALL YT channels. I have an Art and Craft channel but you have tips that can apply to anyone. I like to keep up with what people on YT find cool or interesting. (It all applies to art in someway). I also pretty much only do Lives. Tfs!
To all of my 70 subscribers. THANKS a Lot!! I appreciate you and I'm gonna keep improving for y'all and me 🥰🙌 Today feels tough, but I’m leaving this comment as a future reminder that I stayed strong.
I follow think media because I gain a ton of value from the ideas and creative thinking I gain from watching it. Plus after I joined the subscription service for a while and watched your more personal story I relate to Sean a lot
My channel started off with cooking videos. I stoped doing youtube for 3 years. When I came back I went to cooking videos. But soon after starting doing cooking video reaction videos. And now I'm also doing talking head videos on culinary topics.
@@aaquilali yeah I still do some cooking videos but it's a lot a work and destroys the kitchen to just cook 1 dish. So now I make it more like an event.
@@chefjamesmacinnis lol yes, destroys the kitchen to cook 1 dish that takes at least an hour to make.. but I’ll probably finish eating it in less than 10mins 😂 Good luck to you and your channel, keep going!
Hi. I did this. I use to talk about personal development. I had 1,5k subs. One day I literally deleted all my videos and posted about football. I lost subs but new ones came. Four videos later, I’m at nearly 8k subs and 300k views
@@Sugoicooks I think if they complement each other is ok. If they are too different, I would not recommend. I tried it and I failed it before, but having said that, it could has been me the problem.
I am starting to go from a movie/series review channel to just strictly superhero movies/series. Still in the review niche, but more specific. I love superheroes so I am so excited to get started on this journey. Think Media has been so helpful for me
Perfect video at the perfect time I am about to shift my niche and was wondering this exact question. Mine is probably more of an expansion because I'm not abandoning my current market but expanding what it encompasses
A CHALLANGE! Great theory, but I challenge you to take it a step further! Instead of just sharing ideas, pick one of your viewers' small channels and apply your advice in real-time. That way, you can prove your tips are accurate and really work. Plus, it would make the content even more engaging and relatable!
If you un-list all you videos from a monetized channel, and pivot to a new niche ... what are the advantages and disadvantages vs just starting a new channel?
I guess it depends on how many subs you have and whether they are interested in whatever you upload. If they are interested in you as a person continue in your transition, if not you might wanna start a fresh. What I’m not sure about is the algorithm part and whether it effects your views if you change niche, like TikTok
I'm not sure if I'm right in my way of thinking, but it seems to me that there is also something else to consider that wasn't mentioned: when changing niche (doesn't matter if abruptly or gradually), uncheck the 'Show to my subscribers' checkbox when uploading a new video. My reasoning: if your new video is shown to your subscribers, and they don't like it (don't click on it or leave it too soon) because it isn't related for what they subscribed, the algorithm will 'think' that your video is so bad and dumb that even your subscribers doesn't like it, so the algorithm will stop showing your new video to any potentially new subscribers. On the contrary, if you upload a new, different video and you uncheck the 'Show to my subscribers' checkbox (BEWARE: while uploading; you can't do that once a video is uploaded), the algorithm won't show it to your existant subscribers and will try to find new viewers for this video. If the video is good, it will find it's way to new viewers and potential subscribers, and won't be buried because even your actual subscribers didn't like it.
Guys I’m so discouraged today. Some days I’m not so serious & it’s fun & I might even get a spike in views but today I feel like I’m just talking to myself. It’s hard to be consistent when I don’t know what works & my audience doesn’t engage. They literally engage on every other platform & I’ve asked what they want to see but the results are the same. It’s okay though, may be time to pivot 🤷🏽♀️
I really enjoy the niche conversation. My channel is about web development, but I think my niche is ME. There are lot's of web development channels out there, but there's only one me. So while I want to create great educational content around frontend development and building user interfaces, I also want to share parts of my life and try vlogging. I watch Think Media because I enjoy conversations about strategy and having a thoughtful approach.
Do you have a permit for those guns? For a minute I thought I was watching Sam Sulek! By the way, Niche Finder is an amazing course and I highly recommend it to every creator.

I needed this video. I started my channel with book read Alouds only for kids. I want to keep doing the read Alouds but I also wanted to add mom-related videos to build a personal brand, like cooking meals, organization, personal growth for moms, mom fitness, and product recommendations. I plan on just posting them on a schedule and see what kind of reaction I get from my 195 subscribers. Would you suggest 2 different channels: 1 for kids and 1 for moms or just have 1 channel geared towards family related videos?
So what is the failing RU-vid channel? What’s the numbers to consider? I’m almost 3 weeks in the game and not sure if my numbers are considered “ failing”
This pop up just at the right time as i was considering my channel direction. I have 585 subscribers over a span of 4 years. I am finding a niche which does not require me to post weekly and therefore burn me out.
So...I'm not sure how to further refine my niche. I teach Leadership and Personal Development. I'm not sure what area to further refine to since those topics are broad.
Hi am Raza and I am professional graphic designer so I can better design your thumbnail because I am professional so do you want to design thumbnail in cheap price with better quality and resolution
I changed my niche radically a couple weeks ago. I went from automotive how too, to personal development content. It did take the algorithm a little bit to change to new viewers but so far it’s worked out really good. I’ve been blowing through my goals and gaining more subs and views than ever before. It worked great for me.
Too bad yt gutted algo after grant Thompson death. Diy channels becoming filled with ccp topic flooding instead of the content I've wanted to find in the past 5 years.
Thanks for your advice. As a small channel I have 189 subs at the moment and my niche is cooking . I do only short videos and just want to check is it OK to add lifestyle blogs as well .
So in this same vein, is it better to create another youtube channel on the same google account? Or to create a whole different google account for another new youtube channel. (This isnt for this channel, but for another one I used to do gaming content on. It had 37 subs but I want to switch it to more sports commentary)
This is a good point. Over the years, I started with North Dakota videos. I finally broke 4 digits in views and subscribers when I started talking about fountain pens. In the years since, I've done North Dakota, fountain pens, book reviews, and the occasional typewriter video or deep dive research videos with North Dakota scenery. I've come to see my channel as about writing and ideas for people who aren't publishing. I've just focused on a few tools, but I think I can broaden it out and keep my location in mind. Some of my most successful videos haven't been about specific pens or tools: they have been about how to write and how to organize information and record ideas. Last spring I paid off my house. Do I suddenly have free cash to buy pens and typewriters and other things? Yes! And suddenly I don't want to. So my interest has transitioned, and my channel needs to as well.
I completely change topic around Christmas for 2 months then go back to normal never hurts my channel. RU-vid says many times the purpose of the algorithm is to find viewers so. Some info is getting outdated. And if subs are really just a number now, it doesn’t matter
Started with gaming. Trying to think of my trees under that branch. Not necessarily a how to person but I wanted to show that you can work, parent, go to college and game -
This is what I really needed at this moment... because I'm thinking of changing my niche as now I think I don't fit into the niche I was creating videos on...but really unsure if I should do that niche shift on the same channel as people subscribed for something else( currently at 406 subs)
