Chelsea may have spent 100 million pounds on Lukaku, but did anyone tell them they could get in depth football coverage from the Athletic for as little as 1 pound a week.
Honestly ngl, I was a bit concerned that adding another voice to the panel wouldn't have quite worked but JJ is absolutely fantastic - he fits the Tifo mold while also being a different sort of commentator and analyst. Bounces off really well with the others.
This is the first time I’ve heard his voice. Before today I’d only ever read his columns, and man, he’s even more brilliant in real life. Or should I say (Tifo) IRL.
Forget for his size, he's quick period. I remember hearing a rumour that he was the fastest player at United. He's slimed down since then, so I'm excited.
His dribbling as well is almost like a quick and agile winger only difference being he’s built like a tank. He’s improved a lot since he was in man united.
While Tuchel may line up this way from time to time, I think you'll often see Werner running off Lukaku on the left side. Werner doesn't have the touch to play in tight spaces, but from the wing I think he'll have a massive season.
tbf I don't think it was just that, i think his confidence was massively hit under Lampard. But now playing under Tuchel alongside Lukaku who better fits his style and having the confidence of winning a champs and a super league. he'll be a lot better.
As a Milan fan, I'm happy to see him leave inter. As a fan of Italian football, my heart aches. There's a large chunk of Inter that's taken away ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
Please Mr editor. Can we have the intro and outro the same volume as the actual video? Almost shat myself when Joe came back about the athletic subscription at double volume
With the amount of “-ey”s JJ adds to the most random words, I’m beginning to think Solskjaer might’ve been up to no good in Scotland back in the day... 👀
thats the mistake these clubs have made in the past. Lukaku is NOT A LONG BALL HOLD UP PLAYER!!. He's always worked best running from the left wing on the counter
*From the right wing on the counter. Martinez played him regulary on this position at Everton and in the Belgian national team (ie Belgium-Brazil WC 2018 when he murdered Marcelo and EC 2020 when De Bruyne was fit and played as f9).
@@smokeloc73 Given what a literal package he is, it suits him well to be the total package now. If you pack him even more he would become a 6 ft 3 version of Adama Traoré.
Chelsea should be winning the Premier League now, literally missing piece of the puzzle. Lukaku signing for Chelsea makes a bigger impact on the team then Grealish for Man City
There's no should. Its based on 38 games against 19 teams. The one team who is the most consistent through out, wins. Utd ended up 2nd last year. Why can't they win it? Liverpool already have an experienced prem winners. Why can't they challenge again? City have the same winning squad bar Aguero, who wasn't used last year much anyway
It's probably going to be Werner and Lukaku upfront. Werner was good when he's linking up with Poulsen back then. I think Tuchel understand that Werner needs a strong big man to accompany him😏😏😏 Lukaku is also very good with Lautaro in Inter, so the strategy is viable.
I swear werner is underrated... I mean I know he misses goals but he is definitely a threat when we counter attack.. He has this ability to drag defenders to his side.. Also he gets to places where he assists a lot as well.. I'd still use werner just for his pace
@@paolomaldinification Werner was pivotal for Havertz's goal in the CL final, dragging almost the complete defense out of position freeing up a huge chunk of space right in front of the penalty area.
Chelsea dropped 9-12 points last season because they didn't have a clinical finisher. If Lukaku stays fit then Chelsea have the quality to challenge, Havertz and hopefully Werner will be more settled too.
Imagine if the board had backed Conte back in the day and bought Lukaku back. He improved immensely under Conte at Inter. I think we would have won the league again if we got him or at least finished closer to first that season.
Tifo, you need to get your volumes right. The intro and outro are way louder than JJ Bull, so i either cant hear what he say, or get ringing in my ear when he is done speaking and outro comes in.
JJ Bull : “it makes absolute perfect sense and it will make Chelsea a much much better team this season” Outro : “FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, YOU CAN GET 50% OFF..”
One of the best analyses I've seen on Lukaku. People look at him and just assume he's the next Drogba, but he's more of an off-the-shoulder striker that wants to get on the end of things.
@@clip3009 when people like u say this it just shows how scared u r if he actually scores the amount he's most likely to score which is 20 goals or above
I have an opinion that may not be popular, and is based more on 'the eye test'. Chelsea DO NOT create enough high-quality chances. This is the major reason why we don't score enough goals. IMO, this lack of HQ chances is because 1. We have a lot of sterile possession 2. Our wingbacks lack the ability to beat their opponents and don't pick out the strikers enough times and 3. Our midfielders don't have the eye for incisive passes, whether it be the assist or the asissts' assist.
Lukaku is actually really good at defending the ball with his back to goal. He might not like it but in the last 2 seasons at inter half the times the play was long ball to lukaku who had to protect it and redistribute it to other attacking players.
Sprint speed isn't a good indicator for who's "quick" tho. Central defenders have some of the highest sprint speeds a lot of the time but they need a lot of time to build up the momentum. If we go by sprint speed dribblers like Hazard, Neymar, Messi would be made to look slower that than actually "feel" inside a game because of their insane accelaration and changes of directions. If Lukaku is in a race with a defender for a ball he'll win, but saying he's like Werner is crazy to me. He doesn't have the same burst. And if anything I think the two will play together he most out of all of Chelsea's attackers. I don't think Lukaku is being brought on to replace Werner, he's going to make him better.
Yeah I think Werner will get many minutes, it'll probably be between Havertz and Mount to complete the front 3, but of course if Werner's form doesn't pick up, he'll be outta the team because there's just more competition now. I'm worried for Pulisic, he doesn't look like he'll get minutes, he really hasn't been great under Tuchel, very inconsistent.
@@owethunala2632 I realise how good Lukaku is. I don't think anything I've said denies that. Lukaku is a better striker, but Werner's burst of speed is pretty unique and he presses better. So I think the two will be playing together not competing for the same spot
Insane how many people slag off Timo after ONE poor season where he was played out of position. The kid was en fuego for 3/4 yrs in Germany as a 9 with a strike partner. He’ll be back. You don’t just lose all your skill overnight. Yes he missed a lot of chances, but his importance to the way Chelsea play cannot be understated. He constantly assists, wins penalties, stretches D’s, and starts the press up top. Everyone needs to chill back on the Timo bashing. Firmino was quiet as a church mouse last year (goal wise) but no one hates on him. Why? BC Firmino is so important to the way Liverpool play in a similar fashion to Timo. A new team in a new league during a season no player has ever experienced (playing every 3 days in empty stadiums during a pl@ndemi¢) is difficult for even the most seasoned Prem player. Timo playing with Rom is going to find his form again. Watch.
Because only Havertz is good in doing hold-up play and linking-up, in their front line. Abraham isn't good in those aspects, so Tuchel needs one of the best CFs in Euro
@@TattyBojangles81 there's this amazing feature on RU-vid that not a lot of people know about. It's called the pause button and I personally think it's here to stay.
pulisic, ziyech, kai lacks fitness, also there are at least 70 games to play. Rotation is more necessary. werner , mount , lukaku will play most minutes. werner and mount played most minutes last season due to the same reason . Chelsea have replaced lukaku for giroud and tammy (potentially) as target men , who can hold the ball high and play with their back to the goal. tammy lacked proper hold up or headed finishing ,in contrast, giroud lacked pace for pressing and fitness. werner gives another kind of dimension to the attack,( its pace vs space creation). he had 30+ goal contribution last season in all comp. doesnt matter what the espn fc or rival banters , he will play and its high chance lukaku will take all the attention away , he might start banging goals as his confidence comes back.
Love these videos - but (Bernie meme) I am once again asking the editors to level out the volume of the ads and the content. The intro is twice as loud as the actual video and fried my eardrums.
@@smitterlag7551 you don't have to be a target man to be a good header of the ball, i think what jj means by target man is someone who receives the ball long from the defense/gk, and is able to bring it down and lay it off
@@JamesHussain82 with the insanely high line tuchel plays, he can't afford for anyone to be lazy in the press, because they are vulnerable to the counter attack , which is why mount werner havertz was the common front 3
Could I get some opinions on this. I’m Australian and the first football fan in my family. When I was getting into football we had a foreign exchange student from Munich who got me into supporting Bayern. This was at a young age and I’ve only started watching the games over the last few years. It comes today when I’ve became more passionate about Australian football that I’ve learned about the likes of Harry Kewell and Viduka and how good they were at Leeds and it has made me fallen in love with the club. Is it plastic to switch?
Lukaku is so much better with his back to goal now, he's become a top target man under Conte. Also target men don't develop until towards their late 20s. Drogba was a "get in behind" striker until he went to Chelsea and then Mourinho worked to change his game.
Chelsea are in a lot of competition, so they'll rotate, playing a whole season, fa cup, champions league, league cup, even depending on opponents, did you see the super cup lol
out of those 32 chances Timo missed 18! its really frustrating to see because we all know what he is capable of. He just need it to click and he will be and outstadning player for chelsea. with Lukaku comming in i think that will take some of the pressure off from Timos shoulders and he might start to deliver goals. he is a great player for Chelsea on the field, he just needs the ball to hit the back of the net!
Chelsea can be more leathal with a 4..3...3 with werner on left wing so that they can interchange as a 4...3...1...2 also at times to make combinations and utilise the defender dragging runs of werner also this would allow lukaku to be even more effective....or they can even play a double pivot of 4....2....1...3. They have a lot of absolute talents such as likes of ziyech....havertz....pulisic.....hudson odoi who can be utilised effectively with lukaku in these formations.
Kinda sad about this transfer actually,he found a club where he had his best season and most success and now goes back to a club that sold him in the past
the one i miss how mount is fit in there. very tricky at best he would play as a 8 but there is no position as an 8 he can of course play the position wide but there it seems to defensive a front 3 like werner/lukaku/pulisic looks on the same page forward werner or Kay /lukaku with kay or ziech behind all on there positions at best he learns to play the pivot :)
@@lacey7025 Havertz as a “9.5” as Tuchel calls it makes the most sense. A number 10 that drifts between CAM and CF to provide and score with a target man and supporting striker would be nice. Ziyech deserves to play too, but this formation makes the most sense. Sadly excludes Mount, ziyech, Pulisic, and many others. This can replicate Lukaku with Martinez and Werner with Poulsen
I trust the Chelsea medical staff to keep him lean and mean(Lukaku has already said he's hungry), sooo ,size ,strength, speed, good in the air and can dribble, most importantly he can SCORE GOALS. Welcome Big Rom,can't wait to see ya in action.
short answer: money go brrr long answer: we spent 50 on timo and it was a bust but maybe we can recoup it by bringing in a guy to get on the end of all those crosses he produces.
@@abhishekpattanayak1443 i lay out in the comment how he can become not-a-bust. he was absolutely a bust as the guy to lead the line for the squad. their continued use of him elsewhere doesnt change that fact. xhaka was a bust for arsenal as a dm but we invested a lot into him and got use out of him elsewhere. its simple from a coaching perspective. thomas tuchel recognizes that failure in one area isnt failure in total.
How football has changed, when Collymore went to Liverpool, he asked them where they say him playing and they said up front. They didn't have a clue, he said.
His speed of explosion is slow, for premier league, once he gets going he is fast, short distance like 2 yds he is not ! Chelsea will only be able to counter attack against LFC and City and maybe Utd This means they need a expert tight spaces striker with incredible ball control for all the other games
Three Central defenders are not ideal as well , we need to move to a back 4 , in order to unleash attacking players , Chelsea need to impose themselves on teams , I think Werner and Big Rom must be our first choice pair , with Mount,Harvetz and Ziyech playing behind them and Kante on 6
Ur forgetting that in a 3 back you end up having more attacker because the wingbacks help also just having more attacker stuffed upfront while it will be fun won’t really work
how do Timo Kai CHO ziyech and pulisic rotate for mins if Lukaku and Mount are practically starting every game (imo), I doubt we can pull off pep roulette
Mount will fight for his place trust me hard work only won't be enough as in ziyech and haverts talent only won't be enough I have seen how hard ziyech is working and mount need to do more
@@shalin2898 I meant like at Leipzig, he was so good bc he had a target man like poulsen to bounce off of. Now at my club, Chelsea, he has a target man to bounce off of, Lukaku, and he’s going to do great
How do you know if they'll create just as many chances with Lukaku playing? There's a difference between when a specific team creates a lot of chances and a team that plays with a striker.
They don't know. They've got no specialist knowledge of football at all. Don't know why I bother subscribing as their opinion is worth more than the average fan but still worth nothing compared to the professionals.
Why Chelsea sold him in the 1st place when he was on form during his loan spell at Everton? Then, they tried to bring him back in 2017 but failed. Now they managed to secured him for a 2nd time.
Just wanna your opinion about selling abraham, and how much he could link up with lukako if he stayed I think it was the wrong desicion but i don't have the stats you have
