Just this point about size and battle. I know its 2022, but the only example about size and battle I can think of is the successful Spartan 300 fighting the Persian giant, at Thermopylae. They were in fact only destroyed through betrayal. They defended a small area. There is no secret way into Taiwan, it is an island and would be protected or guarded on all sides of that island. When people mention 2 to 3 million Chinese military, against a much smaller number of Taiwanese military, they are relying on numbers to make a point. But size of battlefield has to come into it sooner or later if China were to invade, and that would not be easy and they would pay a heavy cost, in troops. How would you land 2 million troops on Taiwan? Well you wouldn't. So what to do first, well perhaps blow the living hell out of all of Taiwan, slaughter their so called fellow Chinese. Destroy everything , and then land troops to clean up what was left. What would be left, is probably a small number of defiant guerrilla fighters who would never give in until they were all dead. A war of attrition all over again. And rebuilding infrastructure with perhaps a very unfriendly Taiwanese population of civilians. Besides having mutilated Taiwan, the Chinese would have created a mass of enemies from all over the world,. Many who trade with Taiwan, many who have a great deal of animosity towards China, not just the Western democratic Anglo Celtic-European nations, but most of SE Asian nations, and others, let alone what the USA would be doing or thinking. And all this because you cannot invade a militarised well trained but small nation and think its a walk over,? You will pay heavily, simple as that, a great deal, and you may just not walk into Taiwan, perhaps the modernity of well supplied Taiwan would make Chinese ambitions just not worth it. And that is with China .....ACTUALLY WINNING IN THE END, ONE ON ONE! But you see it won't or maybe won't be one on one . The other opponent China has to face is the AFTERMATH! It has some financial problems and it is also having more with its fast rail network costing it huge loss s' and that network is brilliant , China does great things why go to war, RE - ALINE with Taiwan not make war. The fast rail is brilliant they need to make some changes to make it affordable to all. Put some other older style rail in and make the fast rail a super highway, but not as big. I saw that story on a doco from China, and how true it all is, I am not sure. That takes nothing away from the point that invading Taiwan seems to me to be the most stupid ridiculous thing China could do? It will cost them an arm and a leg, by the way, we all, SE Asia, Australia, America, Europe, Middle East and Far East, Africa, the massive nation of Russia, even India we all need China. All that has to happen is for China to look to commerce, which they are brilliant at, its what the west and the British Empire, became great at doing. The Industrial Revolution! China is in the wrong, it simple , this video is correct I am no military expert but I have always thought that Taiwan would be a hard and vicious nightmare for China , not because it has no large size but actually because it is small , it is more easily defended than invaded, it is armed to the teeth and I would guess it is much much much more prepared than Ukraine was ready for Russia. I expect Taiwan pilots would be as heavily trained up as the USAF and other air power branches of the US which I believe are all trained to the near closeness of actual combat, So if China invades besides US activity , they would have 70 years of Taiwan loading up for defence. To me lots of people I think, who comment on different forums seem to think that China is so large and almost advertises its new power, where as in reality it is not what you fight with all the time but why you are fighting. Taiwan is a free nation, and it has the rights of any nation and it knows it. For me I would recognise their sovereignty and so should China!!! If it had not developed through the CCP obsession with Taiwan all could be happy, then all we have to do is help Russia remove its dictator, and become what it always was, a European, and an Asian nation, in peace and be great. It is a modern era, but we could destroy our planet with a huge no.3 world war.

In an event of Chinese invasion to Taiwan, which is unlikely (at least not a direct confrontation) at the moment despite all the hype; It’s highly unlikely that ‘allies’ will intervene directly in a meaningful manner that would be helpful for Taiwan at the time when they will need it most. Rather the more important questions are why China is unlikely to engage in direct confrontation despite their mammoth military capabilities compared to Taiwan and why Taiwan would be left alone despite all the assurances and its strategic importance for the USA?

It's not that easy for China to set up charging ports in Taiwan for its latest electric tanks.

The mainland China and Taiwan island share the same language, same culture and same root. The people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are Chinese. In the end of Chinese last imperial dynasty (Qing dynasty 1636~1912) and during World War II, multiple developed countries invaded China and obtained gold and many other resources. Japan occupied Taiwan and a significant part of the mainland. So, the fact that Taiwan is still not being attacked by China bears evidence to the fact that the majority of the Chinese people simply just don't care that much. Mao decided not to attack back in those days of Chiang Kai Sek. That was pure pragmatism. China did not feel it will get enough back in consideration of the huge amount of resources she'd have to spend to wage war against such a tiny piece of land with scant resources of it's own and protected by Western Allies. So, China never feel that it's worth it to wage war against Taiwan.

Let's examine these guys who seem to live in an alternate universe: I think all these Indian analysts like to focus on projecting what they wish for, rather than what factual reality actually on the ground that actually is.. (1) Taiwan won't be invaded because they have very powerful allies like USA & Japan. America couldn't't handle the Taliban and didn't want to fight Russia both of which would have been much easier to do than to take on China ----(like 3 - 5 times easier). Japan can't fight China and the reality is North Korea, a strong ally of China would at some point would also get involved if the conflict grew regional and widespread which means that Japan would be busier focussing on it's own survival. (2) A 128 kilometres, so very far away. A 128 kilometres is nothing in terms of distance during warfare. The PLA already showed you how quickly they encircled the whole of Taiwan. (3) Taiwan has advanced air defence systems, aircrafts etc etc Less than 1/10 of what the PLA has. Even more important, as a pentagon guy pointed out, who actually ran several war game scenarios; China will have lined up it's coastline with a large number of missiles to fire at both Taiwan and anyone else that came to intervene. Ofcourse the Taiwanese have some too but again theirs are a fraction of what the Chinese have. (4) invading force would be vulnerable to attacks Before invading they would bomb and take out all key infrastructure. The PLA would use overwhelming force. They would cripple Taiwan before putting boots on the ground. The biggest reason why China will hold off invading Taiwan is not all this imaginary nonsense, but the fact that they know that economically they would tank, if they lost all their export markets, (although their customers in the west would also suffer tremendously) ----------so unless provoked too far, they'll play the long game and squeeze Taiwan economically till the population gets exasperated and reconciles itself to re-unification from within. Sun Zhu etc!

It's been decades now,they could have done it a long time ago. The truth is ,it's impossible for China to invade Taiwan that easily,for it is strategically surrounded by water,that's the big factor, China's navy will be a turkey shoot,before its troops can land on shore + the presence of US fleet + Japanese Navy presence on the Island chain,it will be a suicide. The drill is an actual preparation... however it is just a bluff. I vehemently oppose any action by China vs Taiwan, that being said , to say that won't or can't invade is a little optimistic: They have a 2 million strong military and Taiwan is very close to China, well within air missle range. They have been planning this for a long time , and for them , there is no better time than the present . PRC are so good in digging tunnels for their high speed rails, they can dig undersea tunnels right into Taiwan and troops and armour pouring out from their openings in the night. It would be the best trojan horse in surprising the ROC troops expecting a WWII era D-day Normandy style of beach-head. When the invasion is successful and Taiwan under the control of PRC, they can then lay tracks for their high speed rails to link up with the mainland. Nothing goes to waste. Taiwan will be reunified with the Mainland. Traffic of goods and people can freely move across both sides.
