Class toppers do succeed all the time!!! They don’t get the attention they need because it is almost expected of them to succeed. The story of backbenchers succeeding on the other end is portrayed a lot since it is totally unexpected. People love the story of struggle but often times neglect the obvious brilliance around them.

On the other hand, the typical backbencher is also in most scenarios looked down upon, seen as hopeless and good for nothing, seen as someone who won’t have a very good future, etc. It is that academic underdog’s success outside of academics and in real life that makes it a thing to watch I guess.

And if toppers had fear of failure, they won't go for exams like upsc, CA but they do, and i feel fear of failure is not bad and even necessary, it helps you to work harder to succeed, it's just one should not let that fear stop him from taking the right step.

Absolutely now days there are so many so called videos emphasizing that toppers didn't succeed but those who didn't study now earn more than toppers . These all things without fact are demotivating who want to do hardwork. And sometimes make you in self -doubt. Truth is hardwork is the only key required in every field even today .

I think the title may be misleading OR it's too narrow to think that only entrepreneurs are the definition of success and others aren't. People who are good at academics may become IAS officers, Doctors, Professors or find their calling in other professions. Aren't these folks successful? And who are we to define the parameters of success for others. Success or failure is a highly individual aspect and generalized comments like these should be avoided

No, she is not wrong. Even the ones who go on to become docs or engineers etc, have this issue. Most toppers, who aren't really brainy and only crammer, face lot of rejection n issues during post grads and later in job market. They usually lack creativity that's important in job market. Many have degrees but EQ and creativity is missing. Maintaining consistency despite failures only comes when u have faced these beasts early in life. Even a few back to back failures at the age of 25 + can seriously demotivate a regular topper coz he isn't used to it! He has to maintain the image which is now beginning to shatter. Moreover, the toppers usually aren't jugadu also, that's also needed in life. Mostly, they never give time to pursue a good healthy/hobby, which is essential in navigating bad times. They are busy with books to get into good colleges, and then some job, where many times they are not able to cope the competition present there. In total, many people will relate to it, and hopefully learn something. I'm a doc, and I have many friends into engineering too, mostly my friends were not toppers, but good in class and are definitely faring better than toppers. Even my college topper is not quite happy or satisfied work wise. So, she hit the Bulls eye. P.s. nothing is 100% correct, but is important if it hits the major mark.

@@mge12statemeny that toppers dont face losses in life before 20 is also generalized statement. I am also a topper and have faced many losses , i have gone up and down in my marks . I have come out of most distracting thing for teenager. I also pursue hobby of chess , robotics ( i make robotic models) . And that jugaadu thing is not true , everyone does jugaad (even me).

Class topper don't succeed Le : APJ Abdul Kalam,Bill gates , Elon musk etc who are good in studies 🙂 I am not topper but I feel that at the end of the day knowledge and hardwork which matters ✨. Exam ke pehle din padhai karke tum pass or cool jarur ban sakte ho lakin skilled nahi ho sakte 🙂✨

In general when you say topper it means - Rote learner Risk averse No creativity Cannot think impromptu Cannot see big picture Cannot connect dots Only academic, no hands-on Etc Hence they fail in business. Funny but Vinita is also a topper.

Why such people have a generalised concept of success defined by money and fame? The exam question paper is same for all but life's question paper is not so everyone has to solve it accordingly. How can someone say that an average student who becomes an actor, businessperson or youtuber is more successful than an academically excellent student who becomes a scientist, doctor, bureaucrat, lawyer, engineer or CA. Or they are consoling themselves for not scoring well before. Knowledge gives you power but one should make sure to have knowledge and not just information.

don't discourage class toppers, Narayana Murthy ,sudha Murthy, apj Abdul Kalam, super 30 Anand Kumar sir ,super 30 Anand Kumar sir students. If you don't want to excel in studies and want to go for acting dancing body building content creation, entrepreneurship, singing, if you don't need to study .. ok. You follow your passion. But don't discourage like this why do class toppers don't succeed. Poor students who don't have money, for them studying is only opportunity to go up in life. If your parents had money assets rich,middle class,higher middle class. Then studying not studying don't bother you. But poor students must study .so they study hard as a byproduct they get class first. Why discouraging class toppers. In one movie first rank Raju they discouraged class toppers. If you want to become Virat Kohli or shah rukh Khan . You go your way but don't discourage poor people who are dedicated to studies. They parents who don't have money to pay school fees. They do part time jobs and study don't discourage them please. Once upon a time I used to work hard in studies.i never become class topper. But seeing in my hard work in college people used to comment me citicise me I won't succeed i won't get campus placement. Please beer biceps i follow you I ate 9 eggs because you said. They're not discouraging the topper they are just trying to split the fact that to become a successful person failure is important because without failure you cannot become the person that you desired. And mostly failure is a part of your life journey and you have to embrace changes in your life because situations will be not same every time. And I agree, that there are very intelligent people in India but without the hardwork and failure they had gone through that failures and experiences make them a better person or a legendary person!!! right?❤

I can completely relate to her. My parents are always very competitive when it comes to studying. I was a topper in school. I was working hard and it was rewarding for me. When I get the hit of failure in my life in my undergrads it is still like a trauma to me. Now I get so discouraged that I believe 90% of the time I'll not be able to succeed in whatever I'm doing or want.

Among everything else said a very important message for women who are mothers of young kids, doing job especially living overseas without any sort of help from parents, look after yourself then only then you can take care of your family and run the show.

People who have just cleared their school exams are judging her and giving their opinions , I am sure her academia , entrepreneurship as well as age must have given her more exposure and understanding . Coming from iim myself I can very well relate with her . Management , Business , Entrepreneurship these are the areas where the person deals with the factors that are not taught anywhere , I repeat ANYWHERE and so does life . In my own college I have seen companies coming and recruiting an average mediocre person and DML’S ( majority are getting placed at the end) Reason being they just studied and crammed books all the two years . Where are as some of us participated in b school case competitions, formed groups with different people and learnt new skills every single time with them , many times took risks , failed miserably . When these scenarios clashed with end term exams , we had to decide and take some risks . At the end of the day when I look back I see holistic learning . On the other hand I have seen toppers when coming for GD / PI for job interview end up sweating , not speaking at all , and being nervous . Job interviews at IIMs in 2nd year is kind of very unique they might end up giving anything , be a huge case or many more things depending upon the profile. People pick smart people ( mostly street smart ) The toppers have unidimensional development and approach which kind of works well sometimes ( they are huge resistant to change) because school and college exams give you pre determined syllabus , portion and whatnot . Risk taking ability of these people is nil. Life is uncertain and they get anxious . People who take everything with a pinch of salt where they work but not being overly ambitious and are little flexible go a long way. Because they are not fixated on a particular thing . They keep in innovating , inventing new methods and ideas and at particular point whatever seemed best they move in that direction .Kids in schools and colleges can have the opinion they want to have . Reaching mid 30’s will give slight idea that too only if you look back and observe .
