Hate is a very strong word. Nobody hates Peter Wright. His form hasn't been good for over a year now. He's very definitely on the decline, and it's sad to watch. Nobody hates him though.
His flashy persona is not actually Peter, it’s his wife who does all the hair and colour. They all have walk on music yes? That in itself is cheesy but it’s about entertaining. You know getting the crowds through the door to grow the sport. Why don’t people just think for a second before criticising. That age has gone, really. What’s in its place, people posting bollox for views, people (influencers) doing all kinds of crap just to get noticed online. Maybe it’s my age that I go against the ‘current’ trend or narrative. Meh, what’s the point.
Wouldn't say hated just yet, but he does say silly things and the more it happens, the crowd will turn. He's got a lot on his plate, both on and off the oche, and maybe its all piling up. But saying things which cause a stir, and directly naming people creates ill feeling which isn't needed.
I’ve met him a couple of times and think he’s a great ambassador for darts. Something isn’t quite right, maybe distractions away from darts, he had a reputation as putting the long practise hours in. Having missed the PCF and no exhibitions late 2023, I expected a refreshed, confident Snakebite at the worlds.

Hate is ridiculous! He's a great man and player. He's an ambassador for the sport ! Clearly, he's gone through a hard time, and he has that bloody right to be. Peter Wright, the only guy that thinks you get in the Prem League because of old stuff you've won. Its a popularity contest with recent form thrown in. Peter's "gimmick" is becoming stale because his form sucks, and EVERYONE knows it.
I don't think he is hated . But the statement made about the premier league and dobey he made then next match averages 80 for most of it ain't helping. I think his form has got worse in the last couple of years and tbh this premier league he is really going to struggle and possibly finish last and nobody wants to watch that . He keeps changing darts and set ups during games and that is someone who is struggling. I think he will now keep falling down the order of merit
He has started spouting stuff without engaging his brain. Great player, but obviously struggling. The chopping and changing doesn't help. If something wasn't broken in the first place don't try to fix it. Maybe he should have a word with Stephen Bunting, he has used hypnotherapy or something, and seems to be in a great place mentally now.
There's no hate for Peter. He's by far the nicest and most humble guy on the tour and all the stress he's under just taking its toll... it's just that the contrast is higher, we're kinda used to see thinskinned GP or MvG taking a piss at everyone when even just slighlty criticized. From a personality point of perspective, Peter Wright remains my favourite player and I wish him to get back to form without any nonsensical "hate" talk...
lol, so he’s had some injury problems and his wife was very poorly, he’s lost his form and someone says something and he takes it the wrong way. The guys been playing 30 years on Tv, he goes out of his way to entertain and the title of this was my he’s hated. By who? You never said. Give the guy a break, you don’t know what he’s going through and if my partner was taken ill, I’m sure I’d be a bit pissed with life to. People forget these people are human, just like me and you, so give him a break and bravo to Mardle coming out saying basically the same thing as me. Wright is also correct, if you are outside say the top 32, you are a mediocre player simple fact. So yes, you do need to put the hours in and take Ricky Evens for instance, he will tell you himself, he’s lazy when it comes to practice. But it’s a catch 22, you need a job to supplement your dart income and thus you can’t practice as much. Finally, the remarks about Luke Littler are also correct, players shouldn’t have to babysit any player if he had a stinker in the premier league. Thankfully he can hold his own remarkably well. I also think if littler didn’t make that final Dobey would have been in the prem. do I think Wright deserved his place in the prem, I’m 50/50. Based on the last 12 months, no, but if you know about his injury and his wife being in hospital and Wright wanted to play in the premier league, then yeah he should play. If the premier league didn’t have a heart, then no, he didn’t deserve to be in this years league. We are so quick to judge and make useless videos criticising anyone who goes through some kind of personal issues. But that’s just how the world is these days. If it gets views or clicks, it’s all that matters and yes, I have succumb to venting my opinions, so job well done yes?

@@michaellawlor5625 I honestly don't know. It isn't because he has the yips or anything ridiculous. It just isn't as smooth as it was. When you have things on your mind it detracts, so that is probably all that it is.

@@michaellawlor5625 I had to stop playing for a very very long time but I finally figured it out and now I'm getting over the yips slowly. It manifested itself in me as stress and the extreme fear of missing. The brain wants you to not do something if you are afraid, so when you pull your arm back it is stopping you because of the fear that exists. Perfectionism will kill anybody psychologically, and that's where problems can start. Not the same for everybody, but may be worth evaluating your honest thoughts when you throw. As for Peter's darts, I imagine that Red Dragon love him for having used so many darts, as it gives them loads of variations to sell. Then again, Winmau do the same with MVG, where they make loads of barrels and any that he tried become 'MVG Design'. Anything to make money. :-)
@@AllThisOverASliceOfGabagool Ahh, that's good insight. I got it as a kid when I went to play for England. Made me look like a fool. I did quit because of it myself, but had a few drinks one evening and someone asked me to play, then they was gone, but it was the alcohol that calmed it down. Even with alcohol now (even though it helps it) can't get rid of it. I've just got back into darts now, so I'm working on it. I got diagnosed with OCD, anxiety, depression 7 years ago. Seems to be fitting into place. I don't think it's perfectionism with me (although it is there) but I think the main reason is, I've got something to prove. Mr England, so to spk. The right darts is big in darts. You get the right ones you're laughing. Up your game 30%. You keep changing because of finance, I think it will affect your game.
well atleast he is right about dobey, but dont talk down to lower ranked players, he has been there himself, and as he have been playing the last year or so he is going to the lower ranks himself.

Did u watch until the end? Because he does mention a few comments Peter made recently ...including the one about littler. But I agree...the majority of this video is just about his performance and performance is no reason to "hate" someone
Hate is a powerful word and implies feeling strong negative emotion. For many more people, the flamboyant 53 yr old is simply B-O-R-I-N-G. Watching competitive dart throwing is meaningless entertainment for truly lazy-minded people. With no audience, imagine how silly the hair that takes 2 hrs to prepare, the costumery, and the show, all become.
Great player but out of form,his biggest problem is his mouth of late,shut your mouth and put in the practice would be my advice,so so many great up & coming players
Peter is a legend. His form has been poor the last year. Hli think he shouldn't be in the Premier league this year but i think it because they have to Scottish dates and because he is Scottish they feel they would have to include him for the Scottish fans so they can sell both there dates. Peter will come good again and i think you will see the old peter at the Scottish dates. Playing in front of his own people will bring it out of him us Scots have a tendency to do that.
He plays darts for his wife, she basically wears the trousers in the relationship. Telling him what he can,. She's a gold digger sponging of her man. She herself from the sounds of it has literally has no job or very little clients being a failing hairdresser. She basically just wants to live of Peter's money.

He really is one of the most unlikeable players on the tour. It's only now that he's not playing well anymore that he shows the person behind the mask. Really hope to see his downfall from now on

The reason peter is struggling and acting like a different person is because he is drinking two much look at his Ali Pali walk on and his interview yesterday the pressure has got too much for him need to stop drinking oh his game will never come back
I watched the pdc champions q&a panel during the World championship in December and Peter Wright definitely sounded like he had a very serious alcohol problem.
Do you think Phil Taylor gave a shit about the lower ranked players? No , yet Wright gets stick for the same thing. As for Littler , why should he be babysat?
