Girl your point of wearing saaree is so strong even i was thinking that why they aren't trying sarees or any other indian traditional dress , everyone in west will be amazed by a women's beauty in saree and no one will have guts to judge
I don't think there jaws would drop becuz they care about there outfits and culture more... Obviously you won't were a traditional Indian attire in a western party ... Same you also won't wear a western attire in an Indian function
Yah it is sad that we are looking up too much to western side. I hope India creat its own fashion sense or atleast enhance the fashion we already had, like saree, kurtas, which are more comfortable and good looking as well.
But how can you say indian attires are better than the western ones? It's completely subjective! Personally, I prefer western over indian traditional anyday. Depends upon an individual.
Beautifully explained. I find it funny how nowadays majority of Westerners find our Vedic culture to be fascinating. Take yoga, meditation for example. While we as Indians still continue to copy their lifestyle among other things. I am not saying it's bad or should not be done at all, but we shouldn't forget who we are. In short too much of everything is bad.
Yeaah But nowadays you see....even people..like indians just see hollywood things buddy..so it's obvious that bollywood people will think ki agar public ko waha ka accha lag rha hai..so lets take inspiration from them!!
That one sentence stole my heart ❤️ "Why we need their validation ? Why we have that concept that they are superior then us in every aspect " Yes we have that not only this industry but in everywhere , it's is stable in our unconscious mind . If you notice how we treat and always lookup to a foreigner (whites , blue eyes , blond hair we don't judge they are from UK or US) but do they , that was not necessary always to them , this is the outcomes of 200 + years mental slavery still we all fight with ourselves . 😔😔
You seek validation from someone you consider superior to you. Once you stop giving people that upper hand you'll get to live life with freedom in true sense. Free from the pressure of expectations and fear of getting judged.
I think their is nothing wrong with copying style From westerners many countries wear western culture based styles like Jeans tshirts so commonly i think its ok to copy style If you like something You can wear or style it for your own happiness you don't need any validation from anyone It will be very Judgemental to Judge people And their character based on their clothes or What they like to wear its their personal choice all they can do is wear something decent not vulguar.
Few months ago I was hugely following Korean youtubers (vlogs), most of them were American citizens, I observed one thing in particular that they followed Korean culture and were proud of it. I'm not saying ditch tshirts and jeans but we should start appreciating our culture more. I became even more proud of my heritage, appreciating all the good stuff (specially food). Take pride in Yoga (Surya Namaskar is so good for relaxation and weight loss), how healthy and wholesome and natural our meals are, like these.
I relate to this too! I love BTS and I watch a lot of their content and I felt that they are so passionate about their language and culture - most of them don't speak English and they don't consider themselves inferior because of that. They also prefer Korean food and Korean culture of social hierarchies. Stanning them made me realise that today's youth is overlooking our rich heritage and we get an inferiority complex for no reason.
@@RD-oo6yq India have 20+ official language....So English is a common language to communicate. U know here each and every state have there own culture and traditions. Here in India , we have taught English in school at very young age. There in Korea, English is more of optional subject...
@@NaveenSingh-gb4nb I know that. India's beauty lies in it's diversity. I just think that we, as a country, give way too much importance to english and western culture in general than we should. Being fluent in English is seen as a mark of good education and not speaking it properly is seen as uneducated / backward. The same for our culture in general too.
Them taking pride in their pop culture started from the time korea became rich and made a noun for itself then the Korean wave happened. The previous generations weren't like this when it was a poor country, when Samsung couldn't Barrow from the world bank beacause it was an unknown company with no credibility and the government took the money for them! Wh ed n their cinema used to make awful copies of Godzilla, king Kong and Bruce Lee's movies instead of the quality cinema it has now! A korean American guy once said growing up his mom never tried to teach him speak korean or korean culture as she thought it's inferior to his western side, her country wasn't known by many there and she preferred her son only grow up as an american but after 2000s that the economy boosted simultaneously the cinema started a significant growth and their entertainment boath music and dramas industry became famous things changed. They used to call the Korean war the forgotten war beacause how no one knew about it or care about it but now every korea boo and fan knows a bit about their history! The new generation grew up confident since they were rich and famous since forever they could remember to the point that every immigrant Korean individual decided to become a social media celebrity just beacause they're Korean and they have a chance it's like these influencers are one of the aspects of Korean wave. I remember the interview with the director of "jewel in the palace" which was the drama that started Korean wave. He said their young g ed generation wouldn't watch their own period dramas, they weren't up to their taste and were more for older audiences so he asked his young daughter why does she prefer to watch Japanese dramas other than Koreans she said beacause they're all dull and boring and there is nothing for my age in period dramas the as actor were mostly middle aged and low class people all wore white ( beacause that was historically accurate) but it made it visually boring. So considering all these he decided to make different period dramas with more color full outfits and interesting plots. That's how it is, if a country wants its people confident about their heritage and history (even make up history for themselves), produce quality and win international appreciation for their country... the government and industries should first make the country rich and advanced enough and then invest on its culture promotion it doesn't just happen on its own.
I really like Urfi Javed's confidence... She really carries very well, even if it's revealing too much.. Neither I like her dressing style nor I hate her dressing style....
Well said spill bee..i dont understand why people think following western style is being cool and they are superior and jo nahi chahta usse bhi karna padta hay fit in hone k liyeee !!
Tumhe pta hai iss spill bee ne ananya Pandey par aisa video banaya hai jaha pe ananya Kendell ko copy kr rhi thi but usne kha ki Ananya ki galti nhi hai and ye bhi kha ki vo bohot acchi lag rhi thi aur tha pe ye deepika ko bura bol rhi hai
Deepika said in most of her interviews that she loves indian attire and found it very elegant.. She also did wear saree when she attended her first Cannes film festival in 2010 * I just wanted to mention this point also otherwise no offense for the content.. agree with most of your points*
I was actually emphasizing on "20th annual Hollywood awards", during this year deepika's film/trailer was released in hollywood so it was a real debut for her .. before this which ever events she went to like Cannes there she was representing the brand and india in a way .. but during that particular 20th annual award everyone was just talking about her film with vin diesel .. bt i understand i just skipped this part in the video hence the confusion, should have included it :)
Hypothetically... if I have to be in these places I would pick a traditional wear displaying Indian hand looms or embroidery. They are all so exquisite and I don’t want them to be some forgotten art. Other topic see wars make you realise how important it is to be self sufficient as a country. Atleast for research, manufacturing and farming.
We in our daily lives copy so much fashion from our available sources and that is not a crime If I like something that I see and I want to wear it there's nothing bad about it. Please do your homework! Wearing westernised clothes or indian clothes won't make anyone less of an Indian or more of an Indian. You've termed it horribly wrong by saying that they are seeking for validation!
She is just saying that we are people pleasers and I agree. Also it is not about clothes but the design and how similar it looked stating that originality is no more. She is not saying to not wear Western clothes or anything but saying that we should not lose our culture blindly following the west. Reality is bitter and cold no matter how much you sugar coat it🤷
@@pritikumari-hn9kv but by wearing western clothes it doesn't mean that we are losing are traditional culture... And how is she so sure that these people wear western clothes to please others or seek validation?
@@pritikumari-hn9kv but how do you decide that they seeking validation is the reality? She has worked internationally and has a global presence if she wears something western it is purely and solely because she wanted to and because she is seeking validation...
Finally kisse ne yeh topic pe bola.... Hame foreigner especially USA ki approval ki zarurat nh hai...vo log apne me hi pagal and judgemental hai...hum indians ko apne khud k culture k hisab se hi chalte rahna chahiye...varna vo din dur nh jab yeh so call rich influence hamare young generation pe USA wala culture dekha dekha k indian culture hi bhula de... Btw great video😘 love to see your opinion which has literally changed me too..thank you🙏
Deepika NEEDS to fire her stylist. Such a gorgeous woman and all her looks in the past year ruined her. She should adopt a timeless style and she has been blessed by beauty that looks timeless. None of her looks in the gehraiyan promotions suited her.
@@tanyajenner2331 She is in a profession that depends upon how the public perceives her. How an actress dresses and presents herself is extremely vital to the success of her present and future projects. She is considered to be one of the most beautiful actresses in the world. And if she suddenly dresses in a way that a large part of her audience dislikes, then if she is smart, she would take the constructive criticism and understand what she's doing wrong and try to improve. Also, Deepika pays crores to an overactive PR already. If you wish to be an unpaid social justice warrior to a millionaire actress, do so elsewhere. Now shoo
I just love the way you explained things with so much sense!and the best part was you addressing the issue of superiority mindset that the west has. I would love to see you make a video on colonisation and the inferiority complex it instilled in us(Also I just discovered your channel and I’m loving it!)
You're absolutely RIGHT..... Indian Attires is something which our Bollywood celebs always forget to wear Met Gala.. idk why they do so.... Like, why don't they try it.
It's their life, if celebs want to wear Indian, they wear Indian, even if they want to copy Hollywood celebs, what's wrong with that??? It's their choice, their money, their body, why do you want to comment about that?
Yeah you should always feel comfortable in what your wear. Like Billie ellish, she always wear hoodies and beanies which I really appreciate. It's really cool of her.
Well in billie's case she was a minor and she didn't wanted to let herself get sexualised that's why she used to hide her body before since she had such incidents in the past and also she does likes to wear them as well not denying that but now when she turned an adult she started experimenting with her looks as well you can see in her recents choices of outfits so I don't think billie's example sits well here
Why Deepika? Why you hating on your own people. Why don’t you mention that Beyoncé wore the exact same outfit that Deepika wore at Cannes. Or Lily wearing Deepikas reception outfit after Deepika? Kindly don’t be a hypocrite and show both sides
Our "people" don't know acting maybe that's why Maybe their movies script when Hollywood watch their dumb item songs and scripts they laugh So the our "people" are the only ones who are insulting us😂
I love how you started the video with fashion choices but gradually the video evolved into an honest geopolitical and social commentary on the western dynamics and politics. Love you ❤️
Wow i thought we only copied Hollywood music and portuons of their movoes. The dresses you showed earlier were not inspirations from west, they were exact copies. This is what happens when you try too hard. Going to an event in the west is an amazing opportunity to showcase our culture. You don't have to be full on bridal mode but there are many subtle ways to represent who you are.
I stumbled upon your channel a few days ago and i have a few things to say to you. I totally like the starting cartoon and your voice. And also you do a pretty good job and also have a very good opinions. Keep up the good work.
Okayyy.. tbh I really agree with her opinion in all videos but this one is just not done.... like first she will say the boys not to judge girls by their cloths and now she's making video on it? Like if deepika is not complaining then why we are bugging about it? And also the example she gave from one series is like... wt-?
I think in this video her main motive was to highlight the inferiority complex of abroad culture and fashion influence on India that the celebrities need to stop pleasing their fashion ethics and trends, it's not about judging an actress on her fashion styles
The way she’s dressing now it according to the international level & doesn’t mean she’s copying someone because in western countries celebs sometimes wear same clothes & don’t care. She was dressing western because gehriyaan didn’t have a single Indian fit so she’s going according to the vibe of the movie . eg: alia bhatt is wearing only Indian for Gangubai promotion. And if your saying they she should Indian aatire in the west , Deepika wore a saree in her first Cannes festival & for met gala etc there is a typical theme u need to follow every year & her met gala gown was so pretty. Not justifying but stating the facts :)
i agree ki met gala has different themes every year .. my suggestion of indian attire wont work with met gala .. i was actually emphasizing on "20th annual hollywood awards", during this year deepika's film/trailer was released in hollywood so it was a real debut for her .. before this which ever events she went to like Cannes there she was representing the brand and india in a way .. but during that particular 20th annual award everyone was just talking about her film with vin diesel .. bt i understand i just skipped this part in the video hence the confusion, should have included it :)
Bro u need to chill just because she wears leather pants or bodysuit doesn't mean she is copying kylie many are wearing them nowadays and if its in fashion they will wear it regardless of who wore it before... maybe come up with better content like best and worst outfits then it can give us a clear idea of how good their fashion sense is
Kylie is an influencer. Her work is to influence people and there's no doubt Kylie and kim has started leather pants trends and others are following it doesn't mean they are copying her! Also deepika is pretty but Jenners/Kardashians are trend setters!
I mean u r literally wearing the same cloth. How it is not copying. Ans not just deepika but entire Indian fashion industry Sucks. And then they have audacity to call each other fashion icons Just expensive cloth. Pakistani fashion is way better.
@@aanchalfinwoman well she was talking about leather fashion so the style seemed inspired no way it was copy .. about the other gowns n all that were the copy than indeed those were the jobs of stylists to check on it before and about Pakistani fashion I'm not so familiar with it as I've never seen any great representation before it's pretty much same as the indian one tbh..no hate tho
Completely disagree with the fact that Deepika was trying to copy Kylie orany other celeb. Repeating dresses is pretty common among celebs in various regions. Be it bollywood, hollywood or kpop. These are just high end labels anyone is free to wear them, no one owns these designs or certain styles.
I like watching your videos. I mean they are so truthful and informative. I have been watching all your uploads ever since the day I found you I my feed
The validation point reminded me of the mental defeat theory explained in MS Dhoni movie when Dhoni tells his friends how his team mentally lost to Yuvraj Singh coz of his stature making their game strength go so down that just Dhoni's good performance was not enough & they lost. Inferiority complex starts with us seeking validation on our thinking and living. If we stop doing that, we can be at power to anyone while our words & actions will complete the rest.
Looks like spill bee has her own team of stylists FYI actresses get paid to wear these clothes in order to represent the specific brand. Stylists are basically a manager for your wardrobe from making sure to get each piece altered, ironed and tailored perfectly to fit the actress to deciding how to style the entire look with shoes, jewellery etc. Please understand that half truth or half facts cannot be your base for a full debate or opinion... When they go abroad for any event they get sponsored or paid to wear Gowns from the brands that are based there Why on earth would you link fashion with politics? You speak about practical solutions too Just like you linked fashion with politics can you please explain that wearing lehengas and sarees are very comfortable and practical... Wearing western clothes doesn't mean we are seeking for validation from western regions Look at yourself we as Indians only wear Indian clothing for festivals or occasion compared to casual wear.
Yeah true we don't know for a fact who is doing what to seek validation and wearing something western is a choice and doesn't lead to seeking validation...
so what you’re saying is that deepika or priyanka should wear a saree in the met gala? Like i get it, it’s a national attire but they actually represent a brand in the met they just don’t wear whatever they feel like.
Have u seen kangana airport looks past years ? Am fallen in love with that the way she style herself 💖 sometimes she wear backless blouse with plain and simple sarees with specs and sometimes a boss lady attire of suit pant 🔥 and walk like a Queen 👑 whatever is the outfit 🤩
@@brishtieaesthethic6226 yes truly she is literally best 👌i remember she wore golden kanchiwaram saree with sleeveless blouse and purple gloves with black specs 🤩 and one more that black shimmery saree with retro hair ♥ ✨ and nobody can beat that look where ditched all boring gowns and chosen that catsuit with her curls so hot 🔥 🥵
Western celebrities proudly express their culture and tradition not just the celebs but ppl also embrace their traditions never seek others validation. We indians hesitate to do so. If u look at the Oscars you will see many famous celebs wear simple but elegant dresses they hardly over do anything.Lastly you can look glamorous in any attire if u know how to carry it properly.
I never comment on videos but this is the first time I don't really agree with your perspective. Generally, love your videos and story telling and find that we're usually on the same page. However fashion is an extremely subjective topic. While we sit here and judge people's outfits, we also say why look for validation from anyone well within the same breath. Ofcourse nobody forces celebrities to put on a certain outfit. But we don't know whether the other 1 or 2 other options that stylists gave them were better than this. They are trusted with this job as they are professionals and keep a track of trends, study body types and colours and various factors before suggesting outfits. So while the celebs may have a pseudo choice, they might not really be in a place to make these decisions and may not have the time and energy with working on themselves, shooting, promotions etc. As for copying western styles, we all know trends don't belong to anyone and do full circles. Today, I wear the trends that I once made fun of and so many bollywood celebrities buy from the same designers/ labels as the west. Being "late to the game" is no reason to call something bad fashion. As for the "choosing what you find comfortable" analogy, many outfits look extremely comfortable at first glance but only might turn out to be uncomfortable in certain postures, after a while or with certain inner wear or even just at certain time of the month *winks*. It's really hard to judge all these factors at first, I know I've left to parties feeling comfortable and confident but mid way realised I wasn't comfortable in the footwear or clothes anymore. They're only human so we can cut them slack for that. Specially as Deepika generally carries herself well, with grace and confidence. And most of us are also guilty of putting style and aesthetic above climate and comfort for important events and pictures. So why not celebs? Nothing is going to stop trolls from trolling. You mentioned that Indian celebs wouldn't get trolled if they wore a saree but I remember Aishwarya and many miss universe contestants being trolled brutally by our own sweet Indian media for the sarees, style etc. If someone wants to wear western/ Indian outfits it's completely their choice and should not be based on what trolls have to say. If we were invited to a western wedding or college concert, I'm sure we'd wear western clothes cause it fits the occasion better. I completely agree with our need to get over our inferiority complex with the west and things you said about political agenda. It's more clearly visible to me as I live in the west. However fashion can come from anywhere and be inspired by anyone and imo needs no justification. Someone who seeks validation in western wear, will do the same in Indian attire as well. And as you mentioned, we can be more open to choices people make in terms of outfits as they're trying to just find their niche/ style and look their best just like we do. :D Sorry about the super long message lol.
Some of you are saying she’s copying bruh it’s called inspo , if u have Pinterest you’ll understand, we also take inspo from other ppl’s fit and it’s ok
Yeah but what about if someone is not looking good in that ? You can get inspired from anyone but atleast you should know that is it matching me or my personality ?
I feel like we should not look at saree only as a formal/cultural outfit and wear more of it, even as casual outfits. Sarees are such elegance. They can be traditional, modern, sensuous, strong, petite, pretty.... EVERYTHING. Also the infinite possibilities of draping. And if our celebs wear a saree to a Hollywood event, they'll surely create a huge buzz. After all, western media loves call things exotic and loves people who boldly, unapologetically accept their culture. Even critics will fear to judge a saree as they have no idea about it and would be scared to be called racists. Just a thought
You have to dig deeper on your information and provide valid points no doubt that you have spoken very well in the previous videos but I just feel that valid full facts are missing from your recent videos...
GIRLL your opinions are just so amazing! You’re not like the other tea channels your videos are always good and have a good imapact on other people’s opinions. The other tea channels are always so attention hungry and they’ll agree with the haters just to fit in and they’re super annoying to watch.
The Hollywood dress designs are inspired from different native culture such as native indians, African tribes, South America tribes, east asian and south east asian traditional dressses which are further alterations made to look more modern. The main inspiration for kardashian are African culture. Even kim and her sister hour class body shape is inspired from African women looks. The west and Hollywood blatantly copy from others culture to set trends and movie storylines. The foxi eye look is taken from east asia they making fool out off there followers. If only our indian actresss and their stylists made dressses inspired from our traditional wears it would have been game changer and new trend setting but Bollywood as always don't focus on creativity just copy paste what's new in market
I love ur thought process....completely unbiased.....what is correct...is correct...what is wrong is wrong...I have just subscribed ...n watching each n every video of urs....impressed
Deepika looks Damn Gorgeous in Saree. Nowadays maybe she's understanding that Wearing Saree in international event makes her more presentable and confident. And she's implying it too. There's a saying that *When and Indian girl wears Saree, The World stops to admire the Grace*
Deepika has recently turned ambassador of Adidas and LV so in most cases she is just promoting their clothes. The red air port look for example was also on Beyonce she is also ambassador for Adidas.
Absolutely right ye jo youtubers hai iska ananya pandey vala video bhi dekhna ananya ko to support kr rhi thi jab usne Kendell ko copy kiya tha tab aur yha pe Deepika ko copy keh rhe hai ise money milta hai isliye yesa bolti hai ye
I usually don't comment but trust me ..your words compelled me to. Your views and everything you say is so right ....keep up the good work...just love ur videos❤
You know what you deserve millions of views...your channel is so underrated the more I see the more I'm falling in love with your channel...you explained so beautifully and your voice is so soothing
Exactly! Exactly! Exactly!! What's coming from their culture, their land, ofc they would definitely have a better hand in terms of what's not trendy or unique or not appeal western masses. Sabse badhiya hai khud ke culture ki cheezen pehno...jiske fashion sense ke baare me tumhe A-Z pata hai and comfortable hoge. Sach me koi judge nahi karega.
You are being influenced by their culture, attire, and yet you don't want to be judged by their scale of fashion sense. Nice.. Just decide 1st, what do you want?
And for the matter not everybody is asking for validation more people now feel more comfortable in western clothes than traditional . I anytime prefer heel over normal shoes I don't like wearing Saree or Kurta I feel uncomfortable in them but my friends don't feel that when they see me it up to the eyes of person who is seeing and making judgments . We only see want we want to see or what we personally feel .
Hey spill bee....we all want a video on ur biography😄...like a video in which u tell about urself ....or a QnA video...plzz make a video on urself plzzz plzzzz plzzzz😘😘
Blackpink girls wore hanbuk (korean traditional dress) in such a way in their song "how you like that" that it became a trend and it even appealed the western fans
Can't u leave her alone? Kylie is one of the most popular... Many girls r following Kylie. It's not copy.... If I will like a dress then I will wear it too. Edit-wearing western clothes won't make them superior, it's just like.... Western clothes r more comfortable (at least for many women).
It's true we always think that America is superior but honestly speaking their fashion sense is getting worse day by day especially Kardashians their own people have started to criticize them. They always choose their fashion over their comfort I've seen lots of time that their dresses are really unique but in same uncomfortable for ex Zendaya since she's my favorite so I follow her I've seen lots of time that she feels uncomfortable in her clothes.
God you are so wrong about the fashion and international fashion critiques, it’s not about wearing Indian attire and not to worry about international critics validation, it’s about the artistic & creative freedom you take while representing Indian attire on world fashion map!! Madam, Deepika did wear simple saree in Cannes still she got lot of criticism in her early days ( if I am not wrong after om Shanti Om) Same mistake done by Aishwarya in her early days, to be honest those sarees and fashion was so hideous, even Aishwarya must have ashamed of it Now let’s talk about actual fashion, we all know sonam is not great actress but she is fashion queen, the experiment she did with sarees during Cannes and feather gown during those days is so commendable Imagine those feather ruffle looks still u used by western fashion designer and celebrity wear such gowns during met gala Sonam represent Indian designer, wearing fab sarees from aashi studio, I guess Vidya wore sabyasach design as well but it didn’t click much With western media but in case of sonam Kapoor, all of them went gaga over her fashion choices!! So it’s not validation, it’s artistic freedom and creative liberty you need to take with cloths to channelise the art than an only normal viewer like us will be able to take chance and experiment with cloths at ground level
Western artist r comfortable in their clothes cause they get liberty of experimenting with fashion where as Indian actresses always get trolled for all their stuff!! Even deepika wearing that denim outfit she was comfortable or not she herself knows n it didn't look uncomfortable in anyway but she'll still get trolled!! Idk y we expect so much from celebrities !! Let them do their things as long as they aren't mocking any culture!! N for what I think Deepika just pull many of the outfits cause of her perfect body n height!! If we really hv to change anything then we should start with ourself we can't expect celebrities to do everything they do what they feel right!!
@@pinacclepenny8315 I don't think it was hideous!! It was totally beautiful! But again it's just our opinion! She wore what she might have liked! We shouldn't be so conservative n let them try as long they aren't mocking any culture that's what I think! N I completely respect ur opinion u might have felt that but I didn't! I surely like to try those clothes too!
@@arohabelllieve6058 sis it’s okay . U can try out.. also it’s not about being conservative I love deepika too she is an absolute goddess but sometimes her outfit doesn’t kick and this denim onesie was one of them . It was a Terrible choice period .
We need to create n showcase more types of ethnic wears. Indians celebs have overworn saris in western events to a point of exhaustion. By your logic all Japanese actors should just come in a Kimono in all western events. Fashion/entertainment is a cruel world and you just can’t play “safe” all the times. As an artist it’s their duty to push the envelope in creativity, and simultaneously appear relatable. Sari is relatable to us, not to those audience. What’s really is missed that Indian designers and stylists need to be more creative and create more Indian yet relatable wear.. rather than just blindly copying Hollywood. And no a Sari can’t be an answer to all our questions.
Seriously I'm fed up of this culture of seeking validation aur trying to be like the western people. Like why? A meme also got viral where, a lady was not allowed to enter or dine at a restaurant in Delhi just because she was wearing a saree! That was so shameful. Agar Itna hi pasand hai western culture to wahin Jake lagao na apna kachara🥱.
exactly girl!! I always think ki ye bollywood actresses baahar jaakar indian kapde kyun nahi pehenti kabhi?? -_- like a beautiful sari has the potential to steal the showw!! and i guess a lot of you will resonate with me on this. btw i am obsessed with your videos❤
There is a lot in India to take inspiration from other than just the embroidery or prints and then drown it by stitching it to a completely western style. Neither do they have to stick to the authentic traditional pattern as in Sarees draped in the same old way or same old salwars. There are elements in Indian fashion that we can use innovativly, just take the numerous ways we manipulate pleats in sarees....I bet no other culture has ever been so creative with pleats and are still completely oblivious to it. Also the multiple different necklines, cut outs and stringing in blouses. Take the way the ends of pagdies are styled and flared out, the same was done by old traditional kerala attire, which only consisted of two sets of cloths and no blouses. Our gold border and white sarees are beginning to be stitched into anything other than just the same old kurthis. There are also a lot of accessories that are quite unique to you, like head pieces....we better use that accessory connecting from ear to hair before the appropriate it as well. All of the attires for Indian classical dances are basically a goldmine to draw inspiration from.
