India needs highways, India needs dedicated freight corridor, India needs waterways. I would say - investment in infrastructure today would give 20x returns in the next 5 years. It is unbelievable that so many Indians who use highways would give so much importance to an outsider - who believes India does not need development. I don't understand how Dhruv Rathee followers can't differentiate between facts and narrative despite many people have pointed out him. Irrespective, many of my educated friend also watch him and says like he produces great content or he is making government accountable. The reason why you should stop watching his videos is because we don't usually cross verify information from multiple sources and consider it correct in the first place, as if that's the case with you too then take information from correct and reliable sources only.

You are absolutely right about the logistical part of highways and expressways, but you completely ignored the part where he mentioned making our cities more pedestrian-friendly and avoiding car-dependent infrastructure. We need to create cities with better public transport, reduce car and bike dependency, and develop more pedestrian-friendly infrastructure by building proper footpaths without illegal hawkers taking over them. To implement such changes, we need to make the local administration, such as the BMC in Mumbai, more accountable. Decentralizing the decision-making process from the top brass can also accelerate progress.

speaking from a transport planner's perspective, I think having roads is not the issue. Having a mix of railways (dedicated freight corridor) and highways is very important since as we know most of the users are heavy vehicles (logistics). Using the railways for a longer haul and highways for a short haul which will increase efficiency.
