Why Did Chimaev Callout Alex Pereira? 

Chael's ability to make content when there's nothing to talk about is second to none.

He’s just taunting people outside his weight class to stay relevant while he takes 14 months off.

I wanna lose my mind everytime he says "Pierra" but you can't argue against undefeated Uncle Chael.

I also know that he wants no part of Strickland knowing that Strickland is an animal and a bad match up for him. He just calling out Alex knowing that he will never fight him just to stay relevant while he fights 1 fight every 2 years because he can't travel and has personal issues. He basically lost this power after the burns fight, then he got scared of Nate Diaz and couldn't make weight, then he loses to usman who just got off the couch. Kumshot is done and he will never become a champion in any division. I've said this since the start because I see who he is and it's not championship material.

My problem with Khamzat is he doesn't have ANY title, his last 2 fights were with guys on super short notice, his last fight with a prepared guy (Burns) went the distance and could have gone both ways, and he is "calling out" a 2-division champ in 2 different sports. There is something called Respect.

Khamzat has shown that his tank doesn't hold alot of gas.I think Alex is many levels above anything he has ever faced. Khamzat simply would be outclassed and embarrassed by Alex if they were to fight anytime this year or the next

In fairness, there is some heat there between Chimaev & Pereira. Chimaev has wanted to fight Alex immediately after defeating Izzy. Alex had agreed to fight Chimaev at 205, w/ no belt on the line, but Chimaev wasn’t interested then. If Chimaev can’t take down Alex, I think it’ll be a short night for him. Two close fights against Welterweights gives me little confidence in Chimaev’s ability to fight at 205

Keeping it real Khamzat had trouble with welterweight Usman on 10 days notice. I think with full camp Usman starches him. So him fightng Alex at 205 and winning sounds absurd

Chael, thanks because I didn't know Strickland got stuck fighting DDP. It's not a bad thing but I'm sure it's less $. I support Chimaev if he doesn't want to wait for Sean, why not go for Periera. Chimaev kept training with COVID even when told to stop so a bad hand isn't stopping him if he doesn't want wait. He wants a title and he's earned a shot. Also he sits at home high in weight so he doesn't have to lose any weight for a match like this. I respect his call outs because he has always wanted to fight EVERYBODY. He also has never cared about weight divisions

Khamzat has been pressed twice by welterweights. One of which used to fight at lightweight. I'm pretty sure anyone of note at MW and LHW would work him if they make it out of the first few minutes.

When Pereira beat Adesanya Chimaev called out Periera and Pereira replied that he would fight Chimaev at light heavyweight. I'm suprised everyone has forgotten about this interaction. I guess Chimaev thinks that Pereira is still an easy opponent and now he has a belt, it's an easy way for Chimaev to become a UFC champion. Here's what is really important. Chimaev made one post and literally everyone is talking about it. To pretend like any fight with Chimaev won't be a superfight is nonsense. Chimaev vs Periera will be much bigger than Pereira vs Adesanya III or Pereira vs Hill. The more people say Chimaev doesn't deserve the fight, the more people will tune in just to watch Chimaev lose. and that's exactly what the UFC wants.

Chimaev needs to remain active! The title shot I think was contingent on getting Usman outta there in impressive fashion, which didn't happen. Now it's weird to make him skip the line. To be fair to him, he had faced no real competition before facing no2 Burns. That was a learning lesson. Then 1 fight and facing the Goat of welterweight. Which was never gonna be easy. Chimaev is a victim of his own hype! Everybody expects him to run through people, when he doesn't it's disappointment. He needs to remain active and keep sharpening himself.

Still waiting for his middleweight debut.. Against an actual ranked middleweight, which is a privilege within itself.

In my opinion Khamzat would be making a genius move in fighting Pereira, because Alex is super popular, people think he’s this walking embodiment of MMA destruction, but Alex can’t wrestle to save his life and if Khamzat fights Alex he gets a layup wrestling match with a guy who’s been champ across 2 divisions (after being his divisions former champ) before the man learns how to grapple. We already know Khamzat has to fight heavier guys in the gym just to get a workout so he’ll be used to guys Alex’s size. So, IMO Khamzat would boost his name a great deal and risk relatively little in the process, if he looses he can fall back on “not being ready,” but if he wins he will likely have done it while looking like a monster among monsters
