THANK YOU!! I've been looking at reviews for hours, and nobody was testing the Rode Videomicro when speaking directly behind it. I was under the impression that maybe it picked up no sound at all. I won't be behind the camera often, but it's good to know that it can at least do it if I need to. Great video! I'll be picking up the RODE.
That was probably the best review I’ve seen in a long time and very entertaining lol. I’ve never seen anyone hang out the car window for wind test haha that was awesome.
Thanks for the great comparison. I had a Rode VideoMicro, thought of trying Deity D4 Duo. But seeing how the wind muff not really able to handle windy situation, now I am reconsidering it.
Yeah, I tested it a few times before this video as well thinking I may have done something wrong. Just a little bit of a design flaw when it comes to that type of scenario.
My sir, this was a great edit. I love your GAS. Is that a weird thing to say? LOL I thought the deiti was better until you had it in the wind, oh my word. So thankful I also opted for the rhode back then (also because of your advice!) Stay blessed, and enjoy God's best!!
It was interesting that in this video they ALL sounded very similar! Would have been hard to choose, other than the wind tests. But in reality, based on other videos, the Movo actually sounds A LOT better than either of these two! It has a noticeably fuller sound. I can only assume it's because the guy in this video has such a high voice that the Movo's full range isn't evident.
I would use the rode because it is windy where I live pretty often. Sadly, I don’t have GAS because of my pre-existing FART issue. These Funds Are Really Tight. ;) I’ve just had to be thoughtful about where/when I film and use the onboard mic on the 2 cameras I switch between (Sony ZV-1 and my iPhone 12).
Helpful video! First, you helped me diagnose my problem. “Hi I’m PJ and I have GAS.” 🙋🏻♂️😳 So you kept me from buying something else. I’ll stick with my MOVO. It’s worked great. I just get the itch to “upgrade”. Keep these videos coming!
Haha, welcome to the group PJ. This is a safe place where those of us who suffer from GAS and freely discuss our upgrade itch. 😂 And I think you'll be just fine with that MOVO of yours. More videos on the way. 👍🏼
This video needs more attention 😊. Great comparison 👍. Liked and subscribed... Would it be too much to ask from you to take movo mic on a trip again with rode's windshield on it, if possible? I saw on another video that when you fit foam and windshield together, movo performs much better in wind. Maybe try that as well and let me know please 🙏😊 Tnx
Sorry about your gas man. Thanks for the reviews. I have an older MOVO mic without the headphone jack. But recently got the Rode Wireless Go II and have been loving it.
The reduced wind noise in the Rode might be (and I suspect it is) because unlike the other two the rode can not record very low frequencies which is like a lowcut (at 100 Hz in this case) that you can't switch off. To me, this is a disadvantage of the rode because low frequencies are just missing but for some people and in many situations this is an advantage. I prefer to record the full spectrum though. Actually, the Movo seems to be the only one out of these three that can record the lowest frequencies a human usually can hear so it would just be natural to have more wind noise on this one because it records EVERYTHING on the low end, which I like. I'm just referring to the official specs here. I don't actually know this from practice. In my opinion the Rode sounds the best in wind here because it is the worst at picking up low frequencies but you might need those frequencies some day, especially for music.
Dang it... I just ordered the Movo Pro - should have went with the Rode I see. Maybe an exchange and just get "gasy" like you and keep em both?? ;) Thank you for the video and for the no shame about showing your rooms in not perfect condition - I was inspired to show more of my messes now!!
Hey, as long as you don't try and vlog while hanging out a car window, you should be good with the Movo. 😂 It's a really good mic. And glad to hear showing the mess inspire ya. 👍🏼👊🏻
Awesome review brother! Started my channel 3-4 months ago and working on improving my videos! Definitely ready for a audio upgrade! Tough decisions but I think I might like the sound of the Rode the best
Yeah, really a personal preference for most situations. I lean towards the RODE as well, but again... personal preference. And congrats on getting started. 👊🏻 That's the biggest hurdle.
I came to this video because I'm in the market for a new mic. I'm currently using a Joby mic on my iPhone 13 Pro and the audio is horrible. I have a small RU-vid channel and use the Joby exclusively. I often to person-on-the-street interviews, so I was looking at the Deity D4 Duo, since it seems to be the only one with both a front and back mic. But I was concerned about the quality. I really don't need to hear my part of the audio when I make my videos, so the front facing mic is most important and I want to get the best quality possible, regardless of price. Having said that, it has to be a mic I can attach to my iPhone since I'm not using a regular camera (that is way out of my budget right now. I think I'll get the Rode. Thanks for doing this video.
Ohhh God, your comic timing 😂😂😂👌. I'm watching the video, which mic is best, but more than that, I'm watching you for your funny & comic timing, & funny dialogues... 😂😂😂👌. Love the way you deliver the information with fun 😆😄😁.... God bless you & your family sir... 😇😇😇
Haha, yeah I hear that for sure. I think it's been really helpful for me making this video and thinking through how I will use these and just getting what works for me. 👍🏼
HI, great video , which mic would you go with for recording guitar and backing music ? i am having trouble just using the mic on the sony VZ-1f i have , let me know what you think ,Thanks
@@PastorVaughn you know that Q2U is no slouch. It's got a really nice sound to it. I obviously love my SM7Bs and a large part of that is the look/aesthetics. MV7 would be a great step up (at half the cost of a SM7B) and it gives you USB and the ability to step up again to XLR with a good interface. 🤔👍🏼
Hi, thanks to share your interesting video. But I don't understand well the difference between Deity D4 Mini and Duo? Which is better for normal use? Thanks
I'm pretty sure the main difference is that the DUO has dual capsule microphones, which just means it's like a second mic pointing back at you (if you're behind the camera). If you don't need that, the Mini should work just fine.
Wow, those things have definitely also deceased in size since I got my mic. The movo is still respectable at it's price for sure! I haven't looked it up, but what is the pickup pattern for all of them? Super cardioid?
Yeah, I love the footprint of these mics. And yeah, the Movo for the price is really impressive. As for pickup patterns, the Movo is Supercardiod and the other two are cardiod. Although I guess the Deity would be dual cardiod since it has two capsules.
@@johnhayes81 you know that would probably work pretty well. I haven't tried that at all, but I do remember seeing someone try that and thought it worked pretty well.
