Another great review Scott, I purchased one today as I’ve wanted one for ages and this sealed the deal!, in relation to the blade gaurd kicking the off cut, the guy where I purchased advised me to wait until the blade break comes on and then you can lift the blade without risk of projectiles haha!, love your vids btw. Keep up the good work

Hands down best miter saw I’ve used not for raw power but for all the reasons you mentioned. The weight and tight profile and easy of bevel, etc... got mine in 2012 and still loving it

I really like about the Festool Kapex in general that the "working table" of the saw got the same high as a Festool I Systainer, so it's easy peasy so cut longer pieces that way!

I watched sooo many reviews of this saw as I was looking to buy one. I think the main gripe for most reviewers was the trigger position, and it nearly put me off buying it. However I bit the bullet and bought one... And I'm so glad I did! The trigger position does take a little getting used to, but after a while it's fine, don't let it be the decision maker! It's the best saw I've ever owned albeit a little pricey but hey I wanted to treat myself. 👍

Love the video. I love my kapex too! I found that the dewalt clips actually fit right on the kapex without any plywood, the holes lined up and I was able to bolt it strait on. I also use the “best fence” system from fast cap. It integrates perfectly with the dewalt stand and kapex.

Great saw especially ru-vid.comUgkxxnKxcY0vm4xjW8xkPbjaHuKt10gr-wG_ considering how drastically cheaper it is than every other track saw on the market. Only things I would mention is replace the blade immediately, the 24 tooth blade supplied leaves a lot to be desired.

Scott, I use the Dewalt stand with my Kapex. I laminated two 1\2" pieces of ply together to make a more sturdy intermediate filler. I originally did a large piece as you did but then the saw was heavy again so I cut down to two pieces just a by larger than the Kapex foot and that works great bolts to through Kapex and Dewalt adapter. Easy to move on and off saw. Only drawback would be added height for space in your van.

@@cmmartti Yeah, MDF just loves water - thirsty it be, and it swells up just lovely. And dries out still all swollen. MDF is basically cardboard. Horrible stuff. MDF are for the lazy who just want it cheap and easy.
@cire9984
@cire9984 3 года назад
@@1414141x MDF is a bit more sensitive yeah. Often it's laminated to help against the water stuff and make it a bit more resistant, but then you can't really fix it once it gets dinged up, like by a chair or something. With wood you can just paint it again, but you can't properly paint over laminate without that part catching your eye. But still, what he said is true. Wood will warp, MDF won't. If you got an application where it's more important that it's really straight and stays that way rather than standing up to wear, you should use MDF.

You made the right choice have had mine for 5 years and never looked back. The bisecting tool with the laser seams gimicy at first glance but after using it on funny angles in Reno work and such it is frigging awsome. I keep it in my truck and only use it for fine finish work and definitely don’t let a dull apprentice at it. You definitely should of giving the stand with the wheel and telescopic arms a chance I love mine. The telescopic arms give you really accurate stops so make really accurate repeatability easy

There's 2 holes in the base (that capture a M8 bolt head) for attaching it to a MFT type top - bolts go through the top and then down through the top and secured from underneath. I use those to attach it to a board with the DeWalt brackets bolted to it. It means you're free to take it off the mounting board and use it on flat surfaces with systainers as supports if needed.

I’ve had 3 “top-of-the-line” miter saws. My Kapex was my 3rd miter saw investment, about 10 years ago. I’ve made tens of thousands of cuts. I’ve tried several friend’s high quality saws too. I see no reason to replace my original Kapex. I really like the Festool blades. If tried a couple other premium blades and still came back to my Festool blades. I have a pair of the 60 tooth blades and send them to a very reparable blade service once a year. I also have an 80 tooth blade that’s never needed resharpening.

Scott, I have been using power miter boxes since 1979. I found the Kapex to be the best so far. Owning this saw since 2010, I have found that the saw plugged directly to an outlet, motor is stronger, vac outlet says good for 2 amps, this saw draws 11 amps under no load. Add blue tooth to the vac if your vac allows so you can plug saw in directly into wall outlet if possible. Increase hose size to 36mm. I cut about 90% of the little vents out of the front of the blade guard, now with laser on, head up, I can see two solid red laser lines on the stock to be cut. Hand position over blade makes for almost no deflection. Have fun with the saw, makes trim work simple...

I remember when I first heard about Festool my thought was "wow that is way way too expensive" so I went another decade without ever buying anything Festool. Recently purchased the track saw, dust extractor and a sander because I did particularly well on a few jobs and had the extra money to spend....all I can say is I wish I would have bought in to this brand years and years ago, all the ways it could have saved me time and frustration would be innumerable , I have no bought THIS saw just yet but am considering it. If it is anything as good as the track saw then it is worth every penny.The thing I love most about the track saw is I can break down sheet goods safely and accurately on a job site. at home I have a full size table saw with a table built around large enough to accommodate cutting full sheets but even in that case I am finding I like the track saw better at least for the basic breaking down of the sheet into more easily handled pieces.it is very quiet and even if you only use the bag it comes with instead of a dust extractor it is nearly dust free.I really really love it.

That’s funny, I really like my Kapex saw (exact same as yours), but I absolutely LOVE the Festool stand with both side wings or ‘trimming attachments’. The weight and mobility of the stand is amazing, so quick and easy to move and set up for a sole operator like myself, and once set up/figured out, using the measures and stops on the ‘trimming attachments’ has changed so many workflows for the better. If I had to choose the Kapex saw on a different stand vs a different top-shelf saw on a Kapex stand with attachments, it would be a toss-up. I work outside mostly so the Festool laser is next to useless, but I am very happy with it as a total package. Also for me, make sure you check the zero on the bevel adjustment, every day. Moving the saw, especially packing down and setting up on the stock stand, seems to always bump it out of zero.

Hi I’m using kapex over 6 years my is 110v I love it absolutely and I love kapex stand it’s perfect for setting saw in a solid surfaces, for outside work and rough ground surface I’m using dewalt stand the saw fitts perfectly on dewalt long bracket ( yeah there is two types of brackets for stand ) after my experience I can’t say bad word it’s a perfect accurate saw the only thing is a motor that burn 3 times but that is common issue in uk with 110v kapex saw the good think is that festool repair service it’s extremely quick and they sending their back own courier with a box design for transport Overal I’m very happy with all my festool tools. And I was like you trying all brand that way I learned what’s best

Tip for running skirting when you have to scribe it put a 5* bevel on it without taking off any width, less material to remove

Love your video's, also I'm on the look out for a good vacuum that can attach to the makita tools (and preferred other brands also), got any tips or recommendations, out of your experience?

Check out the nilfisk aero model. That's what we always used on the jobsites along side festool vacs.

I hated the safety switch on the one Festool I used. I like my 12" 36v Makita.

Great over sight, random question but what did you spray on the edge of the skirting when glueing, activator?🤔

Never had issues with the dust flap hitting the fence? Doesn't sliding the fence further out help if it would it? And have you considered the 'trim wings' ? also, the base is equally high as a sys-1 systainer ;)
