THis may explain the hatred that people like Tovia have towards Him and have made it his life's goal to destroy. If Jesus was not the Messiah, then Jews have little to fear, but if He is then they have everything to lose. Fortunately the Jews need to be told the truth and they must stop letting the silly rabbis think for them. Jews are very intelligent people and some of the most learned and respected people in the world have responded positively to Jesus as their Messiah. But this is fine, even when the people of Israel had Moses with them and could clearly see the miracles God did through him, they still decided to fight him. Is there anything in it that speaks about a far future? And even if it did, how does Jesus fit into it? It wasn’t Moses who gave Israel the commandments, it was God Himself. Jesus was taught by a great Teacher.....in the Holy Community not far from Jerusalem....but far enough to observe the feasts and Holy days on the right day, under the radar of the temple priests. There are so many things that can be said in your half truth sir, even if St Luke is interpolating that doesn't mean he is trying to deceive his audience and twist the Good news, there are just too many, I mean MANY cross references about what the Messiah will fulfill that we see in Jesus' life, besides destroying oppression and bringing back the lost sheep of Israel (the marginalized), as St Luke tells later in 7:22 to John the Baptist upon being questioned whether he is the Messiah, it is to see the blind can see, the lame can walk, the dead is raise up, read Isaiah 29:18-19, 35:5-6 and 42:7 (the last is the supposing "interpolation")
Jesus reading in the synagogue at Nazareth, Galilee is Luke 4:17-19, an excerpt from Isaiah 61:1-2. The passage speaks of one who is anointed to preach good news to the poor and bring freedom to those mourning and oppressed by their enemies. I believe that when Jesus was called to Torah reading he misquotes Isaiah when he was reading it in the synagogue. So, he did not fulfilled the mitzvah to read Torah. So, either Jesus was reading the Greek translation of the Hebrew bible or he misread Isaiah in Hebrew.

The oldest Hebrew texts from the dead sea scrolls match the Greek septuagent, but they differ from the Masoretic texts. all modern bibles, and Torah scrolls are derived from the Masoretic text, the oldest copy of which is less than 1,000 years old. Whereas the Septuagent has copies that date as far back as 1,000 BC. so when the rabbi accuses Jesus as misquoting the scripture he has made a mistake. Jesus quoted from the correct septuagent, while the rabbi reads from the mistranslated masoretic.

Back to the book of Isaiah The prophecy is true and does not contradict the book of Isaiah. We see a merge of scripture in relation to Isaiah 61v1v and Luke 4v18. Read the following. It says in Isaiah 42:7 =To open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon and those who dwell in darkness from the prison. Isaiah 29:18= In that day the deaf will hear the words of the scroll, and out of gloom and darkness the eyes of the blind will see. The authenticity of Moses is based on the public revelation at Sinai: God revealed Himself to the entire nation of Israel, at least three million people, and proclaimed before them the Ten Commandments. The entire Jewish people personally experienced that revelation, each individual in effect becoming a prophet, and each one verifying the experience of the other. With their own eyes they saw, and with their own ears they heard, as the Divine voice spoke to them, and also they heard God saying, "Moses, Moses, go tell them the following ..." They did not receive the occurrence of that event and accept it as some claim or tradition of an individual, but they experienced it themselves. That public revelation, therefore, authenticated the bona fide status of Moses as a prophet of God, and the Divine origin of the instructions he recorded in the Torah. That, and that alone, is the criterion for the belief in, and acceptance of, Moses and his teachings.

Israel was pained because of Gentile transgressions. If Jesus did have a historical existence, he could have conceptualized his career/mission/ministry as "messianic" without at all thinking that he was "THE" Messiah - you know, a kind of first-century tikkum olam, with his ministry establishing little pockets of the kingdom of God in Israel. His messianic model may disclosed in his own citation from Isaiah, that "now the prisoners are being liberated, the blind cured", etc. He could have seen himself preparing the way for the Messianic Age without actually claiming to be the Messiah himself. And it's to be recalled that the first to proclaim Jesus as Messiah were themselves first-century Jews. Obviously they were mistaken in that claim, since even they admitted that Jesus was not to actually function as Messiah until his "second coming", since he utterly failed to do so in his earthly life.
What I didn’t get from Tovia’s comments was that he was so surprised that Messiah would perform miracles. The entire verse he read was about miracles like releasing captives. What does this mean? ( heal diseases or demon possession ect..which means miracles) And also he said that Isaiah wrote that about himself. And even if it it, he was led by the spirit of God to write that excact scripture because it would have been read by Jesus years later. Also he says that psalm 22 its not any prophecy because king David wrote it for himself. In the books of Moses it says that We gave the psalms to David. So that means that psalms are messages from heaven, not just songs and poetry. I like Tovia because how calm he is when he communicate, but I really hope God open up his eyes.

I don’t understand that if Jesus really existed then why do Christians ignore the fact that Jesus was a Jew…apparently they think he practiced present day Christianity…. I don’t get it. I think when we love trully G-d even in the wrong side just because we mean it He finds the way to bring us close to Him,and day by day accept G-d of moses and follow His ways.
Nothing is hidden it’s all in your head. Back in those Ancient Jewish times, there were no book binding or printing press. Only scrolls of parchment and they were not numbered verse by verse as they are today. This was a modern invention only to help find a way around scripture. So, the book of Luke only says Jesus was handed over the scroll of Isaiah. Where those verses are found. If anything was altered it was down to the Jewish scribes who translated the text. And Jewish scribes pharisees teachers had many translations of the same scripture.

For my part, I don't buy the "70 elders" story, and I think I am correct in saying that we do not have a copy of the "original" translation, but rather a version from the 4th century CE, by which time Christianity had taken hold. In other words, we have no access to what the FIRST Greek translation looked like. Am I right? If so, it is not unreasonable to suppose that the phrase in question was added by a later copyist.

The problem is that the miracles of Yeshua can all be explained if a very advanced people visited this planet and invoked electromagnetic laws to remotely perform them. I have a really important question for you, Rabbi. I know why you do not accept New Testament, but why do you not accept the seven books which are often referred to as "deuterocanonical"? These are the books accepted as Scripture in Early Christianity and still accepted by Catholic and Orthodox Christians but later rejected by most Protestants and most Jews. These include the books: 1 and 2 Maccabees, Sirach, Tobit, Judith, Baruch, and Wisdom? Why do you not accept those books as part of Tanakh? They were written by Jews and written before the time of Jesus. These 7 books were accepted as Scripture by Alexandrian Jews in the 3rd century BC, and they were part of the Septuagint, but they were later rejected for some reason. The book of Wisdom was written by Solomon (who likewise is thought to have written Song of Solomon, Proverbs, and Ecclesiastes which you DO accept as part of Tanakh). The Books of the Maccabees, furthermore, are the historical and theological books which recount the Jewish revolt against the Seleucid Empire, which (if I understand correctly) is what is celebrated and commemorated during the Jewish festival of Hanukkah (see 1 Maccabees 4:36-4:59 and 2 Maccabees 1:18-1:36). Isn't it important to have that as part of your Scripture since it is so central to your faith? I've often wondered about this.

I have a question about the Messiah prophesized in the Jewish Bible. It is written that the Messiah will come from the lineage of David and will be a king, and considering that a high priest can only come from the lineage of Aaron; therefore, the Christians are wrong to exert that Jesus can be the Messiah/King and High Priest at the same time. But in Psalm 110 which is a prophecy about the future Messiah, the LORD swears and will not change his mind referring to the scepter of righteousness and David's Adonai which is to be the Messiah that he'll be a priest forever in the order of Melchizedek. Is it Messiah supposed to be a king-priest or not? Could kings be priests but not high priests? If what is meant in Psalm 110 is high-priest, does being a high priest in the order of Melchizedek usurp the need to be from the lineage of Aaron as perhaps Melchizedek is authoritative in a sense?
@@roxanne2749 There is a prohibition in the Torah about doing actions thats are strictly "Female" behaviors. So, for example it would be prohibited according to Jewish law for a man to wear a dress or a skirt. It used to be that only woman dealt with those types of asthetics, as plucking eyebrows, shaving in different places, but because nowadays men are also equally into doing those behaviors and it isnt strictly "female behaviors", the law is not as clear cut as it used to be, and a person would have to ask a very knowledgeable Orthodox Rabbi. If for example the man feels great discomfort from their hair, i cannot imagine that it would be prohibited. I am not a orthodox rabbi though, so I don't know the intracies and details of the rulings and laws that have to do with these matters.

Also if you look up chabad, on their page they have hebrew English tanach along with Rashi commentary, rashi is a rabbi who lived around 1000 years ago who was a master in biblical hebrew and with the oral tradition of the Torah and so his commentary is filled also with midrashic teachings that makes studying it very sweet and shows the inner beauty and workings of the torah and tanach. The book of Isaiah has 66 chapters. One for each book of the Bible. Luke is the 42nd book. When Jesus inserts a quote out of nowhere in Luke 4, it is not random. It is from the 42nd chapter of Isaiah. Have a good day.
Jesus as a messiah (healer) was trying to heal sickness (hypocrisy) of the jews. Since they were not accepting his role, he also performed miracles with the permission of the-God to prove his point.
