WHY did LEWITT make THIS?! || LEWITT PURE TUBE vs. Neumann U47

Thanks for making affordable microphones, a year ago we replaced almost all microphones with Lewitt ones, 10 440pure and 2 pure tube mics, paired with pre's from my API console an amazing combination. Please continue on the pad you're going to.

There's one constant resonance somewhere between 2k and 4k in the Lewitt (one narrow frequency jumping out) which makes you think it's way worse than u47 but it's very easy eq fix. Other than that overall character and sound is very nice

Neumann had it all the way!

Those two mics have almost nothing in common and they weren't meant to. One is a toneful character mic and the other offers a much truer representation of the sound source. It's completely apples to oranges. Personally, I'd take the Lewitt as a MUCH more useful tool compared to the 47.

@@paulquinnvoiceover8354 I agree with that. Not to mention u can buy several Lewitt mic's for the same price 😆. If you 're recording vocals on a really professional level, only then i 'd say u really need that 47. It really sounds better.

This is not the perfect A-B test, can't be done on YT it's just to inform you about a new mike that can compete with a U47 the holy grail of mikes. He is going through all the hassle of making this video for you, you can watch it for free. Of course it's YT, but you can still hear that this mike, relative to the others, sounds extremely good. Of course when you want to buy a mike like this you'll do not buy it on the merit of one YT video, you'll do some testing yourself. So really sorry that we couldn't make the perfect A-B test for you holiness for free. He could also not have made this video and you would not have known about this mike at all.

@@frankwalders I'm sorry if this somehow offended your feelings, but what you wrote sounds more like a fanboy reaction than a substantive statement. 1. I didn't write that I expect free access to the original files, did I? I believe it would still be fair if the original wav files were for patrons and a good youtube comparison for the masses... 2. What you wrote is illogical, because if you are to make a comparison, it is the one that gives the best possibilities of comparing the medium, and this was not so. If it really couldn't be done, then why make a 'comparison' at all? For advertising opportunities to access content for patrons? 3. Expecting better quality content from creators is probably quite natural, we don't have infinite time at our disposal, so it's nice if watching a video gives you more value than information about existence (although I appreciate great vocals to listen to). Otherwise, there is a feeling of wasted time and the need to look for some comparisons made better. To be clear, I like this channel because it's specific and I believe it's untainted by sales pressure. And I try to give 'like', as long as the material is not too much out of the band, because sometimes I will allow myself to disagree quite fundamentally ;) While it may seem cool that you defend every attempt at 'criticism' at all costs, like a faithful soldier, it is worth considering what it was really about. Even our sympathy should not stop us from criticizing, because we want creators to develop and make better and better content, right?

@@Piotre Thanks for the time you spend responding to my criticism on you. I said it's not possible to make a good comparison on YT, that's not so hard to understand if you know anything about audio, but you can hear relatively to each other that it's a pretty good mike. That's how far it gets. And creating for YT is not charity work, somehow you seem to have huge problem with that.

I was definitely surprised by how bright it sounds too. Nice air to it!

​@@Tephomab Very hi-fi, but i like more the U47's more natural timbre. I'm young but in real life you don't hear that high end in a voice.

@@saricubra2867 the high-end boost can be useful for rap and pop vocals... Since rap and pop artist tend to prefer the sony c800 which is a bright microphone microphone.

Lewitt answered this question on Pure Tube video on their channel. I know the 840 has the polar system so this may not actually be an upgrade from the 840.

I can guarantee it's not from the pure tube itself. Having the microphone, I could tell you it's extremely quiet. Perhaps it was the other instruments being mic'd with another microphone.

I've noticed that the pop filter from the U47 actually creates some brightness...

the better you sing the more you'll want to move to the music, it keeps you relaxed and in the flow state. Interesting observation and as a singer I see a lot of truth to that

I really try to do these mic reviews right, it's a lot of work, but I think it's fair this way.
