Why did Paul McCartney help John and Yoko get back together? 

I love this story. McCartney tells this story, and gets the irony of "You think you've lost your love Well, I saw her yesterday It's you she's thinking of And she told me what to say"

Paul did it because he loved John - fullstop. And for me this closes the case. You can think of Yoko what you want, but if Paul thought that they were good for each other, the case is closed. Apart from Yoko nobody knew and understood John better than Paul did.

Paul is amazing. Still caring about John after the contentious breakup. Paul had the woman of his dreams in Linda and I'm sure he discussed helping John with her and she liked the idea. And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make. Paul, you are the essence of love and I'm glad to have shared the earth at the same time as you.

When I hear their interviews, I feel they are genuine people who one could connect with. It doesn’t surprise me that Paul did the right thing for John.

Why? Because Paul still cared about his friends, and he could see the bigger picture. He knew John still loved Yoko, and Yoko still loved John. Paul cares enough to help his friends.

Paul is a truly strong man, who found a way to respect and love people, who someone would see as traitors.

You left out a couple of things: - When John did his show in Madison Square Garden, he actually phoned Paul to do the show with him since he wasn't used to playing live without his buddies of the Beatles by his side. (Which is also why Ringo played on "Plastic Ono band" and why George played on "Imagine") Sadly, the Wings were touring Asia and couldn't make it to be in New York on that day. - When Paul released the song "Coming up" in 1980, John apparently went "The bastard wrote something catchy again!" and promptly phoned Paul up and the two of them were talking about John coming to Liverpool, see the old gang, visit his Aunt Mimi. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be.

John should have stayed with May Pang. Yoko was having affairs all the time. She had a lover in 1974, another in '79. And moved him in the day after John's death. He saw Julian, he saw Paul. Yoko comes back and they all get dropped again. Fact.

Sometimes love won’t make sense to the other people, but for John, Yoko was his soulmate. I believe the Beatles would have reunited given that John had the same stipulations with Geffen Records. It’s amazing how new details and stories such as the follow up to abbey road album are revealed every so often that we just can’t get enough of.

Wow... I think somethings are better off unknown. If it's true that Paul & John had any chance of doing something together again in 1981 and John was killed shortly before that, then it makes me that much more sad and pissed off that it happened.

I've read so many stories about John's Lost Weekend but I NEVER knew Paul was involved!!! And I'm a HUGE Beatles fan!!! The only stories you ever hear is that John and Paul reunited for that "toot and a snore" jam session and that he reunited with Yoko at an Elton John concert

It wasn't a "May Pang affair." Yoko requested that May be with John.

But Paul chose wrongly. If Paul had supported John's relationship with May, he would have immediately found himself in New Orleans writing and performing with John (as May and John had plans to do), and it wouldn't have been long before the other Beatles joined them, and it would have been a most happy reunion. As it was, John's reluctantly going back to the ever-jealous Yoko meant she diligently kept John FAR AWAY from Paul and The Beatles. It's even reported that she directed a witch in Columbia to empower John and her creative projects BUT NOT HIS PROJECTS WITH ANYONE ELSE! Wow. That was an actual directive "BUT NOT his projects with ANYONE ELSE". She was actively asking a witch to make John's projects with anyone else FAIL!!! The other thing is that May Pang contends that she and John were very happy together, John had actually cut Yoko off and was not taking her calls, and that they were about to buy a house together in Montauk that weekend. BUT on the Friday John went to see Yoko, saying, I'll be home by dinnertime. BUT he did not come home or call all weekend, and it was Monday before May saw him. John, by several accounts looked like a man recovering from a serious illness (his speech was very slow and halting, his mind was dazed and confused) and all he could remember of the weekend was that they kept giving him drugs and he kept throwing up and then they would do it all again, over and over. And he told May that he still loved her, and Yoko said she could still be "the mistress" but that Yoko was going to be "the wife" (possibly for immigration purposes). But Yoko apparently got pregnant from that one time they had sex that weekend, and then phased May out. John still loved and missed May and would get drunk and verbally abuse Yoko in public saying, I don't want HER, I want May! I want May! I want May!

You could say Paul helped John and Yoko "Get Back" and "Come Together". *sorry I had too*

IDK...Sometimes i think that...if the beatles released an album in 1982 or something it would be weird or would have sounded disconnected when comparing it to their older records, the 80's sound alone was kinda non beatles...unless they keep the production clean or something.

You don’t know what you’re talking about? John and Yoko got back together in 1975, John had moved from Los Angeles back to New York. John was getting independent although still missing Yoko, Yoko called and told him she had a hypnotist to get John to stop smoking, whether he did or not is debatable. But that was the end of John and May Pang. Yoko called the shot. Paul made his speech to John. It was nice. But Yoko called the shots! She decided it was time for him to come back! The end of story. Every song from I’m scared to I’m losing you to jealous guy was about Yoko, i’m sorry my friends it wasnt about Paul, he liked Paul and at one time Im sure loved him.
