Why Did Streets of Rage 3 Cause Outrage !?

Gameplaywise SOR3 is actually the best. But Musics were so bad in comparison to former titles.. except few tracks. Atmosphere was weird but the game is deeper more technical. Hidden boss stage looked like a neo Geo game. Lot of special effects I've never seen on the system. Really underrated game.

Dude, were the same age and my first band we started in like '97 had songs about both sor & heavyweights. (We had no life experience so all our songs were about movies and video games.) We coulda been bros back in the day.

I always like to think so. A lot of the same people from Team Shinobi worked on Bare Knuckle/Streets of Rage.

Unfortunately, The Peace Keepers had a terrible localization, so the story was meaningless at the end of the day.

Play the Japanese version to experience it how they made it originally. They ramped up the difficulty a lot on the western version.

I didn’t have a reliable friend or sibling whenever I really wanted to play. Everyone got too frustrated and quit bc the US version was pretty ridiculously difficult

I beat SOR3 once with my sister but I got the bad ending due to taking too long in beating Y robot Mr X.

I didn't have a problem with it either. 2 will always be my favorite, but each entry had cool elements to them, I appreciated this one for all the additional fighting features, hidden characters (I could finally play Shiva) etc. Whatever the shortcomings of this entry, I will always be a fan of all the games

Exactly. But back then a lot of people weren't ready. This soundtrack suits the game's grittier near cyberpunk aesthetic.

@@wutang5795 most games of this era had minor differences but they basically tried to ruin SOR3 in the west. Don’t listen to these other people, I’ve played both a lot. The hardest difficulty on the Japanese version is easier than easy mode in SOR3. You were supposed to be able to beat the game with one credit. Also if you don’t die then you’re supposed to build up a star meter that levels up your blitz attack. Blaze’s max level blitz attack is crazy. But SOR3 is so hard you’ll probably never even figure this out.

People are dumb, sor3 has the best ost in the series and gameplay wise its miles ahead. As i tried the third game as a kid i instantly forgot other two ever existed

It was a lot of things. the censorship, the unbalanced difficulty in the western versions, the broken audio in the PAL versions , the music.... there are lots of things to criticize. Honestly, the music issue is because Koshiro was trying to get sounds out of the Mega drive that it just wasn't capable of with the sound driver they were using. An example of how the genre he was trying to imitate could sound with the right sound driver is the Adventures of Batman and Robin. That game uses a custom sound driver and the music is very similar in genre to what Koshiro was going for in SOR3. With all that said, from personal experience with SO3/BK3, the music grows on you if you play it enough. There is no doubt that the soundtrack matches the chaotic and fast paced gameplay of the game. regarding difficulty, While the western versions were too hard, BKIII was too easy. Actually, the western versions could have been even worse as well. There is a prototype of the US version that is even harder than the final version!

Adam and max was suppose to return playable that's why I bought it in the first place smh biggest disappointment in my life

Sor3 is the best out of the mega drive series, I was 9 when I got it . I had no idea about the game being censored and story changes so all of that didn't mean anything to me. I just took the game as it was. IMO tops sor2 in every way.

This was how I beat the game when it first came out. Normal was Hard in the American version

alot of the tracks are great- i think many people who say it's got bad music haven't actually heard the entirety of each game's soundtrack.

that being said- while playing the game, the Genesis cuts out layers to make room for SFX & you end up losing most of the groove haha!

If you can, find a translated version of Bare Knuckle 3, that's the best way to play the game
