Episodic Synopsis
Sushmita Banerjee is the story of a young Bengali girl who moved to Afghanistan after marrying a Pathan. Defying her parents, Sushmita eloped to her husband’s hometown only to discover that he was already married! He soon abandoned her and left for Calcutta. Sushmita tried to rebuild her life in the tiny hamlet of Afghanistan by starting a small clinic, where she treated Afghani women. However, with the rise of the Taliban, the clinic was forcefully shut down and Sushmita was punished for defying religious laws. Sushmita’s escape story unfolds as she tries to reach Calcutta despite having few allies in the foreign nation and has a death warrant issued in her name.

Her escape from Afghanistan made me feel proud of her... But learning at the end that she returned to her husband gave me all sorts of headaches. Why girl? Why???? If I was in her position I would have done everything in my power to get justice from my husband who abandoned me in Afghanistan. He took my freedom to go back to India by taking my passport. And I will never ever forgive him for his betrayal. Even if I was to save other women from there, I'll do it in India only. As a woman, I cannot be a fool to come again back there to try to save anyone else when I can't even barely save myself last time... I only got lucky.

I had this toxic relationship with guy just like this man i suffered alot for 3 years maa & paa even friends & my sister told me this isn't going to work leave him u deserve much better but i was stupid then. After sometime i broke up with him he started following me coming to house to talk it was mess i quit my job stayed home & warned him that i'll hand him over to police for physical violence he still didn't stop i called his mom & from there it was a relief i moved on.. Now living a better life with 2kids & my lovely husband Alhumdulillah. He try to contact me before marriage & even after marriage by making fake ids on insta etc but i used to block him as soon as i delivered my 1st baby i told him Please move on i've moved on now i am a mother or else my husband will deal with u & from then i was free from everything. Toxic people always try to haunt u.

But one thing i noticed is the way they used to treat patients in Afghanistan, it was so much similar to what my mother said what locals would do in her village, difference is that they would do it only when patient is confirmed to die and to fasten the dying process they would do this so that they don't feel as much pain, in the name of cleaning paap, if one wouldn't die even after that then they have too much paap. Btw I'm from bengal too, my mother from purva midnapur, and don't worry such things don't happen now, it only happened when she was small

Even if you are not doing Puja and doing good things in your life which brings even Little bit changes to others you are very close to God and FYI I'm a medical student. So what exactly is being practical hindu means??......If you are talking about clothes or lifestyle and all then this is bullshit. Because our Hinduism gets adapted to the present time and the era. Similar story with Asha Patil from Maharashtra. She met a man by name Mumtaz Khalid from Lahore online, never in person before marriage. She moved to Pakistan, converted (name changed to Ayesha) and married him. She was treated well by her husband while her in laws and extended family hated her to the core, sometimes calling her "Aljafi Kafir". Their first child died shortly after birth. Soon after, her husband stopped defending her whenever she was taunted by his family as he went into depression over the death of his child and soon died due to multiple heart attacks. She was pregnant with his second child at the time of his death. When Indian envoys offered to rehabilitate her back to India, she refused and even said on record that she considered herself "100% Pakistani" as both her husband and first child were buried there. Can love cause so much blindness? Her in laws by this point had a free reign on her and started abusing her systematically.. by the time she reached her last trimester, she had had enough and guess what, sought assistance from Indian embassy and fled back to India....

Okay, obviously sushmita is not completely innocent here XD who told her that its a great idea to run away from your entire family with a random stranger, that too to a different country? And then from there she wanted to send letters back there also? I salute her for telling her story, so that we know the terrible reality behind Taliban and the state of Afghanistan now under Taliban rule. But we also should learn from this that we have to be VERY careful when we make decisions, and not blindly follow our feelings. Granted, many girls unfortunately get kidnapped and captured when they have no option and no choice. That's a completely different issue altogether. Here, sushmita DID have the option to not move away from her country blindly out of love. And she did.

It's quite strange, miss sushmita bannerjee didn't get love from millions of available options in her own country but in an entirely different place with inhuman conditions to which she neither relates nor she can ever cope up with. What was the future she expects there, even if everything became fine at that stage. Dont we know the current state of conditions there And as if it is something won't happen, it was meant to be happen If it wasnt now, it would happen sometime later to which everyone in the world is aware of, their tyrant nature, extremist ideologies and violent behaviour are the reasons due to which this is happening and that's why they were on radar of global security agencies. She and all like should think before acting upon any plans. Being angry with someone close to, family, friends and relatives is a different thing and choosing some conman in the name of fake love and fake smiles and promises of a better future without any strong grounds of good future is a different thing How could he give happiness to her. With the situations there. Atleast she should confirm the situations there and gather true information about him before acting this way. Awareness should also be brought to all those who are going to act similarly.

Caste was never a law in our System, It was Britishers who listed our names and caste to identify who is better at job for easy selection process. African people are accepting Hinduism bigtime to get a respected life and equality, An african hindu leader said after reading Gita he felt proud as a human being and want to end racism through Hinduism. @@GAMINGBLAZE even if the britishers listed Indians in caste but they never discriminate they ill treated every Indian as same..But it was so called upper class who then n now was and is ill treating lower caste few cases are in cities that's why people think this is not present but if you go to villages you will certainly get a clear picture. Things are improving because of constitution Hinduism is certainly good but its interpreters are not

@@shwetaanand1449 I am from Village dear. My parents come from very poor family background. They had no caste based discrimination. The discrimination you see is in every community but media only shows ours. We are 1 billion Hindus living in a country. You will definitely see some problem but judging everyone with those few incidents is wrong . BTW I am seeing Rich SC/St are doing more and more discrimination. They want some kind of revenge for their ancestors which they never faced . And they don't care about poor sc st. They just don't like upper caste. Poor sc st are still poor because rich sc st don't want competition so they don't empower the poor sc st but I have seen general caste doing empowerment in poor villages with sc st population

My point is if a girl is marrying in a community where there own women don't marry out of community, that means former girl is misusing her freedom. It isn't about religion caste or language

Unfortunate that she was killed, but the killing was waiting there for her. Her own Brother in law was one amongst the perpetrators who was attempting to Kill-behead her. How could she even think that she would would be safe there after going back. It was quite a foolish decision to go back. Unfortunate but foolish and self inflicted. May her soul Rest in Peace...!

According to Afghan police, suspected Taliban terrorists forced entry into her house in Paktika on the night of 4 September 2013. They bound her husband and absconded with her. Her corpse was found early the next day on the outskirts of provincial capital Sharana. The body had 20 bullet hole marks. Police surmised she might have been targeted for various reasons. The Taliban denied involvement. Later, a spokesman for a renegade Taliban militia group announced it had killed Banerjee because they believed she was "an Indian spy".
