For years the league has complained that (even though they've never made a dime) they've never gotten bigger because sports media doesn't give them any run, the league is nothing but black lesbians, etc. Speaking from experience, when Portland got a franchise back in the early years of the league, I was excited to give it a chance. I'm a basketball fan, first and foremost. What I found was nearly unwatchable. What the W has touted for years as beautiful "fundamental" basketball, to me was a symphony of set shots, missed layups and something that resembled the boys high school game from decades earlier. Not something I'd ever invest my time and/or money into. And I know that over the years there have been the outliers; the Candace Parker's, Chamique Holdsclaw's, etc. Women who played the game closer to their male counterparts. And now you have A'ja Wilson and Arike Ogunbowale doing the same. But as a whole, the women's game lags behind the men's. So when a generational talent like CC came to the league, she brought a lot of eyeballs with her. New fans who haven't been brainwashed with the W company line for years. And the league was definitely not prepared for the scrutiny that CC brought. While I have no doubt that there is definitely a racial element and a sexual orientation element to the push back and negative attention CC has received from many corners of the league, ultimately I think it has more to do with the fact that she plays stylistically more like Steph Curry than Diana Taurasi, and that is way more appealing to Joe Six Pack than what the W has been running up the flagpole for the last quarter century. And despite all the good CC is bringing, not least of which is never before fans with money (like myself), I'm convinced the powers that be would be more than happy to try and put the CC genie back in the bottle and go back to being the underappreciated league of grievance that they've become comfortable being for many, many years.

​@@connieboling4228 I think one reason Sides wanted the ball in Mitchell's hands in recent weeks is because she's going to be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this season and Fever hopes she will choose to stay with the team. Which means they want to let her get the ball and score at well to drive up her stats and make her feel good.

@@connieboling4228 I'm from the UK and everything you have typed is spot on. Clark will never have success at Indiana with current manager/owners. Owner used team as a tax write off which says it all. If she goes to Europe there will be no ref bias but it will cost her a fortune in endorsements. I really do believe this league is corrupt in that the players/Coaches from the Elite Colleges have a huge say. Note nearly all of them were on Olympic Committee. I also believe they don't want her to be successful this season because of her not being selected for Olympics. Imagine being MVP and not deemed good enough for the Olympic Team.?

I so agree. Why would you not have Boston under the basket trying to get the rebound? Boston has shown she has a great ability to save 3pt shots by knowing where the ball will bounce, getting the rebound & making the 2pt follow up. So esp with all of the players on the floor that had a higher 3pt percentage than Boston, why would you have Boston take a 3 & prevent her from being available to rebound in hopes she can get a a 2 pter if the 3pter misses.

No way, # 1 you are ignorant of statistics. # 2 CC missed the open shots all day, and for the most part she had a at least one defender in her panties the whole time on the perimeter. So chances are of Caitlin getting off a prayer was slim. #3. It was a perfect designed play. AB had wide open makable shot, she just missed. As ANY player can. # 4 the highest potential for scoring is under the basket. By about 88.9% higher than a 3 pointer. That’s why you go inside. 🙄 You throw up a guarded desperation shot from a logo, and compare to scoring in the paint.. the percent goes up to 97 % better chance of scoring. Litttle Iowa playing college kids which 99% never ever play another game of basketball once graduated is a world from playing world class professional basketball. The difference is preposterous to compare anything. Go fever CC ROTY CS COTY ❤

All very good questions. But the most pertinent for me is the Boston 3 pointer. I haven't followed b-ball since Jordan, but presume the rules are slightly different for the W. But tactics? A lot of channels have presented Sides masterplan (although Sides credited Boston) as a legitimate tactic and tho it failed we should just move on. For me this showed a lack of understanding of the weapons Sides has and was a snub to both Clark and Mitchell. I called it a crime against basketball and stand by that statement.

And to add to that why did she not call any time outs in the entire first half?? 🤔 Dontes was hot coming right off the bench! Why keep pulling her back to the bench and keeping Smith on the floor?

That's my question. I also believe there is question about WHY the powers of the WNBA are not promoting THIER MONEY MAKER!

Sides has proved time and again that she's utterly out of her depth. Admitting that she does not INTEND (or is unable?) to design plays aiming at opening her top shooters in clutch moments, is the nail in the coffin. This very promising Fever team (Boston, Mitchell, Hull, Temi, Dantas) revealed and energized by Clark's greatness can not overcome such deficient coaching. Sides simply needs to go.

What's weird is she's got some of the best shooters in the league and she still wants the ball in the paint. Could you imagine Kerr telling kd, klay, or Steph "hey get the ball in the paint". Like what the f you on?

They just seem to be stuck in a certain way of playing and were obviously hoping to get Clark to play that way? Very strange. I wonder how Sides managed to win 13 games last season?

Sides seems to change focus game to game, such as when she thinks Boston has a good post matchup the team slows the ball down and then focuses on traditional post feeds. Seems like they could still get Boston post touches on the block but should do it out of a much faster paced transition, secondary transition or high speed motion offense rather than a more stationary slow it down approach. They also started the game off with an A Smith traditional post feed the other day and she's one of the least efficient players on the team. I'd find it hard to believe that those traditional post plays are showing up on our advanced analytics list of most effective actions.....

Her coaching ability is mind boggling!!! And yes why Dunn is still accepting of this is even worse. 😢😡🫣

Finally, I see somebody on here who is thinking exactly along the same lines as I have. I've said it over and over. They are the puppets trying to slow this juggernaut WNBA wrecking ball down as much as possible. If she was actually a head coach trying to win, she would have been fired around the 15th game of the season. If not, then she would definitely have been fired after that decision the other night. But she's not been fired because she's doing exactly what she's there for.

The refs in my opinion are a bunch of waisted space. Seriously. The defense in no way supposed to physically impede the forward movement of the offensive player. I saw a picture of the defense holding CC and an arm wrapped around her. Pathetic refs.

Lexie's 3 point percentage this year is the best in the league. It's 70%. Better than both Clark and Mitchell.

CC's signature college highlight was the inbounds pass to her n the Michigan State game with the clock approaching zero. She shot the pass from catching the inbounds from 49 feet or so and clinched victory from defeat to advance in the NCAA tourney. She's no stranger to clutch shooting.

That kind of projection then the gaslighting afterwards is pure narcissistic behavior. It also explains how sides is actually getting pleasure from making Clark fail in whatever way possible.

The entire coaching staff needs to be fired along with Dunn, they also need to get rid of Wheeler, Wallace and Smith. They need to start playing Grace Berger more and bring in someone like a Pat Riley or Phil Jackson to coach this team

Agreed. However, if Sides/Dunn continue this approach then CC should leave the Fever in 2026 when the new collective bargaining agreement occurs in 2026. I don't know who the owner of the Fever is, but he/she better get his head out of his butt and realize that his GM and coach are hurting, not helping the team and that he's going to lose his golden goose.

In one of these last 2 games Christi needs to get t'd up or ejected protecting her players or protesting calls. Boston needs to buck up in the post and throw a few bows. They call phantom calls on you so make it count. Go for a block and swipe the face since they never give Fever these calls.

This team will always lose if she don’t make Clark number 1 option. To be fair I like that so she can get fired. She is terrible.

Watch Caitlin’s highlight reels from college, where she takes the final shot against all odds. Apparently Sides hasn’t watched them. What a shame to be a phenom like CC and be tethered to a spineless, fearful, ignorant coach. Same goes the the other 4 starters. They’re all outstanding players. Minus A Smith, add Damiris Dantas. I feel so bad for all of them. They are literally anchored to mediocrity by Sides.

It's pretty apparent that CC is being kneecapped from the wnba heads, the way sides is doing her dirty and so are the refs it is blatantly obvious they are afraid to let her smoke Aja Wilson for MVP reasons and they also don't want her to break the most points by a rookie record too.

There's an Internet rumor (but I don't know how credible it is) that Sides and Dunn wanted Angel Reese, but ownership overruled and insisted on Caitlin. Probably just for the money she would bring in. They should have drafted either Cameron Brink or Kamilla and let the Sparks have Caitlin. Both Cameron and Kamilla would fit better with the Dunn/Sides obsession to "get the ball in the paint".
