I’m surprised no one has brought up the possibility that Davis was drafted to be a FB/emergency (4th string) RB. My immediate thought was that drafting him was to save a roster spot from having to keep Bawden as a full time FB while also carrying a 4th RB.
Davis will surprise everyone. He is the ultimate team player and a character guy. He finds holes and is stronger than his frame shows. He has good hands. I do not know allot about the Jets, but Davis in the 5th is a steal. He has a chance to be in the NFL for many years. He has ability to avoid big hits, but is not afraid to put it on you. I know he is FCS, but the dude can play. Making him a FB does not make sense to me.....He would need to add 15-20lbs - that would be a waste of is athleticism. However, he could be a more athletic version of CJ Ham at 240lbs. Might not be a bad thing.
I think the Allen pick was perfect. As for the Davis pick it’s kind of an either he’s a star or he doesn’t work out so it can go either way with Davis. Both runners are physical and love to bulldoze down the field so I’m excited with what each of them can provide to the team. Go Jets!!
You need two full backs and two half backs. When you run the Ball down there throats. I don't understand why most people don't get it? Brilliant. Thank you Joe D.
They drafted 2 running backs incase breece hall don’t come to a agreement on a contract extension they can say well we have ya replacement ready between the lines.
4 running backs, plan Bs, injuries, if 1 gets injured then the other speed runing back steps in, if the down hill runner gets injured, the other bruiser steps in, the jets organization got slaughtered last year for not having a crystal ball, JD will not make that mistake again. We all hope the jets have a much better year with injuries compared to last year. Thanks man, i caught the SNY content ,and they said pretty much what i just stated. And of course its been proven many times, the draft means nothing until game day.Loving the team JDs put together this year, i believe the jets organization doesnt allow and ego maniac / Divas a chance to put a jets uniform on.
Really liked the Allan pick, Davis i liked but not after getting Allan, hope im wrong bc both, i believe can contribute in different ways. I also think they may have lost a little love for Izzy since he did nothing with his little use last yr. Hope im wrong on that too. Keep rockn Richie!!
The offensive running backs on the team are not red zone short yardage or goal line runners. These are the type of backs that will improve goal line success
JD has over-drafted before in the defense. Last season, we needed JSN as a Wide receiver to help out Garrett Wilson. Instead, he and Saleh went for McDonald when we were already stacked on the defense. They could have probably gotten a big back in the UDFA. We’re now actually a bit short on a finesse real #2 WR option given that Corley’s more of a gadget receiver #3 type WR than a pure counter to Garrett. JD wasted a few picks in the past with where it appears like he and Saleh were over-thinking things. They wasted both Elijah Moore and Mecole Hardman. They never figured out how to utilize these players.
I’m actually not shocked they drafted two RB, I believe it’s a correction from last year in getting rid of MC and Z Knight then going with Cook. The older vet did not work out and it seems the Jets and other teams are doing the same thing in stacking up on Running Backs. If you look at most team’s rosters they are deep at RB. I think/Hope that the Jets are more committed to the run. I feel other teams are still gonna try to keep being pass happy but it doesn’t work in the playoffs if you have no serious run game. Ask the Dolphins 😂
joe douglas always has been either overtly or very underwhelming athis picks. He only concentrated on OL and RB positions. Like bro, give atleast one more WR weapon.
What we don't see behind the scenes is that they really like where Gipson and Brownlee are at and believe that they're already just as good as the 4th/5th round WR who were on the board. Drafting another WR would squeeze one or both of them off the team
Agree but disagree too, I liked Davis but not after Allen. Didn't like QB pick either especially after trading back like we did. Stiggers is the kind of DB I wanted us to draft, bigger body that can tackle, really hope he can turn some heads and get a chance.
@@Tryton-Jets2381 We took Allen, when we could of taken a more proven less fumble player in Audric Estime from Norte Dame. If you wanted a bruiser who doesnt fumble and can pass protect, why not take him? Oh and hes only 20 also. After Corley I was just baffled. Travis over Rattler Allen over Estime Didnt draft Breden Rice Drafting Davis.
