The last US president worth a damn, save for Trump. I pray that one day, Nixon’s legacy will reflect the ACCURATE history, because that man was completely screwed over by the media and the greedy, God-less, globalist Democrats. Oh it was dirty politics, all right - but not from Nixon. And I think Americans are starting to see the truth 🙏🏽

She was my grandmother Mary's second cousin and my family was invited to both Inaugurations in '69 and '73. I was old enough to go in '73. We were invited to the White House for a reception. Both Pat and President Nixon could not have been more gracious. They were genuinely happy and pleased to have so many of their families there. My biggest memory was being able to walk throughout the White House, unattended. I also met Mami Eisenhower at the Inaugural Ball. It was an incredible experience to be a kid and be so close to history.

Don't be fooled. When Nixon was old, and out of the arena, he seemed like a remarkably decent man. When Nixon was President of the United States, however, he bombed villages in Vietnam and he deliberately killed thousands of children and civilians. Mr. Nixon also committed remarkably serious crimes, here in the United States. Who in their right mind would ever break into a psychiatrist's office, and go through the psychiatrist's private files, in the hopes of finding some dirt on an opponent? Mr. Nixon did that. (That's just the first example of one of his 'dirty tricks". There were plenty more.) Nobody "did Nixon dirty" except for Mr. Nixon, himself. He had terrible demons whispering in his ear at night; and sadly, he could not escape those demons. Was Mr. Nixon keenly intelligent? Yes. Did he accomplish great things on the world stage? Yes, 100%. Did he also achieve some remarkable accomplishments domestically? Yes. But all of these accomplishments are overshadowed by the gravity of the crimes/felonies he committed as well as the number of civilians he bombed to death.

@dizwell
@dizwell Месяц назад
I adore Nixon, but it wasn't the third-rate burglary that did for him. It was the fact he directed the CIA to stop the FBI investigating the burglary (that's obstruction of justice). And the fact that he orchestrated the pay-offs to the burglars ("it's a lot of money, but I know where it could be gotten"), which is conspiracy to obstruct justice. Those are real crimes, for which he accepted a pardon. Do I think, in context, they were _serious_ crimes? Not really. Serious politics, sure. And serious politics that crossed a line into _technical_ criminality, in the pursuit of not losing an election. But everyone else would have done the same (JFK literally did). And no-one really got hurt, unlike (say) E Jean Carroll in more recent times.

@@dizwell Nixon didn't direct the CIA to do anything, and Mark Felt, the FBI whistleblower was also one of the planners of the entire watergate scandal. It was during the Nixon years my first realized how petty the Democrats had become and the early bias in the media. I never would’ve guessed that it would escalate to the point it is now. I think we, as Republicans may have too much compassion, and maybe too passive, believing that good will somehow prevail. There should be some kind of punishment when an entity as powerful as the media organizes a concerted effort against our very State. Our Country.

My grandfather drove bread trucks before he became a Teamsters Union Secretary Treasurer (as did my dad and brother). The story has been repeated throughout the years that my grandfather didn’t care for Nixon (and that trickled down to my dad and brother… as Union men). Grandpa delivered bread to the Nixon store. I agree with the consensus in these comments. I didn’t fall in line with the family and have been a registered Republican for most of my adult life. I tried very hard to keep that to myself when it came to my family. It wouldn’t have served any purpose to create discord within my family. I just mentioned this because there was a unique experience related to my family and Richard Nixon. He very clearly loved his wife. She was classy and withstood public scrutiny. I just need to add that Richard M. Nixon made significant contributions (despite the scandal) and would be far more superior to “let’s go Brandon” History is fickle…. Politicians aren’t noble. I’m grateful that I experienced history in the most profound way.
