Tbh at this point the full reunion of Catholic and Orthodox churches is kinda impossible; they have been developing their theology separately for centuries (especially the Catholic church) . But maybe they can be in Communion the same way the Anglican churches have ; they don't have to be on the exact same page but still be held in a communion.

We Mar Thoma Christians or St Thomas Christians of Kerala were a part of the Church of the East until they could not lend us a Bishop anymore and the church was on it's own for some time. Catholics showed up and we became a part of the Catholic Church until a schism separated us because they treated us poorly and basically imposed their culture and practices on us. The current policy of the Catholic Church is pretty good. They want us to go back to our roots. But after the centuries of destruction, I don't think that is possible.

@@nikoseufert3187 No, we don't use "Mary mother of God" in our church, but that doesn't mean we don't believe that Jesus is God or see anything wrong with using Mother of God, the church has always just preferred to use "Mary mother of Christ our God." hope that makes some sense.

We say christokos and theotokos, we ultimately say christokos, but our christokos IS THEOTOKOS, because the way we use it is to express that Holy mother Mary gave birth to Christ, who is truly God, and truly man. We avoid the term itself, but we can use it, but if you’re wondering why we avoid it, it is to avoid confusion on the hierarchy of the blessed of virgin compared to the godhead. When we say “Mother of God”, it can come off as we are saying she existed before God. We try to avoid this confusion as best as possible, so we stuck with christokos while simultaneously acknowledging the pros of theotokos, but because of this, people said we denied theotokos, even though that’s not true at all.

Good question, because we don’t believe Mar Nestorious taught Nestorianism. He actually made a book during his exile, and when we read the book, we clearly saw a misrepresentation of his views, and saw how he was preaching dyphositism, while some of his words were taken out of context, or cherry picking the “bad parts” of his christology. There’s a lot of quotes out there by him that even are a misrepresentation One of his famous quotes is “I separate the natures, but unite the worship”, we know this was taken out of context because Nestorius separation was a reference to distinction. We also know his views on denial of theotokos, was not to deny the divinity of Christ. But to not make The blessed virgin into a Goddess. I’ll even give you the quote “If any of you or any one else be simple and has a preference for the term Theotokos, then I have nothing to say against it - only do not make a Goddess of the virgin” Saint Nestorius of Constantinople (Loofs 1914, 32; cf. Sellers 1940, 172-3)” If Mar Nestorius had no issue with theotokos, as long as you don’t make her into a Goddess, why still condemn him? Either there was corruption, or there was truly a misunderstanding. We also do not believe Cyril of Alexandria is a Dyphosite, we believe he’s actually a Miaphysite, just like how Orientals believe he was a Miaphysite. This is why oriental’s will accept the council of Ephesus; but deny the council of Chalcedon. While we deny the council of Ephesus, but we ultimately accept/recognize the council of Chalcedon, since it is more in tune with dyphositism.

It's even attested to in 1 Peter 5:13, and has a verified apostolic line (Urhay/Edessa), with contributions by St. Thomas in Urmia and beyond. Western Christianity was still being persecuted while the Church of the East (though still not officially named that) was flourishing in the East.

@@calex1801 You are mixing up terms. The Church of the East is the church that formed (mostly) outside of the Roman Byzantine Empire. Today we refer to ourselves as the "Assyrian" Church of the East (but the church it's technically multi-ethnic). On the other hand, the Syriac Orthodox Church is (mostly) from the farthest eastern areas within the Roman Byzantine Empire. Both are Syriac speaking churches, just with different dialects.
