When Vincent & Gaugin were “having a blazing row, during an attack”, Vincent suddenly joined Gaugin in turning on himself? Because we should ignore Gaugin’s irascible temper and famous swordsmanship? With a sharp, cutting sword? What was it Vincent said about good thing Gaugin’s hobby wasn’t guns? Then put yourself in a position where you might cut off your own ear. Very difficult! I feel so embarrassed that I ever feel for that story! You skipped the part where Gaugin fled back to Paris, or wherever, immediately, in the middle of the night. Furthermore, now it has been proven that Vincent did not give his ear to a prostitute. Seriously, why do you people keep perpetrating this low life gossip-instead of the facts we now know and companion highly probable scenarios? I'm not saying that this is factually true or whether this is a myth but one explanation that I heard is that Van Goethe did not cut off his own ear but that he lost it because he got into a duel and that the person who he was dueling cut it off with a rapier.
