I grew up in a small Scottish mining town and started riding in 1969. My buddies and I were besotted with the US custom scene and watched every biker movie and read every American biker magazine we could get our hands on! We rode home built BSA engined chops trying to live the American dream! Years later I lived and worked in the US (WA and GA) for a couple of years, bought a Road King and did as many miles as I could riding in your beautiful country. Bought my FXSTC, got it exactly how I wanted it and being 6'3 and the wrong side of 70, it does everything I need. I'm still riding the American Dream in Scotland!! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Good question...We/I fell into Goldwings because a friend was selling a wing. Kake wanted to ride, so we purchased the wing without looking back. The way we currently ride/tour (living on the road) wings are in our souls. I currently have over 200k on my wing. I love all bikes. In 1992, I was professionally trained on an HD Electra Glide, and I loved it. I thought that I would be an HD rider for life, but...

Right now I am down to having just two motorcycles. I sold my 08 KLR and bought a 92 Evo Fatboy off Cycle Trader and of course my 2016 Indian Scout. I have come to the realization that riding asphalt is where my joy and happiness lies. Both bikes where bought at dealerships due to their price points. I love each ride for what they give to me, a big smile on my face when I fire them up and hit the road. I could go on and on about each one but you know where I'm coming from. When you catch the fever there's no cure but to feed the addiction!:) Loved the video and the never ending of getting stuck behind those slow cagers lol! Ride and stay safe ABUSA!

Bought my 2014 FZ-09 in 2014 because it is light weight, quick handling, has good mid-range torque and is bulletproof. My other big bike is a 2002 Yamaha XV1700 Roadstar Warrior performance cruiser, After adding adjustable suspension front/rear and H/C pistons, exhaust/intake, it's my relaxed distance cruiser but still capable in the twisties. Bought both bikes new and modded them for performance/comfort. The minimum ride on either is 100+ miles. Also have a Yamaha SMAX 155cc scooter for trips to the store.

I’m a new rider, I’ve only had a bike for 25 days as of writing {7/25/24} I want a cbr600rr original and I’d still like to own and ride one someday but I bought a 2004 Honda VTX 1300c and honestly I love it! My view as changed a bit and now I kinda love cruisers. Honestly I had never heard of a VTX but I bought it because it was my favorite color, red, it was made in 2004, the same year I was born, and is by Honda my favorite bike makers. and it just kind of stuck out to me and after test riding it I was in love. She gets up and goes pretty quick, but I can also lay back and relax when I want to and ride for a long time comfortably. I can carry more things because of saddlebags and carry a passenger more comfortably, It’s awesome! And if you are like how I was, and think cruisers are an old man’s bike, look into them more. sit on different ones if you can, and ride them if you can, because they probably aren’t what you think. (Sorry for the long read)

I have 2 bikes. A VStrom to do light adventure riding. It gets me to gravel roads easily, no matter the distance, and it does what I need it to do off pavement. I have a Goldwing for pretty much everything else. Touring, 2 up, and even for the twistys. I have as much fun in the twistys on these bikes to suit me . I love hearing why people ride what they do, very cool video!

I was learning to ride 9 years ago, but was injured during my time in the Navy. It damaged my left knee and it took years to develop the strength and confidence to ride again. I just started again last month with an 87 Honda Shadow. I chose it partly for the angle to be easier on my knee, but also because I always dug the cruiser style. Unfortunately my hand injury from my youth is proving to be worse than my knee injury. I can't keep the clutch held for long periods and it looks like for now this motorcycle is just to tool around on the weekends. I'm hoping to develop the hand strength needed, but I'll keep this bike as a memento to all the years I wanted to ride and was in too much pain to do, and perhaps buy a trike or an e-bike for daily riding.

Got a new subscriber! I got the following: -2023 TNT 135 - Insane miles per gallon, goofiest bike I own and it's got knobbies on it for baby off-roading! Ironically my favorite in the stable, and she gets dailied to work and back! 2.4k miles bought new. -2023 Sportster S - That 1250 Rev Max engine is faaaaaaaantastic. I wish harley put it in naked bike; or even a sports bike. I love this one, it's got the hooliganism of hypernakeds with the looks of a cruiser, more of a muscle cruiser. Unfortunately she might be going; been wanting to get that Pan America Special; i'm debating on trading her in. Same engine, different tuning and overall posture. ~6700 miles bought new! -2023 Z H2 SE - I had a superduke 1290 R EVO prior to this but totalled it. Got the z h2 for an insane price (~21000 OTD) and I wanted a hypernaked in my stable! An absolute riot; miles per giggles and never disappoints. Still gives me "this can kill me with one wrong move" vibe and you gotta respect her for that! 2.3k miles bought new! -2017 690 Enduro R - my 90/10 Off/On road bike! has enough power to get to the trails without me needing to trailer her there. Gets abused on the daily unfortunately; nature of the offroad trails i got around here. ~1293 miles (mostly highway to get to trails) bought new! -2006 R6 - a new addition to the stable, going to be my track bike. Currently getting her fixed up. bought used. (recently bought; getting fixed up; she is kind of rough) Soon: debating between the 990 RC R or another supersport for the road.

i got a 1981 yamaha xj650 from fb marketplace as my first bike about a month ago. Im learning how to ride and must admit its a wonderful first bike. I've never been into street bikes so that's why I got a cruiser. it has 35000 miles and runs. There is a small vacuum leak and causes the left exhaust to pop. but I found a hole on the exsahut tip were the baffle is so I put jb weld over it today and hopefully it fixes my issue. other than that I love the bike and its running great!

I have five bikes. My 1965 Triumph TR6 hard tail chopper that I've own for over 30 years. A 2015 XT 250 for exploring and because this is the bike that I wanted back when I was 18. A 2018 Iron 1200 because my second bike was a 1977 Sportster that I bought off the show room floor. A 2022 Heritage because my 2018 Street Glide was getting way too heavy to back out of the garage. Finally a 2023 ZX4RR just for the fun and enjoyment of blasting country roads at 70 years old.

1st bike: '94 600 Shadow. It was big enough for me as a beginner. Rode it across country and back. 10388 miles in 6 weeks. Not bad for a newbie. #2 '01 800 Suzuki Marauder The friend I ride with on vacation bought one just a few days before me. It was a little larger than the first and the price was right. Just $500 over dealer cost. They weren't selling because the Intruder (?) was out. He showed us the paperwork for what he had paid. Started pulling a trailer with this bike. The Marauder turned out to be the Datsun of cruisers. Too many problems. My friend had the same three mechanical issues as I did at almost the same mileage. This bike is growing weeds next to my garage as I would not wish it on my worst enemy. #3 a used '07 900 Vulcan. I needed a reliable bike that I could get a trailer hitch for. Many signs it had been wrecked but I bought it anyways. Turned out to be a decent bike. It's taking up space in my garage because of the next bike. #4 '14 CTX1300 Time for more power!! Bought it new March 2018 $7k for a bike that was originally $15k. Not bad. I liked the V4 style engine, shaft drive and fixed fairing. I've heard some don't like that style fairing but I took to it right away. Plenty of power for the trailer (I got lucky finding a hitch for a one year bike). Great lean angle. Someone approached me in a parking lot about that after seeing me roll in "sideways". 😉 Aaaaannnd that's where I'm at, for now.

When looking for a bike my budget is the number one factor. Then I look for what I will be using it for. I would love to by a bike from a government auction. I sold my two favourite bikes recently (09 Triumph America and 2017 Triumph Thunderbird Storm). One in June and the other in July. Left with a 2017 HD road king. I love the look of both the America, T-Bird and the Road King. Price was a factor on purchasing all three. Both triumphs were left over new ones and the road king was extremely cheap (bought it from a guy in northern Canadian near Alaska, near the end of the riding season).

Rebel 500 - First reason is retro cruiser style, absolutely non negotiable quality for me. I had just given up on a project that had drained me, so I wanted something relatively new and dependable. I could almost afford bikes like the Indian Scout or Rebel 1100, but those models were just out of reach financially. Had I gone more expensive I would've had to finance and looking back that would've been a bad decision. Had I gone cheaper I would've been stuck with older bikes that realistically might've been dependable, but I had just had a bad experience trying to repair a bike and I didn't have much confidence. I had also just come off of a crash, and needed something that made me feel at ease, which the 500 certainly does. I also swung a leg over the SCL500, the newest Shadow, and a sportster 48. Couldn't get both feet on the ground on the scrambler, I thought the wide tank of the shadow looked stupid, and I wasn't really into how the sportster felt to sit on. Finally sat on the rebel and it felt like home. Picked up a 2021 from a dealer with cash. Got lots of mods on it now thanks to not having a payment, I do my own wrenching but the rebel has given me simple tasks so far, mostly associated with my own modifications, of which there are plenty thanks to not having a payment. It's almost as simple to work on as my rebel 250 was and I'm confident we can handle pretty much anything. Only motor vehicle I own, it takes me to work everyday, grocery shopping, church, camping in north Georgia (I come from central FL) and most recently it got me to Ohio. So to summarize the why's - Style, price, riding confidence, mechanical simplicity,

98 Yamaha Royal Star. Love this bike. I had a Royal Star several years ago but on a whim I traded it in on something else (vn900) because I thought it was “cooler”. I regretted that trade so just earlier this year I bought the one I have now. Won’t be getting rid of this one any time soon! I also had a 2020 Himalayan but sold it after about a year or so. Street & dirt. Love the T-7. It's simple. Not the best for the long haul but I'm looking to upgrade the seat and see if that helps. I still get a boner over the Africa Twin and the Goldwing has been peaking my interest as of late too... But for now, I think I'll stick with the one bike I own and keep on rolling.
