@@travismcdonald6576 I am not so sure about that The shows were selling out prior to the Rock coming back Cody merch sells like crazy Stardust is the MAIN EVENT now
This feud felt like a Rock and Cody feud with special guest appearance Roman Reigns. It’s interesting to see who will they throw at Cody for the upcoming dog days of WWE in the summer. I’m assuming he may start one with the returning Sheamus. How excites would that be 🙄
WWE needs Vince Russo to be head creative or consultant for the writing team. He hit the nail on the head with WWE missing it on the 1st Raw after Mania. You can’t have a boring Raw period!
They won’t get another moment to bring out Austin the way they could of. The pop would of been absolutely insane, we would be saying it’s 1000% better then what we got
That would have changed the whole outcome for me, and it would have made absolute sense. Especially when Austin was always the one in the way of the Rock everytime. Honestly I feel they botched the ending by not having him there.
I am in my 50s now, and at this point, I just check in now and then to see what is happening in WWE. Mid 90s to about 2002 or so was must watch. Then slowly kind of faded out for me. I wonder if a lot of the older audience like me has kind of moved on, while younger generations just have a lot of different options for entertainment than we did.
I saw the whole Monday Night Wars. I am 42, and wrestling was boring for a while until the Bloodline storyline came around. Like, most of Day 1 WM40 was straight trash, IMHO. That's not to say there isn't highlights... like the tag ladder match? T'was good.
I’ve read so many stories about him not showing from him being sick, to wanting more money, to not able to perform stunners as he used to, to being loyal to McMahon, to now not wanting to be upstaged by others. I believe it’s a mix of all of the above.
If you look at the roster now they don't really have no good fueds and the potentially good ones that could be 1 of the people are already in a story that's poorly booked the best story as of now is Punk and Drew
Replaced? No. Stone Cold isnt going to destroy his character and help a guy like Cody Rhodes who has disrespected the Attitude Era in the past. Im glad he didnt come back.
The Rocks promo skills are massively diminished from what they used to be - he's not the same Rock anymore. Totally different from the AE version, even when he is a face.
When you don’t do promos night in night out for months on end in front of live crowds it’s impossible to be as sharp as he was back in the late 90s on the mic. Still better than all the other wrestlers they have now tho
He had 2 months of being on smackdown every week up until wrestelmania. He had time to prepare his promos. Hes not the same as he used to be. Accept it and move on. Stop kaking excuses. @MrJonnyl123
@@Brock-Lesnar-WWE what wrestler is as good their early 50s as they were in their 20s/30s 😂. And you comparing a handful of promos over 2 months after not being full time for 20 years to when he was on the road every night on house shoes and tv cutting promos every night in the 90s is ridiculous. Of course he’s not as sharpe as back then
The Rock had to pull his punches on the promos because he was making Seth and Cody look so bad. It's obvious those 2 guys are horrible on the mic, so the Rock just threw his hands up and went easy on them
Vince is right, the bloodline should of been pissed and been on revenge mode imo on Raw. Idk how Roman wasn't on Raw some how imo. This is no attitude era, attitude era got to the point 💯
I can't wrap my head around Vince actually praising that WrestleMania ending which was some of the stupidest shit i have ever seen with the Babyface needing 4 outside interferences to win and the roster being emasculated by celebrating a guy for doing what they repeatedly failed at. The cheering on top was Seth Rollins more preoccupied to take chair shots from Roman than with the fact he just lost the title because he wasted his time helping a guy that beat him 3 times in a row. It was a slap in the face to any fan with some sense in his mind. Glad i didn't watch Raw tonight since i can't stand Stardust and El Generico holding the 2 main titles. New Era = Same Old crap
Sami zayn at least didn’t need a “finish the story” gimmick to get over, but it hilarious that Seth help Cody win but Cody didn’t help Seth win against drew, this is why forcing a baby face make everyone else look stupid
Well WWE has been slapping fans since the past 15 plus years, so nothing new there. But it will be interesting to see how Cody Rhodes does as the champion in terms of ratings and viewership. But I do agree with a lot of what you said, the WM main event just felt like a desperate attempt to make it feel bigger than it actually was
Off subject but i think wrestling needs to reintroduce jobbers for the weekly television so the stars battling it out on PPVs will be fresh. They can work the feuds between the stars around talk segments, backstage segments, and very calculated run-ins to hype the feuds up. Plus the jobbers could do some cliche interview before their match vs. a star about how "this is my dream and the outcome won't diminish the experience, i live for this, x, y, and z" I think they Mcmahon underestimated the oversaturation effect that would eventually kick in when stars battle each other on every show and ppv, it kills the anticipation.
I think the real reason is more along the line of reasoning that Russo gave. Austin would’ve wanted to be the centre of attention and have all the spotlight on him, but obviously that was never gonna be the case since it was Cody’s moment
@@Brock-Lesnar-WWE Which is exactly why he should’ve returned. But in Austin’s mind, his ego probably couldn’t take it and that’s a shame. Him and Rock facing off one more time on the biggest stage made so much more sense than Taker returning
That tribute to Cody was so cringe & him getting teary eyed saying “ Philly … what do u wanna talk about ??” It’s gonna be a long ride folks, buckle up
Rhodes is CRINGE at his core. He literally kneeled down in the middle of the ring , rubbed his legs , raised one leg in the air and kissed the title on the ground. 😂🤦♂️ Don't believe me? Go back and watch the segment. Rhodes drops the title on floor, gets on both his knees , and leans over with his leg in the air to kiss the title 😂🤦♂️
I see people saying Austin isn’t a draw like The Rock or Cena, but that’s completely untrue. For gods sakes his shirts and merchandise are still one of the companies biggest sellers. It’s disappointing that this was his decision but I think we all know that he’ll be back at some point. Also, The Rock and Cena are not in their prime, just as Austin isn’t, but Stone Cold is still more popular than they are in the WWE universe.
One thing that frustrated me during ‘Mania, was the multiple finishers needed to finish a wrestler off… why call them “finishers” if they don’t do the job? Drew taking 100 Rollins finishers and winning but getting one from Priest and it doing the job? Makes Seth look weak… same goes for the main event… Cody took a spear/spike combo finish but kicked out… didn’t get touched again… Roman took an AA from Cena, was able to super punch Rollins, and then get up first to deliver the chair shot to Seth before losing? Cody got knocked out from a combo finisher but Roman powered through? Booking Roman as a “superhero” sucks… get back to having wrestlers be Uber athletic regular dudes… Austin (the GOAT) didn’t need 50 finishers to be beaten?? Why does Roman? Finishers have to mean something… otherwise they’re just “strong grapples”… lol P.S. Priest as champ doesn’t do it for me… Priest is on Test’s level… he got upstaged by Truth and Miz and Cena? He’s not champ material…
Got DAM you hit the nail on the head he definitely gives me Test vibes he's not going to get over as champ at all and he is also about to get jumped by judgment day his next fued is most likely going to be Finn Balor
@@mikec5663 I don't think some people understand that in a main even title match it has always been multiple finishers to defeat an opponent only time that 1 finisher usually finishes off an opponent would be on a Raw or Smackdown main event all title matches multiple finishers sells the match it leaves room for shock factor or plot twists
I have a couple of friends who have not watched wrestling in 20 years and everyone of them were drawn back to the product last few weeks because of the Rock , now he is gone they have no interest whatsoever
Rock leaving now kills the show. Cody is not the guy. Hes a crybaby. And Austin was smart to stay away if they indeed asked him to come back. Mcintyre is the only interesting character left on that show. Opening the show with HHH was typical, luckily he cant wrestle anymore. The Rock n' Cody segment was a big drawn out nothing. Awful. Nothing happened. Rock told us hes leaving and Cody cried several times. What a shame.
“Cody cried several times” 💀💀💀 if this is what the triple h era is going be then I’m good. They were doing so well building up to wrestlemania with the Rock backstage attacking Cody, and the 🩸 which was so old school to it and then they drop the ball at wrestlemania like this smh
“THIS FEELS RIGHT” - Rock wasn’t the only one holding a belt and he was catching the heat and boos… think a little deeper and the 2 Attitude Era stars in high positions that weren’t dumb with their storylines.
As a died hard stone cold steve austin fan i felt robbed honestly they set the bar so high that everyone expectations was hanging on a tread. Ppl was waiting for that glass to break honestly, the undertaker was great for that OMG moment but Austin would of gave you the oh 💩 moment i cant believe it 🐐 moment. So from my point of view a missed opportunity gave it a 9/10 rating which could of been 10/10.
Respect to Austin for protecting his legacy. The GOAT is definitely not “one of many.” You want him involved? Make it matter, make it the main focus. Maybe him and Punk at some point? I know Steve likes him and with the right program he would definitely make it happen.
My thing with Cody is like he is a nice guy, root for him, but I mean when it came to him vs Roman, Roman having that belt just seems smarter. With Cody his character sucks to me, American Nightmare & he's the complete opposite. Look at the top guys.....They were arrogant, over the top personality/very witty, didn't give a bleep, Scary or had a ton of energy in their persona(good, bad, or crazy),( Hogan red white and yellow)......Either one of those qualifies... I don't see any of those in Cody, he is a good wrestler though, but that's it, good wrestler, nice guy, can any one else think of a guy that lacked one of those things in wrestling entertainment that is.
He's not really a nice guy, either. If you watch his reality show (or whatever it was), the douche fumes coming off this guy are only rivaled by those of Gene Simmons. Or Jim Cornette.
Wwe just lost over 50% of their wrestlemania viewers. People only watched it for the rock. Now roman is gone .. that overrated cody will get boring fast
If Stephanie comes back onto TV, have her as the heel Commissioner and the on screen boss of both Adam and Nick. She doesn't need to be there every week, just appear as and when required
I'm with Vince on LONG AF entrances. But honestly, I don't even give them a pass at Wrestlemanias. Old Manias didn't need that crap! The most they needed was Steve Austin with ATV (in 2012 though, and even then that was a part of Sheriff Stone Cold gimmick from 2004) and Taker with his bike in early 2000s. Nowadays, they have so many ridiculous spots that don't even mesh with character - Bayley comes up like a fu,cking Cleopatra (without outfit to much, either), Seth has backup dancers or choirs, half the fu,cking roster come out of floor pads in middle of ring. It really started with Triple H doing all this Conan the Barbarian and Terminator shit. I would give it a pass if it was a band or an artist playing theme song for wrestlers (like Motörhead), but otherwise? No wonder Wrestlemanias need two fu,cking days now, when entrances takes longer than some of the matches. And other matches take up 40 goddamn minutes with 15 false finishers. Thanks for nothing, HBK and Taker! EDIT: McMahon drama is honestly way more entertaining than the actual show. If that family's power struggle is what you'd put in front of camera, I'd watch it every week! And maybe even the ratings would go up.
It only should be done with certain wrestlers Bayley get a pass because her theme suck so she need something to make it up, Seth was unnecessary, So was cody , drew could had used broken dream instead. I only enjoy iyo and Roman.
Shane and Stephanie fighting for control would be awesome. It has real life connections and them just ignoring the Vince thing and calling it the HHH era is very boring. But typical.
I love when people say that wrestling is fake. People have known that wrestling is fake since the 30s. My question is how can WWE fill out stadiums, with it being fake fights, and the UFC never and will never fill out stadiums even with their most popular fighters or time, with it being real fights.
I completely stopped watching all Wrestling 2013 because it was too predictable, boring & stupid as hell! So watching this video making it sounds like it's worse now then it was then! Just how bad is it?😮😂😒
It's a good thing Austin isn't here, if he were there he would have destroy his character when he help cody Stone Cold character is always "don't help and trust anybody"
Vince spoke facts the old era Cody would have definitely either been stripped or they would have restarted the match this era here is soft all you gotta do is talk about your child hood or cry and get the fans sympathy boom your in a title match i feel like the main event could have been better it was over saturated with interference so it looks more like Taker was the reason the babyface hero won opposed to the babyface here just overcoming the odds single handly as the older eras did it was too many interferences it took away from the win the only reason people are high on the win is because of the finish the story narrative they pushed for 2 years
The best Raw after WM in the last 10-15 years ever was probably back in 2013 or 2014. Before that Raw after WM before 2009 was definitely can't miss. I miss the Ruthless Aggression Era. The Attitude Era was long ago now, it ended over 23 years ago.
That’s why I said, without the rock helping, wwe falls back to average. Cody is good, but he is not a rock, or stone cold. Not sure how I feel about this new era.
I think night 2 of mania was so amazing that anything else will be hard to live up to that hype. Raw wasn’t great but it wasn’t crap either. I think the best thing for NXT talent to be showcased is to put them in rumble. I disagree that NXT is just AEW, nxt shows are hype from start to finish. I also believe that we don’t need old wrestlers from the 90s to keep coming back.
I bet stone Cold is ticked off and feels that these guys all double crossed Vince behind his back to take over the company. Even if it's better now Steve is loyal to McMahon.
Wouldve been a good idea but them dudes went back to back main events im sure they were banged up to have a match on raw i dont think nobody from night 2 had a mtach
1:13:30 Austin also have respect for The Rock they legit had a toast 10 years ago (WM 30) I’m glad he didn’t came out I didn’t even want cena to come out or taker but hey Cody can cry
the real reason might be that he wants to make him and his character the main focus of a story and does not want to be one of the several in it. Its wat russo said.
Austin was 100% right to stay away. Fans don't know what they want. Steve comes out, and suddenly it's all about Rock and Austin. Little Cody and his lame story become an afterthought.
Say what you want about vince russo he making some good points..raw after mania was a ler down and why is nxt talent going on main roster to beat a main roster talent to go back to nxt..and the crowd barely reacting
The rock can’t be in two places at once. I think it’s a conflict of interest. Hey- if I worked for Walmart- you think Walmart will be like “…oh I am excited you working for Phillip 66…” No- they want your time and energy. Same thing. There is a conflict of interest between WWE and Hollywood.
@@markfroman738 Classic. The distrubed theme didnt stick around for long if I remember correctly. Not that it was bad, but the classic is classic for a reason.
I think Jimmy uso will be drafted to Raw to keep that Jey fued going he will screw Jey in his match against Preist i believe Damien Preist or Rhea will get drafted to smackdown
Dude says he was fine with the undertaker involving himself in the match. We are at the point now old washed up wrestlers telaport to the ring and perform a finisher on a challenger with no reason to do so. Why not have Hogan telaport in and lay a punch? Hell, we can have flair and sting back, too. Without Vince and when Rock and Cena finally leave, this company will finally die.
Raw was a bore fest..nothing happened beside punk screwing drew..rock was leaving he could introduced a new family member something 45 min promo that went no where smh
Highest grossing mania of all time Raw and Smackdown biggest gates in wwe history. Over 1m merch sold breaking the all time record. Wwe RU-vid wrestlemania segments highest rated in history. Ispeed getting RKo by orton seen by over 225m people. Wwe is on fire but according to Vince and his fangirls wwe has no casual fans 😂😂😂😂
Yall are terrible. You guys think it’s trash to pull for the baby face, the good guy and it’s not . Kids DO grow up watching wwe and the product is there to uplift and have an environment for EVERYONE to be cool. Yall taking it wayyy too serious. It’s literal scripted lol. Everyone has a place, heel or face, big mouth and long entrance or not, and the fact you guys all on this thread and you both as commenters getting so bent out of shape when things deviate from what you think should happen is hilarious. There’s only so much you can do with the content lol
Vince showing why he isn't wanted anymore as a booker. That would of turned so many people off of WWE if they pulled that 1999 WCW type of silly finger poke of doom shit with the Rock saying Bloodline rules state... Vince give it up, you suck, you did not make the attitude era, the performers did all that, fuck off.
Last night, when The Rock announced his departure, my immediate response was, "Yes, it's time for me to go," just like when the Attitude Era came to an end.
DID ANYONE ELSE JUST THINK THIS WAS A COPY OF AEW IN EVERY WAY. THE PUNCHES WERE NOT CONNECTING, THE SLAPS WERE NOT CONNECTING, THE KICKS WERE NOT CONNECTING AND GUESS WHAT THE WHOLE WRESTLEMANIA WAS NOT CONNECTING. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE A BALD JOHN CENA
