It bothers me to know that this game has so much more potential. The developers who made this game are extremely talented. They really needed that extra time to make the game they wanted without corporate input.

Investors are rarely directly involved in things like this. They provide money to develop the game with an expectation to make a return. Literally every person complaining about the gaming industry blames everyone but the actual players. Not the dev’s fault that their sales say people want more of this. Not executives fault for seemingly giving the fans what they want, because as far as they’re concerned people keep coming back. It’s the fault of people who preorder games that are incomplete, and the people that will buy them without seeing any reviews of the game. I just saw a comment the other day of a dude that “just started” playing Cyberpunk 2077 because they feel like it’s finally worth trying out… but the bought the game back when it released lmao.

that and they completely took out the stow weapons mechanic where if you held down the weapon swap button you put your weapon away and could walk around unarmed which in wildlands put the civilians at ease where as in Breakpoint they get freaked out as someone with a gun in hand walks up to them asking if they know the location of various things, that feature definitely should have been kept in as it would have helped with immersion, on top of having more roaming NPCs

To be fair Wolves wear raincoats and not capes, it would make sense because of the weather on the island but not all of them needed to wear one. I does look pretty intimidating seeing cloaked figures lurking in the distance but that's not what the Wolves AI are like, they just rush you and are really dumb. Their current look would've been cooler if they acted like Hunters from The Division, being rare but dangerous enemies that stalk and hunt you in groups or even just observe you. It would've been really cool to just walk through the foggy forest, you get to a clearing and you just see a few cloaked figures looking at you from the tree line across that then just vanish into the forest. Or all of a sudden the jungle gets quiet and you get jumped by Wolves that will slowly and methodically track you down if you survive the ambush. Wolves needed to be a psychological threat and not just tougher regular enemies, they had to feel threatening and just as skilled as you but they didn't.
@devinlarson1947
@devinlarson1947 Год назад
Absolutely! They could have done a lot more with the drones too, really leaned into electronic and information warfare. If you get spotted by a drone, why dosen't it sent out an alert to near by squads? Also if they know they spotted the Ghosts, Sentinel could hang back, hold a perimeter, and wait for the Wolves to be deployed to flush them out.
@sebastianpost7237
@sebastianpost7237 Год назад
Because that would be deemed by the ‘modern western gamer’ to be “unfair” and a “bad game design” decision. Anything that remotely poses a challenge to the average player is now deemed masochistic by the wider audience, even though they’re not a core demographic that ghost recon is aimed for. They’ll be asking where the hud elements are that tell you when you’re about to be spotted by some brain-dead enemy, or the ability to see through walls to know exactly where the enemies are. The necessary requirements of survival like food, water, sleep that add an extra layer of choice and dynamics to the game will be complained about endlessly by people who never cared in the first place about the ghost recon franchise. It’s not just about business executives chasing trends in the wider gaming market, It’s also the fault of Western consumers that enable them.

I think not only time being an issue, creators were influenced by other games. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! If half the effort that was put into Recon was put into fixing and updating Wildlands, a new game could be releasing in the next 12-24 months. They went from a land populated by ordinary people going about their normal lives, working, driving here and there, dancing, going to church, playing instruments and listening to the radio to an island where there are hundreds of pointless standing patrols hiding in bushes and reciting the same old crap lines. Airplanes sitting in the most ridiculous places that only a helicopter could land in and walk away from your vehicle in open, empty territory, turn 180° and there's a f**king squad of goons standing 50 meters away! It would be funny but with what Ubisoft charged for this game I ain't laughing.

I have a working theory on breakpoint being that ubi set the bar low intentionally. It was end of last gen, had a quick development, and was a quick cash grab but they ended having to support it because the community was pissed and if they want to sell next Ghost Recon, they better keep the fanbase interested in coming back

Honestly, Ubisoft is simply doing cash grabs regardless. Why is anyone still supporting them in 2023? they haven't put care or passion into their games SINCE Wildlands. It's all been cookie cutter open world crap with practically the same layout and mechanics since Wildlands. Farcry, AC, Ghost Recon, Watchdogs... They all follow the same blueprint. I would rather see an independent developer build something new in the tactical 3rd person genre... They have a clear shot at cornering the market since Ubisoft would rather half ass everything instead of cater to their core audience. If someone new came out with a wildlands like game? They would crush it and probably dominate the market... ESPECIALLY if they allow for modding and make it with an offline mode.

If I remember correctly, when they announced Breakpoint they said they starting working on it right after Wildlands came out. I was excited that I wouldn't have to wait that long for the next Ghost Recon game as it's my favorite franchise. Well, we all know how this most recent game is and while some of it's good, you can clearly tell it wasn't ready for release. I only hope that there has been a team working on the next game since Breakpoint was released. I hope they take their time to get some of the issues fixed prior to launch. I'm ok waiting if that means I'm getting a better product. I play Breakpoint almost every day still and it's almost the only game I play. What I've learnt in the last 5 years is NEVER BUY A GAME AT LAUNCH! I brought Breakpoint for my PS4 on launch and it was a boring grinding farming mess, I only recently got back into it because I was bored with the crappy AAA games for my Series X so I brought Breakpoint since it it was on sale with ALL the DLC's included (cost less than just the season pass alone) and boy the game is totally different to the boring grind that was the launch version of Breakpoint! Btw, I've not brought a brand new AAA game in years and now wait for them to be on sale or at least a year so they can iron themselves out (if not, they was never meant to be brought)

Pretty big difference from what was originally planned and what we eventually got was heavily noticeable in Technical Alpha and full release at the very beginning. In technical alpha there was a patrol of sentinel at the beginning of the game that was searching for survivors and was not present in the final game. Technical alpha felt way more intense than what we eventually got, atleast the beginning. Same goes for several other npcs that just vanished when the game released.

Give us again the possibility to have the vehicles and helicopters delivered to the place where you are. Like it is in Ghost Recon Wildlands. So that you don't have to spawn in the bivouac every time to order a helicopter. If the counter-argument comes that it is unrealistic to order a vehicle at the place where you are at the moment. The vehicles and helicopters will also spawn to the bivouac. That is also unrealistic. If you really want it to be realistic, have the vehicles fly in from a transporter to where you are.

I was in the official Discord for a good while when much of the later decisions for Breakpoint were made. The mods of the server were actually fans of the Ghost Recon series and agreed with nearly all of the complaints put out by the community, and liked many of the suggestions that were made on how to fix it. Operation Motherland, from our perspective, included various degrees of our suggestions but never took it all far enough. The Spartan Mod and later many of the cosmetic mods that let you use the SMERSH rig as a belt for the other vests and added hoods, veils, etc. took things further upon what was commonly requested by the community, with the Spartan Mod's settings giving you a glimpse at the Ghost Recon game Breakpoint was intended to be but got muted by the execs. (The parameters in the mod that make it feel more realistic were already in the game, just mostly inactive or watered down heavily) I remember always saying it was all coming in always too little, too late. When Frontline was announced, we watch further development dwindle down to drip content and NFTs, which let us know this game was going to be abandoned.

TBH It does annoy me when people mistakenly repeat that games need more time.... how did that work out for Cyberpunk 2077? Breakpoint is a good game, it is on an island whilst Wildlands is set in Bolivia... to fill it with npc's would not make sense. Now that aside, I cannot play breakpoint any more, I am one of a tiny minority that suffers from a problem and the game launches in something like 320 x 640 resolution and when I reset it and after playing, I close the game, my desktop is in (some low res like) 320 x 640. As good as Breakpoint is, it is not comparable to wildlands, I do not know if it is the ambience, the funny DJ perico chat, the banter, the upbeat latin music or just the beautiful red, orange, green and blues that make wildlands so super enjoyable even after 6 years of doing challenges but Breakpoint never inspired me to keep playing, it was a great 100 hours but it never makes me want to reinstall it, but every day I need my fix of wildlands and that says more about the difference between the games than npc's, dlc's and missions. Breakpoint always made me feel like I was simply going through the motions whilst wildlands always makes me feel happy. 2 games 1 very similar blueprint but a few differences means Wildlands makes me want to put up with connectivity issues and still look forward to play and replay the game every day, whilst Breakpoint (a superior game) is something I would not like to play even if paid, which is a shame because, watching this video just shows how much better it is to wildlands, just not as much fun. I really miss the predator dlc and if Ubi brought out a wildlands 2 using the wildlands map I'd happily pay $100/ £80 for it because after 1000 hours I am definitely getting good value for my money :)

They just need to keep the gameplay from Breakpoint.. Add more urban terrain like Wildlands and then add tactical gameplay experience indoors like Rainbow 6 Vegas 2 had. The next game should have the same recon experience Breakpoint and Wildlands had but they should add more to the indoor structures. They need to add doors and AI on the other side of those doors. Enemies shouldn't all run out when shots are heard. Some should remain indoors and tactically move hostages or intel around etc. When we approach the building after clearing out snipers and other enemies, there should still be others inside shooting from windows and using tactical advantages forcing us to use cover fire or even shields to get closer to the building and plan a breach of the structure. We should be able to repel up and down from rooftops like RB6 Vegas 2 as well. After the surrounding area of the base is cleared, we should still have to do recon indoors or use intel gathered from other missions to know the whereabouts of the hostages, HVTs or intel etc. With a game like Doorkickers2 out on Steam now, I imagine the next Ghost Recon to be a combination of Wildlands/Breakpoint/Rb6Vegas2/Doorkickers2 because the indoor experience should be more advanced at this point. Clear the outside of the base, move in and clear out the inside then extract objectives etc.

We all know what this game needed, a creator community hub where the game had an in-game mission creator so that you could make a scenario, and pick a zone and fill in a few fields some victory conditions and then play a mission. Right there it would be 100x replayability, especially if you could do a series of them it would literally require nothing more than a few hundred kilobytes of data for the server to read the mission editor data and then put it in the game.

Just like wildlands im left feeling like its on the tip of my tongue. Its like you can see and taste that theres an absolutely fucking S tier hardcore tactical third person shooter in this game.. Just waiting to be found lol😂 like both are great games and theyve shaped both into awesome games that i genuinely enjoy but they give us a taste of what could be and if given the time and budget i feel like they could an absolutely amazing ghost recon, more weapon customization, more tactical options, more mix third and first person elemets, take some inspiration from your own past and i feel like ghost recon could make a shooter game that becomes THE third person tactical game

Yeah I think they definitely need to go back to something like that. All of the extra cutscenes and dialogue choices and breakpoint really made it feel like a story driven game rather than a third person military tactical shooter like it should. Wildlands did that really good because it had cutscenes but they were short and sweet and to the point and the game mainly focused on the actual gameplay itself rather than story cutscenes. This is definitely a must for game design in the next game

Well it's almost been 4 years since the release of Breakpoint and they haven't even made a peep about the franchise. Which honestly, I think is a really sign. Technical tests for Breakpoint started around this time in 2019, so if anything was going to release this year, we would have known about it. I'm so happy they threw Frontline in the trash. Ghost Recon fans don't want that. I truly hope they are working on something special. I remember when they announced Wildlands, I was so blown away. I have been playing Ghost Recon since 2001. So when I heard about the release of Wildlands I was ecstatic. I need this next release to hit me just like that. I've had a lot of fun with Breakpoint, but it's true, the developers HAD to have just been rushed to push out another title. I am pretty sure Ubisoft has learned its lesson, you can see it with the time they have been taking with all their titles.

I am new to Ghost Recon - on PS4 I started Wildlands a month ago, I'm off work right now - I played religiously almost every day several hours - I just loved it - mind you, I played on arcade, I'm not very good at these shooters - but man I sure as hell learned to drive the motorbike expertly, I fly the plane pretty good, can land when there's not too many SAM"s lol - and even landed on the island and landed on the mountain top airstrip geez. *The game just sucks you in.* Draws you in. You want to engage in it. The world is so beautiful - I've seen some PS5 clips but even in PS4 it's amazing. I completed every single story mission, including Sam Fisher (damn you! F.O.B. Vibora!) and Archangel/Caveira and Silent Spade damn you Kozak! and Walker/Oracle. After some intense missions (I hated the "do the ____ UNDETECTED" ones oh f*ck off!) like that Truck Depot one to get the photos and the Truck switch one etc, I'd decompress just farting around the map doing convoy hijacks and rebel radio's and network stations (use shotgun! mines outside the doorways! Blow them all- dudes inside get all confused! Flank with rebels/squad at other entrances!) until it got tired - then I'd pick up the next story mission etc. I've medic drone'd, explosive drone'd, emp drone'd - I've maxed out my rebel skills and cool downs on the main game... now I'm starting Fallen Ghosts. I bought Peruvian Connection, did the five missions, you get a new sniper rifle at the end, why not, a few of the mountain ones were interesting... I did it! Might even do Narco Road... Maybe I don't know... *maybe* kudos to these amazing developers and now I cannot wait to get into Breakpoint. I've played Fallout 76, so some survival game elements eg gather parts is interesting - thank god too you can now carry bodies. What's damn incredible - *how much faster the Ubisoft Paris et al teams can churn out this spectacular content* - so yes while you draw the comparison to Wildlands having five years, obviously game development with better computer hardware etc is already so much significantly better nowadays. There's ways to even take google maps data and easily port it for gaming purposes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ltSRKdJOw_w.html even for the indie developer now!!! Amazing!!! While you can say, shit - too bad they only had two years, it fell short, just as easily you can say - dang! they did this in two years? that's fly! Like, your idea for the neighboring island - it wouldn't take them long to do it nowaday's - I mean, the Fallen Ghost's DLC already has significantly improved NPC A.I. from even the regular unidad - you take cover more and run around more etc - they find dead bodies lol - they are not like the dumb stormtroopers in the Star Wars movies, like the original campaign... I know the Wildlands game is not perfect - dammit *how may times in Villa Verde I jump down a rock crevasse I cannot climb out of;* some of the climbs that cannot be done - like Nomad, ya got bad knees? lol. Same if you get caught up in burning wreckage - you sometimes cannot extricate. The whole game though is just fun as shit. The mine tunnels. Underground lairs. Have you been to the Secret Cocaine Hideout? The underwater/underground grotto in Ocoro near Sirena Island??? OMG this game! One surprise after another! It's a bird it's a plane now we're on a boat now we're base jumping and swimming. I grew up in the eighties - I'm used to an "arcade" take on things - the car convoy pileups put GTA et al to shame - it's all so much fun... or like the Network Antenna ones - when you have to race into the #2 antenna that's *right inside a cartel outpost* serious ROFL I see in comments people saying like for a MILSIM experience go switch to Arma 3 - while it's impressive, the clunky graphics takes me out... there's really something with the Ghost Recon 3d tactical style that resonates with me - your video here actually really demonstrates it so well. Using the camera to your advantage. Helping you plan. Come on you are facing an entire army. So you can look a bit around corners. It's like you'd hear their footsteps anyway. The first person mod does not interest me one bit, kudos to those guys, it's great for those who want it - really, the game though is not built for first person - a game like Fallout 76 has it with proper spacing of interiors and props etc that you can do both - but not Wildlands. Not Ghost Recon. The biome's is what sells this franchise - I think it would be terrific if they did Africa - some sort of coup in a country tie it in to Blood Diamonds/Gold etc or gun running etc. Nigeria's oil reserves, the destabilization we see in Somalia etc - even now the crisis in Sudan - you see the tv news footage and it's burnt out jeeps in city roadsides in the desert - so again you have urban combat... it sounds corny as f*ck but I actually learned a bit about Bolivia and developed an appreciation - I knew a bit about Che Guevara I think he died there right after Cuba... I remember Nicaragua and El Salvador during the eighties - these Latin American countries with their coups are fascinating for sure... Venezuela... Fallout '76 was another game that got soooo shit on when it launched, only to be patched and patched and the following now is bigger than ever... it's happening now with Breakpoint. Funnily enough, when I went to meet the Chemical Expert in main Wildlands game at Libertad chemical institute, it was *empty* - no class of students wtf it was a ghost town. I get that vibe from the Skyfall Bond movie when they go to that island with the abandoned, ruined city - a firefight is a firefight - some villager NPC's sure but not a dealbreaker... agronomic center was empty too - why the ammo caches there??? maybe for Fallen Ghosts? a cancelled mission? More than NPC's I'd venture maybe the world in Breakpoint feels a bit one dimensional, a bit too "rinse-and-repeat" - Fallen Ghosts is a template for Breakpoint, you can see that now - it's all in the jungle, it's rainy, these "special merc's" who give you a run for your money... Wildlands can be hilarious - like when you drive for a convoy hijack and you pass from jungle to semi desert - or when you fly a plane ten km when you side mission and steal an airplane or helo. It's been straying from that *diversity* "Big open diverse world" is probably the most important factor - and maybe give us four seasons!! As applicable!!

I just got the full game but I have played the beta and after that but it’s way better now and I like it. But is of course stuff I’d like to be in it. I’m not so much into the future stuff. I like the sneaking it should be nice if you can do more or shoes CQC’s style. Like do CQC in Splinter Cell from cover so the bode is hidden. I miss that you can roll when you’re laying down to the side. They need to do better when you carry a body it’s so slow. Should be nice if the ad that you can drag body’s and teammates. Drag your friend, the handle from the best, and can use the pistol while dragging and your friend can use his rifle to cover. Dis game is better game play then Wildlands, I have not even finish the game, but I’m in town to do it on Breakpoint. Oh yeah, should be cool if the ad like ropes, you can climb or from a rope to your friend and be able to boost your friend up a higher wall and they can reach the hand to get you up. I like more team work like that in games.

5:05 gotta be very honest. I don't think at all this was the biggest fall point of breakpoint. Game had such potential. But the main story is literally 10 missions...We defo needed customization to our kit, and our platecarriers, a lot more breach and clear, and a lot more pre-planning to the eventual raids you'd make on various enemy installations.

Honestly the mini-boss Wolves are just wasted in the game, they add nothing really, only Silverback and Flycatcher have unique weapon drops, and Yellowleg especially is just blown off in a random mission with no second thought. The whole story tbh feels very disjointed after the first act, things just kind of happen and the flow is really off. Still an awesome game no doubt, loved the DLC packs too.

Wtf you mean cut back gunsmith and character customization? Breakpoint drastically improved on those aspects. As far as the world goes I don’t mind not having civilians going around everywhere, I don’t think it makes sense for random skell employees to be roaming around. That said it should have made more room for the Outcasts doing outcast things and the homesteaders maybe out doing recon and supply runs rather than just camping like we see. I was also able to find one of the concept artists for BP on Artstation and looked at the og Sentinel designs... they actually look like an organized PMC. I do actually really kinda like some of the style from the wolves namely their helmets and chest rigs, the arm tac pads are also pretty cool but yeah the capes should not have made it past any stages except maybe for a cloaker unit
