Why do the anti's do it? Prominent LDS Critics are following a business model that hinges on intentionally causing a faith crisis or cultivating contempt for the Church, by telling members the Church has been lying to them all along. But why would critics try to do that? Because the deeper the faith crisis, and the more contempt they feel for the Church, the more likely they are to 1) donate to their cause 2) watch more of their videos 3) buy expensive coaching services from them 4) attend their conferences and seminars - for a fee, and 5) buy their products. Their business model is like a doctor intentionally infecting their patient with a disease, so they can make money treating them. It is simply a scam to increase their revenue.

We can hear the leadership of the Mormon church lying in real time. You’ve been well trained in gaslighting, and that highlights the exact thing the Mormon church does with its critics: it attacks their character and intentions, which is a very underhanded tactic intended to convince non-discerning people (which almost all members are). Ad hominem attack, is what it called, in case you were unaware, and it’s an incredibly poor argument.

I noticed that in your video, you chose to include soft piano music in the background. I found this choice intriguing and wanted to share some thoughts. The serene, reflective tones you used are very reminiscent of the music often played during a pastor's closing sermon or while praying. From many conversations I've had, I know that believing Mormons might view a pastor's use of such music with skepticism, questioning the intent behind it. Is it a tool to manipulate emotions, to enhance the perceived spiritual impact of the message? This skepticism is understandable and merits reflection. I wonder if there are similar themes at play here. While your aim might be to create an atmosphere conducive to thoughtful engagement, it's important to consider how this choice might be perceived. Using music to shape emotional experience can be powerful, but it can also raise questions about intent. It's crucial to remain mindful of its potential to influence perception and to use it responsibly. This invites a broader discussion on the role of sensory elements in conveying messages and the ethics surrounding their use.

Every one of them thinks that they have the "Silver Bullet" that once revealed and expounded on, will burn it all down. The ex Members seem to be full of a venom and a hatred that others don't have. They may try to explain it, but I think there are underlying personal problems that drive them to do what they do. Social media probably has a lot to do with it because of the personal attention and notoriety.

As you read Acts chapter 7 and the description of the moment Stephen looks up into the heavens. I caught something very interesting one time and I still think it's there. Luke is making commentary in verse 55 and it is a theatrical commentary at that. In verse 56 it is the quote from Stephen himself. No Theatrical commentary just matter of fact. And remember Luke is hearing this story from Paul who was actually there. At least I don't think Luke is in the picture until after Stephens death is what I would understand

My experience is that most ex-Mormons feel extremely betrayed when they find out the truth and instead of drawing close to God for comfort and understanding they lash out in anger. I prayed that God would show me the truth of everything in my life no matter the discomfort that I felt and He was faithful and the beautiful deception that I believed was revealed. Anti’s also are incorrect for attacking when instead we all should be loving and showing Gods love to all. If you truly desire the truth then I plead with you to challenge your own beliefs and search out to verify what you believe in other areas than just church approved material. It is my prayer that all of you turn to Christ and find His gospel is sufficient to save you and bring you into eternity. “If we have the truth, it cannot be harmed by investigation. If we have not the truth, it ought to be harmed.”PRESIDENT J. REUBEN CLARK. I encourage you to read the CES letters and do some research before as an active Mormon you proclaim you are the “One true Church” Your salvation is the most important thing in eternity and you owe it to yourself to seek God and the answers instead of just believing what you are told.

If you have the truth why worry about what others are saying. However, I have yet to have a member of the LDS church provide a valid reason for accepting their claim as “The Source” of truth. It is all based on circular reasoning or other fallacious thinking. Those assertions will bring correction from the church as a whole. Did not Paul call out those with false theology? I do agree, this should be done in an appropriate manner, but pointing out false doctrine is not being judgmental.
@jordan-xe2yb
@jordan-xe2yb 5 месяцев назад
The godhead is the source of truth. We don’t claim to be the source. We claim the Lord restored the truth and priesthood authority through Joseph Smith Jr. How is that circular or confusing?
@PrairieChristianOutreach
@PrairieChristianOutreach 5 месяцев назад
@@jordan-xe2yb A circular reasoning fallacy consists of an argument that starts with a premise (A) and moves to a conclusion (B), where A is logically equivalent to B either explicitly or implicitly. In other words, both the premise and conclusion rely on the other’s truthfulness. Premise A - Joseph Smith has the truth. Premise B - Joseph Smith is the source of this truth claim. That is circular. Now granted these claims can be made for many faiths, however orthodox Christianity is rooted in the reality of Christ’s death and resurrection. The apostles were witness to this event and testified of it. JS does not have that witness or historical support. I believe LDS members are brothers in Christ, but the claim of having “the truth” is not supported. Only the orthodox Bible has support from the living Messiah. Blessings.

@@wendellsurpr4987 In other words, you are not able to provide any sound or reasonable explanation for your claim: "BOM is fiction." That is your claim you made. Not mine. In fact, you stated that when Joseph Smith claimed the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ to be true - you stated: "You opened a prove it attitude." Well, so far, I have asked you to prove your statement true. You opened yourself up to the very same "prove it attitude" and now are not doing anything to prove your claim true, accurate or valid. It does not matter if you were a member for 57 years. Does not matter if you are a "Generation Mormon". It does not cut it at all. Now, are you going to prove your statement true that the Book of Mormon is fiction and false? If it is fiction and false, on what premise and authority? What is your evidence? What sound and reasonable explanation do you offer that has led you to conclude that the Book of Mormon is fiction and false? Remember, your very own comment opened you up to a "prove it attitude" now it is time to step up to the plate, act like you have some intellectual balls and prove your assertion true - otherwise, you are a pissant apostate who is completely devoid of any intellectual integrity and are most likely deceived by Anti-Mormon rhetoric, lies, and deceptions. I work with disaffected saints. Our weak apologetic is responsible for much of the hurt and harm caused by the institution upon the congregation. Consider: the Gospel Topics Essays have driven more members away than the infamous CES Letter. The common emotion experienced is betrayal-our membership feels betrayed. The institution and our apologetics have routinely “lied for the Lord.” It’s unfortunate, and takes a lot of patience and love and good teaching, to bring folks back. I’m upset that with all our resources of wealth and talent, we are unable to teach sound principles-instead, we focus on propositional belief systems, which have no bearing on faith. We are responsible for the mass exodus from the Church-not the antis, exmos, or the secular world. The shepherds have for too long scattered and starved the flock, our teachings have become self-helpy, ideological, and lacking depth. It is frustrating to realize that our institutional teachings are impotent in the face of inquiry, investigation, and persuasion. It’s time we take responsibility-that we behave as Our Brothers’ Keepers. Aloha
@TimothyBerman
@TimothyBerman 8 месяцев назад
@TO-Aloha - I guess it depends on personal experiences. I have seen a lot of people leave the Church because of weak faith and testimony. When I left the Church, it was not because of any doctrinal issue or personal sin. It was due to disagreement over something specific with local leadership. I adopted Reformed Theology within a couple of years and was very antagonistic against the Church, however, the more I actually delve into researching and studying, I began to see many of the criticisms and claims of the Counter-cult Ministries falling short, utilizing deceptive tactics, and weak arguments. In short, many Evangelical Christians (and even today) do more lying for the Lord in their attempts to preach the gospel. After 15 some years, I ended up coming back to the Church because I found many of the so called "lies and deceptions" many apostates claiming today were not lies or deceptions. People forget that prior to the Internet, there was no real way to verify much of the information. Now, with the internet, said information is easily available. So, I question your statement and question anyone who claims the Church lied to them.

@jake882 you stated: "I also wonder why the church lies and deceives and requires tithing for salvation?" My response: Where and when has the LDS Faith lied and deceived people? What is the sound and reasonable empirical evidence? As for tithing - it is not actually as "mandatory" and "required" as many of our apostates and critics think. However, consider this - how much money goes to local pastors? Specifically, local "celebrity" Pastors with large congregations (e.g., multi-Church sites and mega churches to name a few). Are you also aware that local evangelical and protestant churches are under authority of a larger Christian group and those individual churches are required to "pay tribute" to the larger organizations? I mean, one can make the claim that Evangelical Christians pay a "Christian membership Fee" for their pastor's salary, administrative office personnel, and even congregants are being guilt trip into paying tribute to send a family on a "God called me to Gahna Mission" or help pay off the debt. How about Guest pastors and speakers - where do you think that "Godly Christian Contribution" goes to? You stated: "But that's in itself is why we try so hard to help people see through the churches cult behaviors" My response: How about seeing through the cultic attitude and behavior of many of our critics and apostates who rely on same old lame brain criticisms and arguments from their favorite counter-cult ministry groups - because such individuals typically buy into those lies and deceptions without utilizing any actual critical thinking skills. Any Christian is happy to pay their duly noted Christian support membership fee to the latest book, speaker engagement, and ministry to "convince dem Mormon's They need Jesus". How much have you spent on such ministries and book purchases? I am sure God would have wanted you to do something better with your time and money and not buy the peddling lies of those critics. You stated: " There is no way the lds church is true." My response: And there is no way you are speaking any sense of truth or making any sound or reasonable claims. You stated: "I hope more people can help try to back this up." My response: Most critics can't back up any of their claims when those claims are exposed for what they are - lies, deceptions, false information, and manipulation of teachings. Do you have the intellectual acuity to back up any of your claims that the LDS Faith is not true? Shall we put it to the test to see if it stands on sound and reasonable investigation?
