Why do auto repair shop owners succeed? 

My auto shop is almost a year now, this video changed my beliefs, thanks a lot

First u need money or a credit line, second experience & knowledge, Third how to manage your cash flow & The Most Import a Great Location with Plenty of Traffic so u do not have to struggle to find customers. Low Overhead means more cash flow.

Want some better advice? Run a better shop than anyone else does in your area. If you think about it anything from an app, supermarket, musician that is successful is because they are better than the rest. Why is metallIca the biggest metal band? Because they are better than the rest. Why is pandora a top music app? Because they are better then the rest. Why is some independent shop in your area so successful because they are better then the rest. If you want long term success you must run an honest high quality shop. Every shop can work on a Chevy cobalt but when a 7 series bmw comes in most shops send the vehicle somewhere else because they don’t have the equipment and don’t have a good enough technician to do the work. You should be able to work on 99% of vehicles that come in the shop. You shouldn’t be sending a 2009 Silverado to the dealer because you can’t program a pcm. If you are running an everyday basic shop then you will generally always have car count problems. I’ve seen so many shops have no cars in their parking lot because they are not set up to do most any repairs. Many owners and/or managers will argue that they don’t get deeply involved in diagnostics, engine repairs because they make more money doing front end work and brakes. Well what they don’t understand is when you send a customer to a different shop because you can’t do a timing chain in a 2009 Audi you are sending that customer to a higher quality shop and potentially loosing a life long customer. The reason my shop has never used 1 penny for advertising and marketing is because the shops in my area donthe advertising for us. When a shop can’t do a job for a customer they are then recommended to me and I generally keep those customers. Most shops have short term goals and do not think long term. Your better off spending the money for equipment and paying top dollar for the best technicians possible. Shops don’t realize that the 500 bucks more a week you pay for a very good tech will make you thousands more per week than your average guy making 20-25 and keep your customers coming back because you don’t send customers away because you can’t fix something. Now you don’t need every tech you have to be a super start but you need to have atleast one amazing tech depending on the size of your shop and what your shop needs. Nowadays it has become easier for independent shops to be super successful even if you don’t have a great location because it’s hard to find a shop that can really do it all. Everything is super computerized and many shops are trying to run their shops like it’s still 1999 when there were only 3 computers in each car. Now it’s very common to have well over 20 computers in a vehicle. Sure there is a lot more that goes into running a shop but without having a high quality standard it will be much harder to cut through the rest of the shops in your area. Doing 14.99 oil changes is going to attract the bottom feeder customers that are only there because they are cheap.

If you don't already know this just stop. Save your time and money. 9 minutes wasted.

So they must first learn how to put thier failures from the past, back in the past where they belong, to then have the space in their present to rewrite a different, successful future for themselves, their business and their life

His speech is actually for everything we do. If we don't believe something then we wont do it as hard as if we believe in it.

This guys speech revolves around belief. the problem with that is you cannot simply start believing in something and honestly believing it if you think that it’s not gonna work

It's true that you can self sabotage. But this idea that YOU BELIEVE and suddenly there's customers coming from interstate and outerspace...... you have to ACTUALLY HAVE THE PEOPLE and the failing cars to HAVE THE POTENTIAL to start with. THEN...... you have a chance.

What he is saying is absolutely true...those who don't realize that and have excuses for everything will not succeed. Do the non-believers not know what a "self fulfilling prophecy" means? Take some time and look that up. No excuses! It's really simple...If you say you can't, you can't...If you day you can you will....effort!!

I think he is Wright about believing, But in business there is a lots of factors that without the knowledge of it everybody is going to come out looser, Specially auto repair business.

I share shop with mechanic and his partner. mechanic is crook and very lazy and most jobs comeback. his partner overcharges and has multiple small businesses. mechanics are known bad guys on down low
