I drive to work every day work for 9hrs I go home and can't remember where the day has gone. I am conscious but not aware that life is passing by sometimes. It's good just to take a moment and remind yourself of the here and now . I hope that makes sense.
What if he brought the bad things upon other people would you still want to listen to him? He already admitted to leaving his wife God knows that brought a lot of pain to his wife not him. Not so sweet now is he? And it wasn’t because she was bad to him he just had a spiritual awakening to leave her and cause pain! He seems very sweet but narcissistic!
I don't believe John talks nonsense. He is simply sharing his opinion. To not agree with his opinion does not mean it is nonsense (even if it does not make sense to you.) I think he is wise and poetic.
levels of conciousness have absolutely nothing to do with the question. I'm not complaining though, i'd listen to this man talk about the pythagorean theorem and i'd be satisfied
He's sweet but being wise and poetic does not change the fact that he has not replied anything intelligible. Even I can be wise and poetic by saying deep random things while someone just asked a simple, straight forward question.
Like training under a Zen master. It's not about answering your question, but leading you to a thought process. So you can experience your own realization.
I usually hate when mics pick up every little mouth sound but this is an exception. This really helps to calm the mind because his voice is so soothing.
Honestly, this is the softest and gentlest voice I have ever heard in my life! I’m already feeling relaxed and as if I’m about to fall right asleep after hearing mere moments of this man’s voice! Amazing! It doesn’t even matter WHAT the discussion is; the voice suffices every time!
John is a pure man. His voice is so calming and he talks so in depth about things. One time I fell asleep hearing his voice(I wish he was my grandpa so he could read me stories).
It appears, as life advances us into later years, we all collect our own unique life lessons. However, many are not as willing to share? Or haven't the ability to articulate their own past experiences into words? So much remains unspoken. Thanks to Phil & John for preserving these masterful expressions of one's experiences. These uploads are precious to us and for generations to come. Warm regards, Joan
Totally agree. My grandparents left their country with the clothes on their backs n took long overcrowded boat ride to America. The settled on East coast, but ultimately resided in Utah. There must be so much that they had experienced thru all of that travel. Sadly, they neither documented ( journals) nor did they share their stories verbally. Now done and dusted now. They've passed and took all with them. Phil and John THANK YOU. Brilliant content (and your hard work is noted). God bless🙏
After listening to this a few times, I've answered the question in my own way. It's not that bad things happen to good people. It's that all things happen to all people. Life has no preference. Depends on your perspective.
Thank you both for bringing moments of clarity and peace to this old man.John,You are like a real Santa to me.Always offering us wonderful free PRESENTS of PRESENCE.God knows we need these moments of REALITY.and BALANCE. Cheers and God bless the work.Have a nice day folks, Robert Parker
Even though people say i am dumb, ugly, nasty, i believe that my soul is good, i think i was born in the wrong society ! Loneliness is painful but less than talking to my peers, actually !
Bad things happen to good people just as bad things happen to bad people. Matthew 5:45, “he sends the sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends the rain on the righteous and unrighteous.” And you can interpret rain as a gloomy day, or as life giving water that sustains, it’s up to you. Good people are able to see situations from a higher view, the light of God keeps them strong, and God never changes. Even in the darkest times, cancer, unemployment, or just a traffic jam, good people keep their view of God and he strengthens them through those tough times. Being good doesn’t entitle you to a trouble free life, life is life and it happens the same to all, we are in a fallen state after all. Jesus himself was nailed to a cross, that was more than just a little unfair don’t you think? But good people have hope, they see the light, and they know bad things will end, whereas someone not connected to God may only see hopelessness. Good people can see bad things happen and it can get them down or it can strengthen them to improve their own life and that of others. In such a case the world is full of an unending supply of fuel to push you forward as there is darkness wherever you look. Use it to build the good inside you.
This is very insightful. It's like in a classroom. The teacher gives the same test to everybody, and a "smart" kid doesn't get the grade they expected. It doesn't mean the teacher doesn't like you it just means you should study harder next time. Because there will always be another test.
Samantha Donmoyer not in the goodness of the world but in the goodness of God. People are people, but only God is perfect. People can hurt you, but God will pull you through it. People cause harm but God provides healing. When people do bad things God carries you through it. It’s said the very yearning for goodness and God is already the Holy Spirit working inside you. For a bible reference see the book of Job, a man who was innocent but whom terrible things happened to. In the end God restored more than he took away. It’s said all things happen for good to those that follow Christ. John Chrysostom, the archbishop of Constantinople who was exiled and died in the desert, his last words were “Glory be to God for all things”.
Samantha Donmoyer this video sums it up pretty well as the book itself can be a bit heavy and hard to get at times. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-GswSg2ohqmA.html
Why do bad things happen to good people? I always saw it as being able to answer with one thing; what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger I see good people suffer, but it gives them wisdom, strength, it gives them exactly what they need to keep going, and it’s lovely, but for the bad, they suffer, and it may not be for the same reason, but it has a similar effect
Best thing about this guy is how when listening to his soothing voice for comfort you start paying attention to what he’s saying and the seed of mindfulness begins to sprout in your psyche.
I just want to thank John Butler for his talks on spiritual matters. He/John has soothed me to sleep on countless of times. Plus he has given me a lot to consider. Thank-you John, and God bless your service in the Lord
stumbled across these videos for the first time today. these are some of those questions in life, worth asking but next to impossible to find the answer to. never stop asking :) as long as you search, you will find. I'm extremely thankful to have stumbled apon these videos. thank you.
Even amongst the wise and learned, a fundamental misunderstanding weaves it's way through. When we talk of Oneness, the Absolute, Unity, we talk of destroying the illusion of separation. Having got 'there', all too quickly we are inclined to revert to type and fall back into the individual self we have just said is an illusion! From the top of the mountain and the glorious realisation of the Absolute, the gravity of Earth pulls us back into the 'common world we are familiar with' and we once again begin to talk about the view 'up there' at the top of the mountain! We have reinstated our separateness! Then the difficult questions show up again, "why do bad things happen to good people?", along with all the other questions and challenges of the common world at large. The Crucifixion of Christ has been the greatest message to the world's inhabitants. YOU ARE ETERNAL. The extra messages of compassion and love towards the suffering and those who appear "evil" or "just bad" are pointers and signposts towards the way back to YOURSELF. BACK TO WHO YOU TRULY ARE. THE ABSOLUTE. Not a separate individual. THE ABSOLUTE. Only when we "get out of our own head and thoughts" can we reveal this. It's a perfect Creation with a perfect flow and makes perfect sense. It is through suffering that revelation occurs. John is absolutely correct on this. Fear not and All will be revealed unto you.
John saved my life many years ago. I began watching his videos and began healing. I thought my stupidity ruined my life. I waa naive and now understand life can continue. I thought everyone was kind natured, thus trusted every person that came into my life. I could not perceive there were people who could or would lie. But I lied. I lied to myself everyday ignoring the truth and convincing myself that being good means we matter. To me, we were all trying to be good so one day we could matter to God. Lol. I thought every person was exact same. I learnt we already matter and most people already know that. I was a mess who needed Johns message very badly and I guess I needed it again today. Thank you.
I love his words about water. Going often to get water at a source from the 16th century dedicated to St. Anna I feel the tremendous pure energy when filling my bottles. In the midst of a forest still today next to a small church where they say St. Anna did manifest. Once I had a finger crushed, skin was gone. After I had the water flowing over my hand one could not see a trace of the wound anymore. Also when you do put the water on the body it never does get warm - does stay fresh and pure for hours.
Just a thought. I recently learned that in some native spirituality, as in some Buddhist philosophy, they believe there are two universe's one spiritual and one material. The spiritual universe has perfect knowledge but little power to act, the material universe has limited knowledge but full capacity to act. The spiritual universe can guide us if we tune into it through spiritual practices, but it can't physically change anything. Thus it is up to us to make the changes to our exsistance, guided by higher consciousness. Would explain why awful things happen but god does not intervene. Just thought it was an interesting perspective. Love and Peace
Sounds like Gnosticism too; one god they called the Demiurge, and another god of "uncreatedness"/spirit/true light. That the spirit is trapped in humans as they said humans were composed of flesh , soul and spirit, and a spiritual life would liberate us from our created/material selves. Apparently angels, archangels/archons are all the Demiurge's workers and so we live in a duality of false light and darkness, which the New (c)Age movement/business is all about...
@@annacsillag7247 Yes, I have become aware of gnostic teachings. Personally, not sure I'm totally convinced about this demiurge teaching. The world is said to be imperfect and created by this devilish character. For me, I feel closest to the divine when alone in nature. I don't think anything is inherently bad, it's more to do with our limited perception. Love and Peace
@@anthonyhudson3540 I'm not convinced either but studying it all the same on occasion as it is an odd idea and reframes certain more accepted ideas , making it an interesting process to know more about
@@annacsillag7247 Yes, it's all Fascinating. The only true incident of '"enlightenment" I ever had was a time a few years ago, I was walking down the local high street and for some reason everything came into focus. I had this overwhelming feeling of bliss and connectedness. The funny thing was, amongst all of this, the overwhelming memory I have was suddenly I did not care about all these theories abou god and good and evil and all the rest of it. I just had this deep certainty that everything was ok, there was me need to worry or be concerned about anything. I must have been caught truly in the moment. Love and Peace
Hi. I think you are on to something Anthony. I like your perspective regarding the spiritual and the material worlds. The spiritual intervention must have to weave into the heavy energies of the physical realm in order for things to change, and sometimes it takes time to see results...and many times the physical world can become mayhem, while waiting for the spiritual path to be visible....you've just opened my mind to that arena...there's no perfect view, however, we get glimmers of enlightenment along the way. Thank you for sharing...
John, I can feel the fullness of your answer even in the unspoken portion. It is as Scripture has revealed. Your faith will see you through no matter hell or high water, and death will have less meaning than ever when you see the Lion of Judah on His mighty throne. Yes, faith is the highest form of knowledge, and the more humble the man...the higher his thoughts.
Wow... what you just said was really pretty. I mean, I rarely agree with what very pious have to say, but if y'all have one thing going for you it's that you can be very eloquent when you want to.
I clicked on this today because today Kobey Bryant and 8 other people died in a plane crash, and I can't get their families out of my mind, especially his wife. In one moment, his wife lost her husband and child. And now she must bear this loss along with her three other children who in their young lives must mourn the loss of their sister and father. And I wonder how will she manage? The world's support may help her a little, but ultimately she must carry this alone, where a piece of her heart has already died and she will never be the same again. So I'm watching this hoping to understand how would someone in her shoes even begin to face her own fate, and I hope that our prayers can somehow help her, her children, and the other families who must live through this loss. May the Lord keep them all in His eternal grace and peace.
