The idea people who protest are spoiled is a sad outlook on life. Protest is a foundation of US culture. I question those who oppose students exercising free speech even understand what protest is.
@@majorlazor5058 they are spoiled. I was working during college not living on campus, taking the city bus to school with no car and had no time for protesting. Imagine the privilege of these damn students to just be able to protest at will for days on end without a care for anything else...so check your damn PRIVILEGE.
what a weird report and made is sound as if the reporter regrets not having the protests. Do you WANT the protests? You should be celebrating that you have a student body that is mature and has clear understanding of why they are in school.
Bingo. Bakersfield is not part of the cult. The protests are not organic. They are arranged by agitators. The news people are propagandists. Did they try to find a pro israel supporter?
"This is largely a blue-collar school where students are more concerned with getting their degrees and getting on with their lives." Sounds like entitled Ivy League brats-for-Jihad could learn a thing or two from CSU Bakersfield.
The protestors never mention the hostages because they literally do not want the hostages released. The Religion of Peace preaches violent intolerance that justifies the taking of civilian hostages, including a nine month old baby.
It's been confirmed that a lot of these protesters come from very wealthy families, are outside agitators or just want to be part of the protests. Average people don't have time for that nonsense. They work, study.
I think it’s less about students coming from wealthy homes and more about CSUB being a small commuter school. Also, many of the kids who attend CSUB are first generation college students that need to make sure they graduate. They can’t risk being kicked out, because the next university is 2 hours away.. unlike Columbia that has other colleges walking distances from theirs. And I notice the culture of Bakersfield in general is very uninteresting in the outside the US, unless it concerns their family living abroad.
@@kenfreiberg6302 At this point agree and even remotely supporting is benefitting those from the seventh and wrong. The kids here like most know the difference between targeting and which is the oldest of region and probably teach entire history that shows where these try to take homeIand because it guarantees dominance over all three paths and what’s really about, nice of to show up though and remember when free young were targeted at concerts and stuff said it’s wrong to ask to protest, kids stay safe from the literal washing on campus and a way to take voices of real victims and easily could be gaslight and using democracy.
No they are not wise. It called for a ceasefire and that supports hamas. They talked about non-existent war crimes. Did not talk about releasing the hostages.
Answer: Bakersfield is in the middle of nowhere and the majority of students are children of poor immigrants in their majority. They have much more to loose than anyone else.
Sounds like the students on this campus are focused on the right things, studying and getting their degrees, not protesting because some is paying them or they want to fit in doing stupid stuff. Kudos to the students on this campus.
Instead of making this lone mother or whatever that was holding a sign condoning the kidnappings of the invasion of Israel citizens why don’t you ask her about that while she’s standing there promoting the evil of the Palestinians?
@@gregjones5022 You are right. There are many migrants there from México who are hard workers, grateful to live in free country that allows them to better raise their kids. Those are the kids you see with common sense in this report.
@@72marshflower15 I have been to Bakersfield NUMEROUS times, and by no means is it my preferred destination. At the same time, I respect these students for having far more common sense and maturity than the majority on campuses, and that includes the narcissistic clowns protesting at my own alma mater, Cal Berkeley. 😐
Wow. Going to college to attend classes!? What a novel concept!! 😂 It goes to show that these protests are just something rich kids are doing to feel important
The phrase "blue collar, white collar" is more about a person's work than the person in question. Blue Collar, is more physical labor, wether unskilled or of a specific trade. White Collar is a more educated labor, usually centered towards office workers. From secretarial to management. It has nothing to do with the race, color or sex/gender of the person.
These students have the right to their own opinions, criticising them for not having disruptive and intrusive protests is the nature of the pro Palestinian protests and is indicative of the basic problem with the issue of Israel / Palestine conflict from these protesters point of view. These protesters do not have the right to insist that every one has to agree with then
@@joeyboikly Of course there is funding. Who is providing the tents, the premade signs, the food and even payments to the protest leaders who are too old to be students.
We are not having these protests in Florida either. We are a law and order state thanks to our great Governor DeSantis! Besides, there are almost 4000 colleges and universities in the US, these protests/riots are less than 1.5% of all of them.
I am so glad that most of the colleges and universities in Pomona, Bakersfield, and surrounding areas, do not have protest activity like in NYC and other places. I pay out of State tuition for my kid to attend school in Pomona. I am not rich, every penny counts, and each penny is filled with blood and sweats. Only two more weeks, this semester will be over. I pray everyday for nothing to happen in her school. Whatever happens in those Ivy League schools, I can't afford to care.
It’s sad people think protest is stupid. If it wasn’t for protest 1/3 of people in Bakersfield would still be living south of the border. Protest is what led to the US opening its borders and amnesty to migrants and refugees.
No, they do not believe it is stupid, nor did they say so. And it is YOU that has this preconceived notion about this student body not acting like those presently in the news. As for the Civil Rights movement, that was begun in the late 50's, which had to do with Black Americans in the southern states. It had very little to do with immigrants at that time. In the southwest, there were individuals and organisations that did their work for the Latin community such as La Raza, and the work of Caesar Chavez in organizing and assisting the migrant farm workers. The few times was those that were semi-militant, such as certain chapters of the Black Panthers. Then, there's the belief that immigration to this country was set by protest, which lets us know that you haven't done a proper research of this subject. Immigration to the US has been long open since its existence was started. These weren't exclusively well heeled, many were of lesser means and with barely the clothes on their backs. From Ellis Island to San Francisco, millions came to this country, not out of protest, but for a need to begin their own story. Regardless of race, creed, religion, or nationality, they wanted to be free, live free, work as they can and want, without the encumberance of others nor to be so. It was enshrined by two documents, the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution, which includes the Bill of Rights. If you had done your homework you would've figured this out, but since it's evident that you haven't, well I'm not surprised...
Sounds like a school where a lot of kids go, but they also probably have a job on top of studying. Not a bunch of spoiled brats with all the free time in the world to be a SJW.
Bakersfield dont get down like that. Its sunny and hot and people got things to do, thry work.for their money out there, they dont have time for the bullshit
I am truly stunned that the rest of the world did not stand up and take notice that the students passed a resolution. What is it going to take before the Middle East learns that they have to listen to and obey the students in Bakersfield, California? Shocked, I say, shocked! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
It’s a tech school. Mostly nurses in training, engineers, automotive, and other blue collar workers who have very busy lives. No time to protest or ruin their careers.
Nothing is really happening elsewhere either. The largest of these protest has about 200 people and many of them are not even students. The majority of the others do not even have 50 people protesting. This is a non-issue and the media is running with it for clicks.
Why do these people think they're making a difference? They aren't. There isn't anyone involved in that war that cares what any of us has to say about it. There isn't anyone involved that is going to change their course of action because of a bunch of annoying teenagers.
Is that why students are being called terrorists by leaders and violently beaten, and arrested for nothing but sitting and maybe shouting? No more free speech. No more freedom of assembly to tell the government our grievances.... You likely have had more bad influence on the world than any of these kids... Do us a favor...
Imo, I find just that one lady far more personable and persuasive that the mass protests. Large camps with screaming automatically is intimidating and thus naturally offputting to the undecided. Maybe I am just naive, but it seems like we forgot how to talk to each other and meet in the middle.
This is the problem with media today. The report has a definite somber, regretful tone, to suggest that there should be protests. Then again, I saw the 'peacock' in the station's logo.
Wish they could free all those children used in suicide missions by Hamas. Israel freed Hamza Mubatraki age 31 and Azam Juabra age 29, but we know what happened when the Palestine people got to them. Insanity.
I don't remember which specific school, but 50 arrests were made the other day and only 2 were students. Granted, there were many protesters, but the police and school administrators gave the upfront warning, that in one more hour arrests would be made. Most of the students decided to disperse to fight another day.
Would be interesting to consider any analysis on the quality of hired professors at this university. Perhaps if you don’t hire professors who hate our country, or who have their own agenda to destroy our country, you probably don’t have the internal support on campus for this nonsense.
Used to visit Bakersfield for work. Great place and people. Very blue collar and working people. Doesn’t surprise me there are no protest. They are also very kind and compassionate. The fact that they don’t protest doesn’t mean that they are unaware of what is happening or don’t have a lot of empathy for the people of children of Gaza and the hostages.
The headline said they didn't understand why that protest was so quiet. So they went to find out...well because only 1 person is there. They are trying to get more people to help her protest. They just can't say that. This isn't a story they are trying to incite a protest and disturb the peace for everyone. They need the daily stories if they can develop some from this one
If the students at Bakersfield are like myself when I was in college and do not have the time or money to blow on noisy non-educational activities they will be better off in the long run. Face time, sounding off for the cameras and being involved in anarchy is no replacement for real education.
YOU really need to know the definitions if you think either one of those is being perpetuated on the Palestinians, who started this latest round of fighting on 7 October.
😂 I was going to say a few things, but, looks like everybody else has it covered! 👍🏼👍🏼 These are hard-working students, not spoiled, self-entitled Ivy leaguers with idle hands! Their parents pay $100,000 a year for tuition yet they claim they're now "homeless" when they're kicked out of the dorm. 😂 🙄
Do all these protests at all the colleges have any effect on the terrorism perpetrated by hamas, or will it cause the release of the hostages? I think not.
These students don’t have trust funds. They know they’re here to get into better paying fields. Rather then having there parents just giving them a job. In fields they are not prepared for.
Most universities are actually completely peaceful. There aren’t that many Universities with protests going on when you compare the number of universities without protests withe the ones with protests. It’s actually a small fraction of universities.
She is the mother…..demonstrating ….like her daughter…..protesting publicly….something they would not be allowed to do, especially women….in Gaza or the West Bank….under Hamas or the PLO.
"Evil triumphs when good men do nothing . . . . when men say, 'what are we gonna do? We aren't some elites or anything, we are just some dumb average joe. What's chipping in some effort REALLY gonna do?'"
@@rogerfaint499still what all this gonna do ? You ain’t gonna make a change . You couldn’t even make a change when your own country was in Irak , Afghanistan, Vietnam etc and people where in the streets to protest. What you guys can do , siting over here living your best life can do about the conflict between Israel and Palestine ? None 🤷🏾♂️. You just talking and pissed of your own people 😂, you doing it just because of you moral complex , that make you feel good. Even if you genuinely siding with Palestine none of what you do over there gonna actually do something. The US government just grant them billions for the war; so what this is about ? 🙄
As a Palestinian, I agree. I respect the protestors so much, but not everyone has to or has the means to participate. People can just spread the word or share a post, doesn't always need to be a march.
All the protesting for another country's war. If they wanted to make a difference, they should pack up and go fight for their beliefs and opinions. College students protesting for an outcome of a war they are not willing to fight themselves. They are willing to sacrifice other people's lives and money for their "enlightened" opinions. Absolutely disgusting.
Whaa-whaa: only one, poor, individual protestor. Why are you giving her the time time of day? Does she denounce the atrocities of Oct 7? That's what you should be asking her.
For those who don't know most Cal States are trying to get their degree and not mess around and/or have jobs while going to school as most are commuter schools.
