Love David’s point about anime being like film! As an English major, I took a global literature class that focused on manga and anime. The professor taught us to analyze anime exactly as you would a film- same terminology and everything! He was from South Korea and was super strict but I loved him! That class was so fun!😭
How do people act this way and not feel guilt? I feel so terrible if I even feel like I’ve hurt someone. I’m not a perfect person but it’s not normal to commit heinous crimes. I hope the girl is able to move on from this and make real friends.
On the "you don't get to pick your revenge" topic, people love saying "two wrongs don't make a right." My motto is "if the first wrong never occurred, the second wrong wouldn't be an option."🤷🏿♂️
I didn't realize until later in life how much of a dweeb I was. With my selfishness and lack of discipline, it took a really long time and critical life events to open my eyes to my own bullshit. I'm glad that I don't do shit for attention and approval anymore. Improve only for myself and my family. Call out your family and friends on their bullshit. It goes a long way even if they don't listen. Once they hit rock bottom, all that initial advice could help them climb back up.
Awesome episode! Man the clip of the girls bullying the one girl was horrible I couldn't even look at it straight on, that was horrible and I hope there can be some type of justice. The bullies really do deserve jail time for a long long time, what they did was so evil and nasty.
As a citizen in New York , similar to LA. It’s as if the law protects criminals and penalizes the citizens. A scenario that keeps happening is homeless people spitting on others walking by, including them coming into the store you work in to Harass and spit on people aswell. You call the cops, they comes way too late once the situation already passed, cops ask questions and then leave. Next day you see the same homeless person 😂🤦🏽♂️ I asked the cop like okay they’re harassing and spitting on people, what if I sock them stopping them from continuing, cop said “you’d get arrested” WHAT?? ARREST THE HOMELESS PERSON TF
It sucks always seeing Fousey spiral like this. It’s always the same process. He comes back to the scene, gets popping and then goes crazy resulting in a manic episode. The dude needs serious help and at this point I’ve just ignored him. Popularity cannot be handled by everyone. Hope he can be better
Social media now it what reality tv was in the early 2000’s. Everyone gets to be fake or a wannabe. The part that pisses me off is you don’t know when it’s too late. When you cross the line of “it’s just another part of life” and “it’s everything.” I feel like I’ve been groomed into feeling like I have to jump into the comment section everytime I feel a thing. Like I might not have even thought about what I’m going to say but I know what I want to say. It feels like something that unhealthy but it’s so hard to stop. Sometimes I avoid social media for weeks at a time but I know if I open it and something annoys me the arguments begin. Nobody who starts an argument online actually cares about the conversation. We just want to assert our feeling of superiority of view and have the last laugh and that’s what I wish I didn’t feel the urge to do. I hate it. I didn’t even pick up tictok because the first people to get into it were already annoying 😂
I love how every time Ed comes on to Genius brain to launch something new, He looks hella exhausted. It only means that he’s working really hard on his craft. Im all here for it my man ❤ I will always support Scrt Society i love every collection 😊
David thanks for making my work week a lil better hahah I come to work all mad and tired Than boom I watch your video and I start laughing and for some reasons I get energized 😂😂😂 I can’t say I love you cause I don’t know in person but I can say I like you very much!❤
I started watching anime when I was so young , both my parents were working and after school I just watch tv on anime until they came back , so when I find out their children in this world who didn't grow up knowing anime it just sad I don't know why 🥺
When he said they dragged Wano too much, I had the same thought before, I was excited reaching the Gear 5th episode but even the first 2 episodes of Gear 5 felt kinda bland, not because of the animation, but the attempt to stretch the fight and arc at that point was pretty obvious.
Trust me... as a Naruto fan, the series took a dive as it got further in Shippuden. Still kept watching, but it's all nostalgia and my attachments to characters that kept me going (same goes for all other early 2000s anime). The writing and pacing of character development, fight scenes & strats, story arcs, power scaling, and many more were quality. It felt like they took their time and made scenes soooo exciting! I still enjoyed the power ups and knowing to what extent and diversity of powers existed in Naruto world build. But it felt too reliant on that, and the magic slowly died for me. The rewriting of shounen plots in JJK and CSM though? Really sparked my love for the genre again.
Regarding the fake content online now, it’s kind of like we’ve come full circle where all this fake content made for views is this generation’s version of reality TV.
i got that scrt society shirt for the past few months, its awesome quality. its just been warm in cali and i sweat easily...excited to wear it with things cooling down!
This panel with the addition of Eddie would be even better! Also wheres liftgoddd? He needs to come back and chop it up with you, Pat and Nick!! But i believe the most ambitious project would be you, both Eds, and team mma (Alex, Pat, Nick) that would be fire 😅
Hi David, I really enjoy your podcast and the way yall deep dive into movies. Question about the clothing, what are the length sizes of a large on the shirts/sweaters? I'm a tall guy and most large shirts are just wide and if I'm not careful with the shirts I get ill end up looking like Winnie the pooh if I raise my arms up. Thank you!
Bro, as an old school anime fan David's spittin' facts! To this day I still remember that video where he got sent One Piece merch. I think that's probably really became a David So fan. He was always funny but that's when I was like, "Oh! He's our people for real!"
A new anime recommendation that I can make that’s really good this season is: frieren beyond journey's end. I feel like both of y’all would really like it.
The girls doing the stabbing on that other girl ended up getting there house burnt down people were so angry, unfortunately we are having many kid on kid crime going on here especially in that area. A week later after this incident some teens were stomping on a 7 year olds head at the park Repeatedly also female perps, there have been a few. The teen girls in the video were being charged though. They do just go to juvie and its something that gives them "street cred"it really doesnt do much as they learn to play the system and with the whole world talking about mental health and dont get me wrong it is a serious thing, we are seeing people play on this alot without needing to act the way you use to see them act back in the day where they pretend to speak to voices only they could hear. Now you just need to be mute and look dazed or act like a child of 5 and people say yep they have regressed to an age they felt safe.
Thieves in east Africa are considered fair game if caught. Usually they just get beat up, nothing lethal. But my family lived in a major city so villages might be different. Burning, that's too much.
1:20:38 You might as well just deduct from my paycheck! I love the new crew sweater. I saw Ed pull them out and I love the colors AND the new logo. It’s always hot in Florida but once it gets cold for the 2 weeks of the year, I rock all my hoodies from scrt society.
Yoh David, if you would give an anime convention another chance come to SanJapan! Unfortunately, it already past for this year but could plan for next year if intrigued. Im pretty sure you'll find and meet some people who are actually lay back about anime and other stuff outside of anime. Plus we has karaoke and gaming up until 3AM😂😅
I went to LA for the first time in 2015. I was downtown and saw a man casually walking in the middle of traffic as if no cars were there. He legit thought he was Light in the 2nd Deathnote ending...unhinged behaviour
David, you gotta watch Kingdom the anime!!! If you ignore the animation and watch it for the story... I think you will like it! It's better than Shang -Chi and the remake of Mulan!
All of the old anime's that david hates lol. They may have a shitty plot but you gotta give them their due respect. They were not only the gateways to a world wide acceptance into anime. They were also a beginning to the idea of genre in anime. Also Naruto wasn't a story about a kid and his rise to the top, it's literally a story about an orphan who's goal was to become acknowledged by the village who turned their back on him as a child and changing their minds. Getting to hokage is a means of doing it, but not the ultimate goal. Shipuuden went a bit off the rails but it wasn't about naruto trying to bring back his friend. It was still the same, just with more hardship and determination.
An anime that got people to watch anime isn’t a criteria for it being a good series. Same goes with film. Naruto was not the onset of that type of anime genre that’s a stretch. You ever notice how hunter x hunter is shockingly similar? It also came out a year before Naruto did 🤔 World wide acceptance of anime started with sailor moon and dbz imo. Also American animation the last air bender got people to watch Japanese animation like Naruto as well. ALSO the premise of him becoming hokage for the village to accept him is A weak story plot because it was already accomplished early on in the series. THUS it suddenly became about him trying to get his Sasuke back so it became a story about friendship instead. Weak
@@DavidSoComedy The idea that it was just about friendship is really off, he fought hard for a friendship because he felt like the idea of getting people to accept him if he just abandons a friend would make him a hypocrit. So yes at the end of the day it was to fight for acknowledgement which uses sasgay as part of the narative. Also it took it a step further and went from getting the village to accept him to the world of ninja to accept his ideals to stop the never ending chain of vengeance. I also never said they were good, i just said they deserve respect. I think for their time they were definitely good. They truly inspired other genre's and writers. DBZ, Sailormoon, and Pokemon were bigger gateways, which i never understood, why was Pokemon never considered an anime? Arguable it has a far bigger reach than any anime series in existence. But either way, I don't get how anyone can deny how naruto affected the world of anime. Which I don't think you're doing but point being. Almost all old anime's are garbage, I watch yuyu hakusho and think man this shit was cringe. hunter x hunter was good for it's time but it's all over the place and honestly the writer took SOOOOOO many damn years to write the story that it being younger or older than certain anime's is a moot point. Who's to say during those 1-2 year gaps he didn't bite off of naruto or death note or whatever. I think my point is that to the standards today are they garbage? Yes all old anime is garbage compared to today. Even what some people think are goats. They are mediocre at best. But they all were so good for their time it led to them building up anime into mainstream. They deserve respect. #respectninjatrashanime #borutosucks #rememberpeopleninjarunningathigh schooltrack?
@@Dylamoshe was already acknowledged and accepted early on Into the series so no it’s not off. The stigma of him being the “bad “ nine tails disappeared SUPER early into THE series so they made a shift With the Sasuke narrative. Also… You have lost all credibility lol ALL OLD ANIME IS GARBAGE COMPARED TO TODAY?! No absolutely not let’s just name a few that are dope and we’re not going to get into anime films. Mind you Naruto was released in the early 2000 so let’s stick around there. 1. Ghost in the shell 1995 2. One piece 1999 3. Cowboy bebop 2001 4. FLCL 2003 5. Tengen toppan gurren Lagan 2009 6. Death note 2007 7. Mushishi 2005 8. FMA 2004 9. Monster 2004 10. Hajime no ippo These are just a few so no. You can you just say you liked Naruto lol cause it was your gateway hahaha but that is a BAD take lol !!!
@@DavidSoComedy First of all acknowledged by the village early on? No he was only acknowledged by a few. It wasn't until the pain arc which was right around the mid point of shippuden. Again it's not really hard to see this but sasuke wasn't the point. It was him feeling like a hypocrit. "How can I become hokage if I can't even save one friend" "How can I get people to believe in me if I can't even save one friend" You take too much emphasis on the friend part and less on what it meant to him. Not to mention it's a near impossible task to get someone who feels completely jaded about the village sacrificing his brother. Secondly your list has like maybe 3 anime that is worth the praise. Everything is is overrated or just edgelord garbage. Ghost in the shell - who ever talks about ghost in the shell like it had a great plot besides boobs. One Piece is still going on to this day and has evolved with the times. How does this even count? Have you seen or read the wano arc? never the less sure it's a goat Cowbow beebop - Goat soundtrack, i don't really know anyone who talks about the plot being spectacular. FLCL - lol it was definitel an acquired taste.plot though? who cares? we all know why people actually watched it. Gurren Lagan - mid and all over the place Death Note - Meh, there a lot of people into it, but if you just count people it had the same viewership count as naruto. Mushishi - Does not and did not have a large following outside of japan. Great art, but extremely niche. FMA - Goat sure you got me there. Monster - literally edgelord nonsense. Not a global phenomena Hajime No ippo - great until about chapter 600, then it's a repeat of the same shit. Also aint nothing wrong with liking naruto at the time which was my point. But my point was also. Most of the anime on your list outside of 2 maybe 3? Yeah they didn't hold a candle how much reach naruto had globally. You also don't gotta like something to respect it nerd. LOLOL.
Speaking of One Piece I'd like to hear your views on the Netflix live action. Maybe it's because I had low expectations (I looking at you Cowboy Bebop) but I really enjoyed it a lot.
you didn't talk about One Piece!!! I haven't watched it and I don't plan on watching it but I have a friend who wants to watch it with me (even tho he has barely watched like 20 episodes 😒). I NEED to know what you think about it!!! Is it worth it?!?! I'm betting no but I hear that they are already getting ready for season 2. Someone please tell me!!!!
I’m not into anime at all but I went to a convention DC for the experience, and was just as shook! It’s there literal identity. It was really cool, I loved being in their sub-culture. Very vibrant, colorful, and positive! but I was also happy to leave! - as far as the smell it could be depression?
One thing bout the naruto part naruto is just that just that one show you gotta give its props for the work it did in its day, and it didn't age well compared to things now like you said .in conclusion yeah some anime fans could really use your hygiene advice David🤣🤣🤣
OMG Your Death Note Collab is SOLD OUT AHHHHH sadge Edit: I like anime/manga hella into manhwa right now and I dont like going to anime expo cz I do not like crowded area - did not know hygiene was an issue in that community thats nasty bro LOL :'D Husband also showers everyday like a normal human so i thought that was the norm but i guess not LOL Edit 2: Ive been saying it for a while (to my group of people) but juvenile law is outdated and it should either 1: update it to fit the crime, or 2: just abolish that law. Like its not longer wwII where kids got taken advantage of as easily - there's technology and lot of information that is easily accessible to kids like them - and it should be fairly simple to see if kids were under manipulation or not - ie the video shown in this clip. It's not just Australia, Korea/Japan too like their juvenile law is so dang generous to kids who does heinous crimes I dont understand.
One piece is one of my favourite Animes but it does suffer with pacing especially with the last couple arcs. It feels like each episode is a chapter of the manga which is probably because they want to slow down the catch up which makes sense, so there's a lot of longer held shots to fill in the time. But I still love the story and characters and the Wano fights sequences are beautiful
I love watching anime and reading manga because I love and appreciate Japanese culture, but those anime conventions/expo where people dress up cosplays that they spend thousands of dollars on making it is just not my thing. I appreciate and enjoy people putting in the effort and dressing up for those for others to look at, but I personally don't like doing cosplay and just walk around in the heat in a crowded area. I've been to one before, and that was the first and the last for me. Not only is the parking hard to find, but there's so much walking that your feet is dying by the end of the day at the event. If I wanted to walk and explore, I rather do that with nature on a hike in peace than in a crowded area full of people with poor hygiene. I will say though, some of the anime's story are so good that they're even better than movies and TV series. The character design and background music and fight scenes are great for a lot of the anime. Some of my favorite songs are from Tokyo Ghouls such as Unravel by Toru Kitajima, and I would've never found out about the artist if it weren't for anime. That song is such a great song and it's a very difficult one to sing the way TK does too.
I remember the times where kids had just kid shit, and adults have adult shit. The boundaries are GONE between adult content and kid content, past the age of 10 you could be following adult content, completely supported by TikTok, Twitter, and YT it's nuts
That guy is not Somali, that's just his name ps Somali people don't even look like that and would never call them self somalian coz that is a western way and that's so disrespectful. The people is Somali and the country is Somalia
Spitting facts about some anime fans being so unaware of how disgusting and smelly they can be. Recently went to anime expo in LA and got a big whiff of some dude in front of me. On reflex, I made a loud retching sound, but didn't have the balls to tell the guy he needed deodorant or a shower. He carried on completely unaware. My friend even had to switch to tagalog to tell me the guy in front of us smells, and we're Filipino-American, not even fluent speakers. Smell was so bad we switched languages 😭
Yeah ive been watching Anime longer than most. And ... i never really talk about it or get involved in in anime cons or anything, shits just too much. Like... how hard is it to just enjoy the series without going crazy. Edit: reached the bully part... both those girls deserve life in prison, you dont act like that at that age and grow out of it. Both straight up going to be serial killers. Edit 2: Yeah none of these new popular content creators are entertaining AT ALL. They are just loud and obnoxious as fuck, thats the entire shtik. And little tiktok kids love it for some reason... idk why.
53:18 I think this is also applicable but "there's no such thing as a threat unless you mean it" can also be said. Even the nicest person subconsciously can chane instantly from the way you treat them. Maybe it's social media but you cannot throw an atomic bomb at someone and not expect an hydrogen bomb coming towards you. There's no such thing as "you took it too far" when you dragged me into the little chess game of yours. If you're going to speak on social media you need to talk the way you talk irl and you need the confidence and evidence to back it up.
