Rev Ed, you are absolutely correct. The Trump issue is also a spiritual issue. I believe that he has become a 'backdoor god, to many, that call themselves christians. I heard him say, with my own ears, that "he has done more for Christianity than anyone since Jesus." So he put himself, above all the saints of christianity. I never heard any feedback from christians about his statement. The very first of the Ten Commandments says; "Thous shall not have another gods before me" Secondly, there is the issue of Truth. God is Truth, according to my spiritual understanding. Trump has been accused of telling 30,000 lies, or misleading statements. But from the beginning when Trump was accused of lying, his supporters would turn it into disliking him, rather than what was true or not.

Don’t remember how I found this guy because I’m not even a Christian, but I’ve got to say it’s so refreshing to hear someone religious who isn’t out there shouting to the rooftops about Trump being something sacrosanct. It’s refreshing to hear someone just talking about something other than hate and fear. It’s nice to hear someone religious who speaks in a calm tone of voice and speaks as a person and doesn’t rely upon overblown, flowery language.

As a U.S citizen I find it interesting to hear what people from outside the country think. Usually you get a more honest answer from a person who doesn't have a horse in the race, but knows what's going on. You deliver a view of hope and honesty that I find calming. As an agnostic Australian I’m baffled & disgusted by all the hatred that comes from the “Christian” right in America and disappointed that more religious leaders don’t speak out about it. Kudos to you Rev. The people who don’t understand why the rest of us watch & comment on US politics just don’t understand how the world works. That one comment Trump made about telling Putin to go after NATO allies who weren’t paid up should explain it all. They call the US president “the leader of the free world”, but unfortunately the rest of the free world doesn’t get a vote. “Stay in your own lane” they say, but it’s our lane too. Rev Ed, I am not a Christian, but I found you in my feed and figured I'd give you a listen. I was incredibly pleased and relieved by your videos. You are a wonderful representation of the church and beliefs you present. You are clearly a thinking man. A decent human. I have been more and more enraged these last few years by the hypocrisy and idiocy of these so called "christians" in the "maga" sector. People that embody nothing of what I have ever learned about the bible. I grew up attending a Quaker school that was about 75% Jewish. We attended meeting for worship weekly and took a class or 2 on the bible and Quakerism. There was no pressure to become or be Quaker and in fact the school only had one teacher who was Quaker and maybe 5 kids total who were. My uncle became a Quaker many years ago, but his wife and children are not. As you know Quakers do tend to believe that one's relationship to god is very personal and internal. My mother was raised Protestant, because her step father wanted her to learn the "whyte man's" religion, and my Dad, born catholic in Hungary. I was christianed because my father's, Jewish, violin mentor, told my mom, I should be. The only church that agreed to do it (my parents being of different faiths and my god parents being Jewish and protestant) was a Unitarian church. My step grandfather was buddhist and my non buddhist grandmother honored his traditions after he passed at his request. I studied several eastern religions when I was younger. Attended various churches and temples with my parents and friends. I believe in a higher power, but ultimately, I found that organized religion was not for me. I never felt I needed a book or a place to tell me how to be a good person. Most church goers that I have met over the years only proved to me that too many "church people" stop being decent humans, as soon as they leave their place of worship. But they definitely like to carry their "judgement" sticks around to beat others. Anyway, just wanted to thank you. I watched a pastor who got himself out of the Citrus Cult recently and was less than impressed. He still had a lot of conservative rhetoric clinging to him. The abortion issue is my biggest hurdle with that lot, because I can not reconcile being nice to people who essentially wish death on other humans for a belief that isn't even supported by their doctrine or their political ideals. Just like I can't wrap my head around the whole love of the Mango Messiah wannabe dictator. I refuse to comprehend how they can worship a known philandering, cheating, covetous, greedy, slovenly, envious, prideful and vain, wrathful, gluttonous liar and not see the hypocrisy. As a BIPOC bisexual woman, I find myself very angry at anyone who could vote for someone who is and would be an active danger to over half the population of the US. Whose narcissism mixed with his stupidity is like handing a gun with no safety on to a toddler. Someone who is a threat to people like me. You are more forgiving than I. And I admire your fortitude and faith.

I have a really good friend who is American, he told me that America is like a teenager, who has a lot of power and attitude, without foresight in a lot of instances. There is a lot of thinking that might makes right, and that they don't need to listen to anyone else. We none of us live in this world alone; we need each other, some Americans forget this. They have been involved in the worlds business for years, and now they want to tell others not to comment on publicly available information that impacts the world. My first experience was in the news at the CPAC convention in Florida. They had made a six foot golden statue of Trump and people were taking photos with smiles of adoration.

I'm an atheist and find your way of addressing modern issues rather refreshing. You don't learn into the dogma, instead choosing to look for commonalities and bridge the divide between religious and secular groups. As for worship, I don't believe that anyone is worthy of worship, no matter how powerful they are. And if someone demands worship then they are a pretty tyrant who deserves nothing.

What I have come to realize as an American is that I really do not know representatives of other countries, just kinda know there leaders. On the flip side, it amazes me that all over the world people know all our politicians and most everything that happens in Washington.

I know some brilliant, highly educated, PHD Af/Am college professors that are as contemporary as possible who are also literal believers. Total cognitive dissonance, imo. Although I try, I am unsuccessful convincing black community leaders that fundamentalism is used against them in US elections. If you have not already on your channel, you could explain how contemporary religious politics started in the US with Nixon/Reagan with the Southern Strategy promoting the Jerry Falwell types.
