My issue is that other people say things like, "your voice is beautiful" or "you have the voice of an angel" and then I record myself and it's like hmm I think not
I used to hate my recordings back in the day and thought that i was the only one who sounded different but as time went by and my ear got better, i realized that it wasn't the microphone, I was just bad at identifying certain aspects of my voice nowadays i think my phone recordings sound exactly like me (in a lower audio "quality" ofc)
@@versa.muusika i just kept recording myself singing and then listen back to it, practicing pitch and understanding how different sounds are made (like understanding the different qualities of head, chest, mix voices etc.. i guess) i highly suggest u download an app called "vocal pitch monitor" it's really really helpful and also download any piano app to have a reference for the notes you're trying to sing short answer: practice
Same Fr I think the last time I got laughed at for doing Billie Eilish at karaoke and went home and did a Ariana grande cover I hated everything. And omg now I record it it's ok.
They don’t hear it the same way, it’s an illusion created by the fact that we hear the high pitch and expression in our voice for the first time. Other people would also be shocked if they heard their voice for the first time.
My motivation on creating music has been bumpy for a while now because of my *own* perception of my voice. Although, this video is a great start into understanding my head voice and my voice outside my head!
If you don't have a good studio engineer, or are doing this by yourselves, this might apply to you: 1. Step away from the mic some. DO NOT BE RIGHT UP ON IT! 2. Here's what I learned. I was trying to figure this out for I don't know how long. If you take one of the headphones off your ear in the middle of you recording, and singing as you normally do with the headphones on, you will notice that you are not singing like you do with the headphones off! At least that's what it was for me. So, I did a retake with one headphone out, and listed to myself with one headphone off while recording a whole song. When I got through, I listened to it, and heard exactly the improved sound I expected to. Give it a try. I think this is because I have the playback setting very low, because if I don't it has to much delay. So, I don't think the computer had been fully processing my voice, enough to give me the feedback I needed to sing through the song.
I always thought my voice was light and clear. Until that time in high school when I heard my own recorded voice on one of my English class speech tapes, it was terribly low. I hate it LMAO.
Honestly I’m so insecure about my voice, I am 19 years old but every time I do a voice call with someone and they point out that I sound really young, it instantly makes me feel I see ice and I’m really angry about it
Had my first one on one with Adam today! The guy is a legend and has the best intuition into struggling singers! He can spot where and what you are doing and show you the techniques to overcome them. Ive been doing singing lessons with another teacher and one lesson with Adam has helped me massively!
I avoid listening to recordings of my singing voice because it's the same thing other people hear, like if you hear a recording of you friend talking it's the same irl, once I learnt that it always really lowers my confidence and makes me think I'm a bad singer, because its the only talent I really rely on T~T
Actually, most people hate their voice themselves, but when other people hear your singing, they like it. I have that problem, which is annoying, but ifk
Oh man, I can’t reiterate enough how a life lifesaver this video is, thanks for sharing your thoughts. I’m so glad something came up when I searched YT about “why my recording sounded bad” 😂 -I’ll be honest with you, I started feeling down and terrible abt myself why I have a weird hearing and singing issue. I thought I’m among the less fortunate person in the world who is not naturally gifted with this singing and hearing coordination. I recently recorded 9 takes /tracks of same song, using 3 different mic, 3 takes for each mic. Guess what, I didn’t like what I hear in playback, and worst, I even cannot recall sounding like that when I was singing 😝 😆 Now I know why and will definitely have to recalibrate. But how come this knowledge is not as popular as the vocal warm ups.. 😆 I felt like being the last person to know about this. But thanks again!
My voice sucks! My voice is always mistaken for a woman's voice. I hate my voice so much 😭😭😭 I just hosted a webinar and it cringes me so much. It was terrible 🤬🤬🤬
People seemed to hate having a squeaky typed voice, but unless those sound cute. The muffled, crappy, and low-pitched sound? Eww... I have those so please save me.
* listening to my voice recordings * Me- eww, I sound gross Starmaker viewers, my mom and aunt - you sound beautiful sweetie , go for an audition Me- WTF-
I don't like my voice and people have said my voice sounds good. You don't know if they're being nice or being truthful and its us that just hate the sound of our own voices.
@@darrenhirst9900it’s the microphone quality phones have quite bad mics get a good mic that captures your voice it most won’t be as deep and rich but won’t sound soo different
thank you bro. This video helped me. When I rap I hear a bassy, less bright, deep sound but when I listen to it after recording then mid-high range frequencies gets louder and boosted. Then i just keep messing with eq but nothing works.
I hate hate hate my voice so much I hate my tone! My pitch has gotten better but I just still hate the way I sound. I've spent over a decade playing guitar and writing song but I've hated my voice and now that I'm finally trying to give it my all I just hate it. I feel so helpless. so much time put into music and it all comes down to a biological factor of my voice
I am the opposite and I don't know why. When I sing most of the times, I find my voice ugly but people tell me I sing well and me voice comes out pretty on the recordings...
@@myheartwillstopinjoy8142 don't beat yourself up about it! I used to hate how I sounded on a recording for a LONG TIME! But now I am more at ease with how I sound on recordings, ever since my singing has improved! I'm sure it will probably be the same for you! Keep in mind we are only human, but we can accomplish what we put our mind to! 😉
Well if other people said that then you probably sound good but you’re not used to hearing you own voice in a recording because you’ve listened to it all you life through your inner ear
It's cuz we usually compare the songs/Voice to the orginal creators voice... Anything not close is bad Anything similar Is good Anything better is obviously better
Please react to jungkook’s new cover of the song 10,000hours ! And I also hate my voice in videos ahah so thank you for the video I am gonna watch it ;)
I have a question😬. I've been singing for like 2 years and then through watching voice lessons here, I learned that I'm singing the wrong way. I just start singing the way right now and, I can follow or hit the notes now whenever I listen or sing along to a music. But I noticed that I can't hit high notes like I can't even hit c4. So, I searched if I'm a bass ('cause I can't hit high notes) but then I see that there's bass, baritone, and tenor. But, I also see that baritone can sing from G2 to F4, so I tried to see my lower voice and it's G2 so now I'm thinking that maybe I'm a baritone. Yes Omg it's so confusing even for me. So is it like normal for me to not reach high notes or am I just really a bass? (Lol🤣) (or is it like a puberty thing. I'm 15😀)
I disagree. If anything, mics on smartphones or those singing apps (Singscope) make your voice sound even more distorted. Your voice sounds fine on this video, but your smartphone makes it sound off. Idk. I wouldn't go by the smartphone alone. Maybe starting off, if it helps you correct certain things in the beginning, and it's all you have -- okay. But I'd stay away from them. Honestly, I found recording yourself through Snapchat lol is the closest to what you sound like...but again just as a platform to start by. A vocal coach is the best judgement to correct pitch
Microphone on phones sound terrible yet on a studio microphone (160$) I sound just the same as I hear myself just not as deep slightly less and that is it whilst on a phone I sound terrible and like a Mexican chipmunk 😂
I just want to fix I how sounds to people. My brother reminded me that we sound different to others than to ourselves so I'm just looking for solutions to speak to others how I speak to myself. Basically I just want to be able to still sound like myself to myself but my voice would've changed to others so that now they hear what I hear without changing what I hear.
Hi Adam you have a bump on the left hand side of your neck and I am a little bit concerned. A guy from a tv show called Flip or Flop was diagnosed with cancer after a nurse who watched the show started to notice a bump on his neck area. I really recommend you go get checked out before it becomes a problem. Not trying to stress or scare you in anyway but I hope it is nothing.
NOT saying I noticed the bump, but I found this interesting. A Tampa, FL nurse anchor had the same thing happen to her. She announced it last week in People magazine. A news viewer noticed a lump on the anchor’s neck. She emailed her and said it reminded her of her own neck. The news anchor took it seriously and went to her doctor. She found out it was thyroid cancer. It was a viewer’s short email that helped save a life! It’s always nice to help out and err on the side of caution.
Freakboy 455 Hopefully it’s nothing. If it doesn’t go away in the next few days or week, I’d check it out. Just depends on the lump. Like I said, I didn’t notice it and didn’t go back to look. It was just coincidental that I read about this just last week...
When I hear myself in my head I sound fine but when I listen to myself on a recording when I’m making a video I sound like I’m holding my nose and talking WHHHYYYYYYY
M girl n my voice doesn't like girl it looks like 14 yr old puberty boy 😭.n when I record it awful I really felt jealous with my friends who is girl n have good real girl voice.
Hello Adam, Love your videos. You are a great teacher! Any chance that you can react to Shawn Mendes' Bad Reputation MTV unplugged? Or maybe Charlie Puth's Attention or The Way I Am. Or even The Jonas Brothers' Only Human ;) :)
Twi thumbs up for your video ! Now I try some tech apps to use voice to make podcast or send voicemail. I try mote extension, and have a lav mic on my mac mini 2012. But the translation english script is worse, not accurate, many wrong words (recorded it in english) I do not know what I should do to make my recording clear and accurate ? Maybe you have a tip for me or is it my $25 lav mic and I should buy a better usb mic like yeti snowball? The same with google, google docs, the translation is worse, same with video script in youtube. I'm very frustrating and not know how to fix this. Thanky ou so much and have a nice day !
My question is, why do others say I have a good singing voice but when I hear a recording I don't think it sounds all that great? Idk if this is just because I can't sing and people are just lying to me or if it's normal for those who can sing to hate their own voice when recorded
I have a friend who can sing really well and has been trying to get me to do cover songs with him. I feel like if I was actually a bad singer he wouldn't want to post songs with me but then again he could just be lying so he doesn't sound mean
Sometimes I feel like giving up. I've been practicing for years but when I record myself I sound like a twelve-year-old girl who is trying for the first time Sigh
some people say "dont worry . your bad voice because of your device" but i completely disagree. Then why every people voice that i listened is okay even in real life and voice recording? Every one voice is good but not me. Dont give me hope😭
It's simple, if You don't take singing lessons, You probably won't sound pretty good, You need to work with a piano and a vocal coach, the problem is that people almost every time always hear a very different note than the one that the vocal coach is playing
I don't like voice recording my voice does not sound good but when I video record myself it sounds like the way it does in my head I don't know if it's because of quality but videos sound better does anyone else thinks this
Hey Adam I have been wanting to sing up on you’re vocal class program or website but I have a question all the thing that are on the pack for the one year is it all included
And I really want to get better at singing it’s been something I have been wanting to do since I was a kid and when I rec my voice and hear it it doesn’t sound that good I always think it needs improvement but when I show it to other people they say it sound ok not great ok
Other people say my voice sounds good but the recording is bad.. now what Im not tone deaf and they listen to the recording and agree that it sounds bad . What does this mean?
I'm starting to think... is ok to record people since their cameras everywhere you go. And when some record you is like re watching what just happened happened people where around you.. And recording people's voices in videos are OK to. Idk. You gt people recording people without permission. All the time. Idk why but once my friend join my minecraft world he got made when he was recorded in the game. And isn't like his real face was kn camera. Or voice. Everyone every youtuber records people in games in servers. Who needs permission for that.
Pretty sure my wife just SAYS I can sing. Cuz when I sing some songs on a full popstar mode, they all just stare at me. If I could find ppl in town that just sing all day and just riff, I'd have found my ppl.
