I often get questions about how I position the media in my aquarium filters. Why do I put it in the order that I do? It doesn't make sense to some. So let's clear things up once and for all! Let's talk about it (and a lot more) in today's Cichlids & Coffee Live Stream. Let's roll!
Thank you for watching! Do you have a question, a tip or a suggestion? Comment in the chat (live) or under the video if you're watching the replay. I'll get to as many as I can. Never forget my mottos: We all learn from each other! and Always be learning! Thanks!
A very big shout-out to my live stream moderators: Salient Aquatics, Denny, GP, Kevin, Jerry, Zen Ginger, Jon Wallace and Vibes Aquatics the best moderators on RU-vid!
And a special THANK YOU to my subscribers and Patreon "Garage Gang" monthly supporters!
Another BIG shout-out to Cunningham Tropicals and The Aquarium Co-Op for their on-going support. See links and discount codes below.
Fish keeping is a fluid situation! Everyone has unique circumstances. Be sure to get input from various sources before making any major changes in your tank. Recommendations picked up from places like RU-vid might not work with your unique water, fish and tank conditions. What I express in my videos are my opinion based on my first hand experience and conclusions. Don't assume it will work 100% for you and your set up. Always be learning!

Many of the products used in my fish room come from my friends at The Aquarium Co-Op. Check them out at aquariumcoop.com !
A BIG SHOUT-OUT to channel sponsor: Cunningham Tropicals at: cunninghamtropicals.com. Josh Cunningham is providing us with some special discount codes and here they are:
Use codes BenO15 for 15% off on fish orders and BenO10 for 10% off on dry goods!
If you would like to help support future content creation please consider the following:
Just by showing up and watching my videos you are supporting the channel and it's always very appreciated. If you want to take it a step further then please hit that notification bell, subscribe and smash that thumbs-up "like" button. This tells YT that you're enjoying the content and encourages YT to recommend the channel to other fish keepers like you and me.
If you want to do even more please consider becoming a member of the Garage Gang - a Patreon monthly supporter. It starts for as little as $3 a month and your support will help to complete the garage fish room build-out, fund video production, trips to shops and trade shows and much more. Here's the (copy and paste) link to my Patreon page: www.patreon.co... - or just click on the Patreon icon at the bottom right of the channel banner (if you're watching on a PC or laptop).
Another way to help is to use this link to get to Amazon: www.amazon.com/shop/benochart
When you use this link to get to Amazon anything you buy at my Amazon store (or from anywhere on Amazon) pays a small percentage to the channel. Your cost stays the same so it's a great way to support the channel.
Another way is to visit my Teespring store here: ben-ocharts-st...
The store offers tee's, hoodies and coffee mugs. Some have my all time favorite fish printed on them along with channel logos. Don't forget to use the code "LIVESTREAM" for a 10% discount at check-out!
Whether or not you can or can't do any of these, you are still GREATLY appreciated just for showing up!
For previews of future videos and a look behind the scenes, follow me on Instagram at: ben.o.cichlid
There's a friendly and helpful fish keeping group on Facebook called: Ben O'Cichlid and a Lot More Cichlid is in the name but all types of fish keepers are welcome! If you're on FB, check it out. If you would like to join the group please be sure to answer ALL of the join-in questions so that you are approved (it's how we keep the trolls out).
Shout-outs to Christopher Martin for the Cichlids & Coffee logo, to Phil Griffiths for the dropping fish video and to Vinny of Vinny's Aquatics for the neon sign.
If you've read this far, you really do ROCK!!!

👍🏻😎 I agree that foam should be first and then bio rings or Matrix after the foam.

I use bio rings last for the reason you mentioned.

Question - do you store fish food in room temperature? Or in the fridge?
@BenOchart

would using two HOB on a 125 gallon work?

Depends on how many fish and how much you're feeding. Lightly stocked planted tank would be fine.
