I like your videos and your approach to a lot of your ideas. It's more practical and realistic in today's world. A lot of the "prepper" act like most people are surrounded by woody areas and forests. You addressed that pretty good in this video. Keep doing what you do!

I'm really glad you have been enjoying the videos. Hopefully, we can keep focused on more modern ways of dealing with things. Preparedness shouldn't just be for people who can afford to live off-grid in the middle of nowhere.

That would be the dream. Maybe one day I can afford some acreage out in the middle of nowhere, but until then, I have to get by the best I can here.

The Internet thing makes soooo much sense!!! Personally, a lot of my preparedness right now surrounds my own livelihood. If I were to lose my job and go six months to a year without income, I want to be prepared for my family to survive that. On bigger scales, though, I’d love to be ready for another pandemic scenario, Internet and power disruptions, and nuclear situations. The latter may just be because I reread Alas, Babylon too recently though 😅

The two things I focus on the most are the loss of internet and power. Nuclear is scary but I'm not sure there is much any of us can do in that situation. I can't afford a lot of the "tried and true" ways of handling something like that.

One person could hack into the internet provider's server and delete everything. This would cause everyone using that provider's internet to no longer have any access. Think Verizon or ATT, this could lead to a large group of people not having any internet access for who knows how long.

Hello @@newageselfreliance . I can't imagine one person could break into systems which are monitored by teams of people. Yes on TV but in real life China and US have been trying to get into each other's computers for as long as we have had computers. I suppose there is one child prodigy out there somewhere that could do it.....Then again I can't see how such a solo operator could afford the computing power a breech would require.

I have been studying cybersecurity, and it's crazy how simple things are. I feel the same way about cyber security as I do lock-picking. Once I learned how to pick locks I learned that locks really don't do much of anything other than keep the honest people out. Cybersecurity is very much the same. It keeps the honest people out but anyone willing to learn Linux can get a TON of information on just about anything.

I don't listen to the news, haven't for years now. I don't seem to worry about much other than paying bills. Long as I remember people have been promising bad times would come, they never do. Bad time would take my bills away....they never do. tHanks for the video

Denzel Washington once said, "If you don't watch the news you're uninformed, but if you do watch the news you're misinformed." I feel that is as true as it gets. Everything they say is a guess at best and a lie at worst.

I just heard a bunch on this yesterday@@newageselfreliance it was a philosophers point of view....or whoever the guy was. It was pretty interesting. Researchers have names for all of these patterns. When a person gets their news fed to them. It was interesting....way more fun than listening to the news. Have a great evening!

It's going to be the starve them out strategy our power grid can shut down from the outside aggressors but like ya said we had power before the internet all we need to do is be prepared for it ahead of time and we will be just fine let the goof balls bug out the woods im gonna bug in ive got everything I need in my home and I constantly recon my neighborhood ill know if somethings up being aware of your surroundings is key i belive i think most city dwellers will perish in the woods anyway they don't have the skills needed

Not only do they not have the skill, they don't have the resources. Imagine thousands of people all "trying" to build log cabins and shelters with the trees available in a few-acre park. Think of the wood they would need to burn just to keep warm. The amount of waste they will create not knowing what they are doing, plus the number of trees actually used for real shelters and fires will be devastating to any "woods" they find themselves in. I think of it the same as when you have a bunch of punk kids at a park. They do more harm than good. Luckily, we have people picking up after them today but if times get tough, park rangers and volunteers aren't going to be around to clean up and protect the natural resources of the area.
